In the morning, the first rays of light began to come in through the bedroom window, which was not fully closed, gradually illuminating the room, and as soon as light hit Nick's face, he gave Judy a peck on the head and stood up, in pajamas. The sunlight on his face was his natural wake-up call. Judy remained in bed. It was a Saturday when the two were off from DPZ services. Nick left the bedroom and went into the television room. The apartment the two got together wasn't that big, but it had two rooms at least: a suite where they slept and the TV room that went along with the kitchen and laundry.

Nick went to the fridge to get something to eat for breakfast and then sat on the couch to look for something interesting on the TV. He was still a little sleepy, but he was used to waking up early, even on days off. While looking for something on TV, he was remembering that he felt Judy hugging him during the night, it was not something usual for her, as she hardly moved at night. Nick didn't care about that, she was the most precocious thing in his life. He had nothing to complain about but was curious.

A few minutes later, Judy got up and sat on the bed. She was feeling fine, she had slept well, but that dream had been too disturbing for a rabbit, just remembering what she saw in the dream was enough to generate discomfort. She couldn't imagine Nick being any other way, being someone other than the one she'd fallen in love with. She took a deep breath and repeated to herself that it was just a dream and so she got out of bed and went to the kitchen to get some carrot juice, which she was going to have for breakfast.
She soon realized that Nick was on the couch watching TV. Judy made her juice and then went to sit beside him, of course she ended up leaning on it like a pillow. Nick felt her presence and pulled her close. Just feeling Nick's affection made her feel better, she already felt that it was the Nick she knew and that she loved. Nick had a feeling she'd woken up during the night for some reason, but he didn't know why. Maybe by talking to her, he would know why.

– Did you sleep well, Carrots? – He asked, with his arm around her, looking at the TV.

– I think so. – She felt better with him.

– I felt your embrace, at night. - He looked at her. – Did something happen?

– It's no big deal. – She leaned her head against him. – It was just a weird dream.

– You dreamed of what? – Nick was surprised, he didn't expect a dream to disturb her like that.

– It was nothing. – She insists again.

– You can tell me. – He said in a calm and gentle voice. That kindness and affection that Judy loved.

– It's OK. – She took a deep breath. – I dreamed about you, but you were different, you had to wear one… – She hugged him, because just imagining Nick wearing that necklace made her sad.

– One what? He put his paw behind her head, consoling her.

– A necklace, all predators had to wear. She looked him in the eye. – To control, you know.
– You don't have to say. – He understood.

– Because of that necklace, you were different. You… – She let out a few tears. – You couldn't be you. You couldn't be who I loved. – That touched Nick in a different way. He knew Judy loved him, but he had no idea how much.

– Judy, it was just a dream, it's okay. - He comforted her, in a loving and kind way. He hugged her. She was feeling better. – Let's eat, it's a beautiful day outside. – She smiled at him and nodded. She was in front of the Nick she loved.

The two ate for breakfast and then Nick suggested that they enjoy the day away from home, to get some rest from the stressful work at the DPZ. Judy agreed, as it would be a way to forget about that dream that disturbed her.

The two left the apartment and during the day, Nick took her to various places around the city. As he lived for a long time on these streets, he knew very well where to walk, the best places to go and everything. Nick had realized that even a dream had bothered Judy, so he wanted to take her to some interesting spots in town to help her forget what he had dreamed of. Everywhere she went, Judy was feeling better and smiling, but it wasn't because of the place itself. It was because she was with Nick.

Judy never believed she would fall in love like this, much less with a fox she met by chance. But it happened, like it or not, it happened. She was fine and happy with those she least expected. Nick's affectionate and kind manner was her safe haven for difficult or stressful days. Judy, however, had no idea how special she was to Nick. For years, Nick lived alone on the streets with Finnick, and she was the first animal who actually saw him, which went beyond what the eye could see. He didn't expect that someday he could feel love, or be loved by anyone other than his own mother, let alone a silly rabbit who'd dragged him into a police investigation.

Nick didn't expect a simple police rabbit to change his life the way it did.

He never imagined he would be loved the way he was.
