((AN: Sorry for any typos. Also sorry if this somehow isn't canon compliant. Haven't watched the new episode yet. I will on lunch.))
Meeting Clone Force 99 was just like she imagined but also different. They hadn't recognized her but she had expected that. Wrecker didn't know what she was at first. Wasn't it obvious? She was a clone girl. But Wrecker didn't say it in a mean way. He said it in the way she always imagined Wrecker would.
Hunter asked her what she was doing on Kamino. She was about to tell him that she was a clone like him. Very much like him. She was different than most clones too. But she didn't get the chance.
Because that was when Nala showed up. Omega almost sighed with disappointment but at least Nala Se didn't embarrass her in front of them. She thought about protesting when Nala told her she had to leave but then they might think she was annoying and a brat. Omega didn't want that. So she followed Nala. She did turn and wave at them though.
"Omega…" Nala said when they were back in the medical wing.
"I just wanted to meet them," Omega said. And she was glad she did. As a matter of fact she was already planning how she would meet them again.
She would have to sneak away from Nala Se, but Nala seemed to have a lot on her mind with the war ending. And it wasn't like Omega had ever tried to escape again so soon after getting caught. She wouldn't expect it.
And sure enough eventually Nala looked at her.
"I have a meeting I must attend to, Omega. I trust you'll be good and eat your lunch and stay out of trouble when I do," Nala said, giving her that look that she always did.
Omega did her best to look like a little angel who would never think about doing anything wrong ever.
"I'll be good." Omega smiled, hoping it was a sweet one and not a creepy looking one that didn't seem authentic.
"Do you promise? You can't run around here, Omega. I know you're curious, but you have to listen to me. Do you promise you'll be good?"
"I promise," Omega said, still trying to look super innocent. If only there was a way to make Nala forget about how she had snuck out so many times before. It wasn't her fault that she was curious. There was so much she wanted to see.
And so much of it she couldn't see here.
"Omega…" Nala said.
"Really, I do," Omega said. "I just wanted to meet them and I did. Now I'm happy."
Omega was lying. She crossed her toes in her shoes while she kept smiling sweetly. Hopefully sweetly. Please let Nala Se believe her this once.
Nala studied her but nodded. Yes! Omega must have done a good job of looking innocent. Nala actually seemed to believe.
And then she left.
Yes! Yes! Yes!
Omega wanted to leave right away. It was lunch time and they would be heading there soon if they weren't already there. But she had to wait just in case this was some kind of trick. She didn't want to get caught this early, but it really was hard waiting. Omega paced back and forth wanting to leave. Waiting had never been so hard.
But somehow she waited forever.
Also known as ten minutes according to the clock.
Then she ran out of there so fast that she forgot her lunch. She would rather have what the Bad Batch had anyway.
As she ran through the hallways no one stopped her or told her not to run, which was unusual. She even did some cartwheels and no one even said anything about it. Nala wouldn't be happy. Today really was a different day.
And she got to sit with them. At first she thought maybe they didn't want to sit with her. They still seemed confused about her. They must not realize she was a clone, right? Which she didn't understand. Almost everyone here was a clone. Tech probably knew. He was super smart.
But then lunch got better when she got to have a food fight. She started it, which maybe she shouldn't have done, she was sure to get lectured, but then Wrecker really made it continue. It was so much fun. In some of the stories Omega had heard there were food fights. Now she was actually getting to have one.
It was amazing and so much fun, especially since they were winning. Omega had decided that you could win food fights and they were going to do just that.
At least that was what Omega thought, but then Echo was hit by a tray. No! That wasn't supposed to happen. They were supposed to have fun. No one in the Bad Batch was supposed to get hurt. She hoped that maybe he would be okay after a moment. He had fought in battles after all. He was tough.
But then he fainted.
Those trays were hard.
"Echo!" Omega yelled. She tried to get over to him but Hunter and Tech did before she did. "Is he okay?"
Wrecker was still engaged in the fight. It looked like he was going after the person who hurt Echo.
Tech looked at Echo and nodded. This made Omega feel better but what if he was wrong and he was really hurt. She didn't want that to happen to Echo. He sounded really nice.
"He'll be okay," Hunter said. "He's gone through worse things than this."
But he still wasn't moving. That wasn't a good sign at all. Maybe Hunter was wrong. Omega knew that he was smart and the leader of the Bad Batch, but it didn't mean that he couldn't be wrong about something like this.
"But he should go to the medical—" Tech started to say.
"Yes, the medical wing!" And Omega would go with him because she worked there. Finally working there was a good thing and not something boring that she had to do.
Nala showed up after and Omega did get to go to the medical wing with her and Echo. Sure enough though, Nala kept shooting glances at her. Some of them looked disappointed but some of them were just confusing. Omega didn't know how to read them.
And it was weird that she wasn't lecturing her yet because she always did that when she did something she wasn't supposed to like this. Maybe she wasn't because Echo was here, but he was unconscious so that shouldn't have stopped her. But soon she stopped looking at Omega and just stared off into the distance. When they got to the medical wing, she left as soon as a medical droid was assigned to Echo. She didn't even say anything to Omega.
She could stay with Echo then which was good, but this left a bad feeling in her stomach. Nala's meeting must have been bad if she was acting so weird.
But then Echo woke up and she stopped thinking about Nala. Maybe she had just accepted that Omega's future was with the Bad Batch.
But Omega doubted it would be that easy.
She wanted to go with the Bad Batch to explain that it was her fault the food fight happened but they didn't let her. Hunter even said they would cause her trouble, and she would be better off without them.
But Omega didn't care. She didn't want to stay here.
But she had no choice.
And soon Nala Se came back and dragged Omega along on a meeting they were having with an imperial officer Omega didn't trust right away. It got even worse when they started to talk about Clone Force 99 and how they were different.
And they weren't only talking about them. The Imperial Man Moff Tarkin might not know that Omega was a special clone yet, but he would eventually. Nala Se would tell him, even if she watched Omega. When they spoke about the defective clones not being obedient, it was almost as if they were speaking about Omega herself.
But she couldn't help it. She didn't want to just do exactly what Nala Se said. She didn't. She would go crazy if she did that.
The meeting seemed to go on forever. The whole time, she kept expecting Tarkin to realize the truth about her and do something about it since she wasn't like other clones. But nothing happened. As soon as the meeting was over, she knew that she had to tell Hunter. He would know what to do. He could help her also.
Staying here… earlier she had thought that things were going good, but now she knew she wouldn't. She had to leave Kamino before they decided to do something to her or that she wasn't useful. She needed to leave. Something bad was going to happen.
But when she went to Hunter, he didn't seem worried at all. He even told her that change took some getting used to. And he refused to take her with him and the rest of the Bad Batch. Omega did her best not to react too much, but he didn't understand. He didn't understand how serious this was.
Instead he told her that change took time getting used to and that she just needed to give it time. How could he say something stupid like that? This wasn't just change. Why didn't he understand? She should tell him everything?
And he didn't realize that she wasn't just some random child who was on Kamino. She was like him.
She almost told him, but then she stopped herself. She just couldn't get the words out. Maybe he wouldn't have cared. Maybe he and the others already knew and they just didn't want her to be one of them. After all, she was just a kid. They might find her annoying. She knew that Nala Se found her annoying a lot of the time.
Omega didn't know what to do. She went back to the medical wing with Nala Se but soon she left. She didn't even tell Omega where. She checked her office but she was gone. Usually she was always in the medical wing or her office. Why was she gone now? Why had she left Omega all alone? She knew how much Omega hated that. Maybe she didn't care. Maybe no one cared! Maybe she was talking with that weird man Tarkin. Maybe she was telling them that Omega was one of the different clones.
Maybe they would take her away.
It was… scary. She wanted to leave Kamino. No, she needed to leave Kamino, but she didn't want to leave with someone like Tarkin. No, she had to leave with the Bad Batch. She had to get them to see that she was like them.
And that she wasn't just an annoying kid. If they took her then she would be better. She wouldn't be like how she was with Nala Se. She would be good. But what if they didn't like her? What if they wouldn't want to help her no matter what she said? Maybe they hated her and wanted her to stay here forever.
No! She couldn't let herself think that.
They must not know she was one of them, and Hunter was obviously trying to protect her by telling her to stay. Wrecker had said that he liked her when she started the food fight, and Echo probably did too because she had been nice to him when he had been in the medical wing.
The Bad Batch didn't hate her, and Omega wasn't going to give up on them.
((AN: I hope this wasn't too repetitive. I'm planning to mostly summarize episodes and not go in depth, but I sort of failedish on this. To be honest, I'm not entirely sure what I think about this episode. It's okay, but I don't think it's my best so I apologize. I have plans for cute events in between episodes but first I got to get our girl off Kamino.
I hope you all enjoyed this chapter. Please let me know what you think. I love all comments. Thank you for reading!))
