Even though Omega had been going to the park with Wrecker a lot more recently, she was still pretty bored. She was also stuck in Cid's a lot just playing games and cleaning and spending time with the rest of the Bad Batch. She did go on one mission with them, but that was the only one any of them went on.

Until one day when Hunter went to talk to Cid. Omega tried not to get her hopes up. She had spent so long on one planet. No, not just one planet, in one building. She didn't want to have that kind of life anymore. She wanted to see the galaxy. There was still so much out there. She wanted to see it all.

Part of her had even been imagining what it would be like to fly, but Tech had told her that she needed to learn how everything worked first. She wondered if he would teach her then. What kind of teacher would he be? Maybe Echo or Hunter would be better. Wrecker didn't really fly much, but he was a good teacher. Echo was usually patient with Omega. But they all were to some extent.

Either way she wasn't going to get to fly today. Not until she learned more.

When Hunter came out, she jumped off the stool she had been sitting on in the bar. "Are we going on a mission?" Omega didn't even try to hide the fact that she was excited. "I want to go."

"Omega, he hasn't even said if we're going on a mission yet," Tech said as he worked with a piece of technology that he was fixing.

"But we are, right?" Omega asked.

"Yes," Hunter said, smiling slightly.

"This is good," Echo said. She wondered if he also was getting tired of spending all his time in one spot. "We're not going to have to work with separatists again, right?"

"They don't sound like they were that bad," Omega said. She went over to Echo. "But I know you fought against them before…" And it was probably hard to forget things like that. The separatists had done horrible things to him. Things that she knew that he wouldn't ever be able to forget.

"Yes, the ones last time were fine," Echo said with a sigh.

"These ones aren't separatists," Hunter said. "We're just going to be delivering weapons."

"Delivering weapons? That doesn't sound fun," Wrecker said. He liked missions where he got to fight and explode things. Omega just wanted to be able to do something. She didn't really care what they were doing.

"I get to go, right? Right? You promised that I could go on the next mission," Omega said, not caring if she was being annoying. She had defeated him at the game so now she was supposed to be allowed to go on missions just like she had on the last one. "I want to go."

"Yeah, the kid should be able to go," Wrecker said.

Echo nodded while Tech didn't look up from what he was fixing.

"She gets to go." Hunter came over and put his hand on Omega's shoulders. "You do need to listen to me though and remember the rules."

"I'll listen," Omega said. "I'll be good."

She was going to be good. She just wanted to be able to get out of here.

"This one doesn't sound like it should be too dangerous," Tech said.

Hunter and Echo nodded. Wrecker sighed, disappointed by the news. It didn't sound like it would be dangerous to Omega either. That was fine, even though she could handle dangerous missions. She was part of the Bad Batch and that was just something you needed to deal with sometimes.

"Still, Omega, you need to remember what I said. You never know when things can change."

"I know, Hunter," Omega said.

"Yes, she knows," Wrecker said. "The kid's smart."

Tech looked up. "She is clever."

Omega beamed. She liked hearing that Tech thought she was smart, especially since he was. If he thought that she was smart then there was no way that it wasn't true. He wouldn't lie to make her feel better. That was one of the things she liked about Tech. He told things how they were.

"Where is the mission located?" Echo asked.

"It's on a moon near Ryloth—"

"We're going to Ryloth?" Omega asked. She hadn't been there yet, but she had heard things about it. Even if she hadn't, she would still want to go since she wanted to see everything.

"It's a moon. We're not going to go on the planet," Hunter said.

Omega let out a disappointed sigh, but going to the moon would be fun too. Just doing something would be good.

*Scene Break*

Being back on a mission with the others felt natural. This was how it was supposed to be. She would never get tired of being part of the Bad Batch. While they went to the moon, Tech told her more about the ship too. She did her best to listen. She wanted to learn as much as she possibly could. That way she would be even more helpful to them. The more she knew, the less likely they were to leave her behind. They would start to realize that they were better with her there.

And she was going to do everything she could to make sure that she didn't get kidnapped again. She… She didn't even want to think about something like that happening again. So she tried to push it away.

She knew that they would all do their best to keep her safe. They all tried to keep each other safe because they were a family. The only family she had ever had, even though Omega had loved Nala Se. She had been the closest that she had to a mother.

But she still had no idea what Nala Se thought about her. Maybe she was glad that she was away or safe or maybe she would want her to go back to Kamino and be used as an experiment. That made her sad.

But she was never going to go back there. Hunter had promised and she believed him. When they neared the moon, she tried her best to see everything. The moon didn't look that different than the other ones that she had been to but still. It was nice because she could see the planet not too far away and it was beautiful. She wondered when she would be able to go to it. One day she would be able to.

Omega followed the others once they had landed, but when they were about to open the door, Hunter looked at her.

"You should stay by the door. In case we have to make a quick get away," Hunter said, putting his hand on her shoulder.

"But… Fine," Omega said with a sigh when he had given her a look.

"Good," Hunter said.

"We're not going to have to make a quick escape," Wrecker said.

"Just in case," Hunter said.

Omega didn't say anything, but when the others left, she stayed on the stairs and just watched. It really didn't look like anything was going to go wrong. There were only three people and they didn't seem like they were armed at all. They shouldn't be armed since their mission was to give them weapons. Weapons so if they needed to, they could fight against the Empire.

Things seemed to be going according to plan too. Not really interesting. Omega couldn't hear what they were saying. Then a girl walked over to her. She was older than Omega, but probably only by a few years. She had kind and curious eyes.

Omega didn't usually get to spend much time with other kids, especially other kids who were girls like her. This girl was probably a teenager or a preteen, but she was still a lot closer to Omega's age than most people who she spent time with.

"What type of ship is this?" the girl asked. She was looking at the ship as if it was something amazing. And the ship was cool. Omega had always thought that too, but she had always been impressed by anything that had to do with the Bad Batch. She was so glad that she was now a member of their group.

She didn't want that to ever change.

"A modified Omicron-class attack shuttle," Omega said instantly. Tech had told her all about the ship and she always did her best to remember everything he taught her.

"Can I have a look inside?" the girl asked. Obviously, she was a fan of ships. Lots of people were.

"Hunter, can she come aboard?" Omega asked, calling over to Hunter. Hopefully he would allow this. The girl seemed nice. Yes, Shand had seemed nice too, but she had been an adult, probably in her early twenties. This girl was more like Omega. She wasn't going to try and hurt her.

Hopefully Hunter would see that and not try to be overprotected.

Hunter looked over at Omega and gave her a small nod. Omega couldn't help but look forward to spending more time with someone her age and like her… well, maybe not like her completely but still.

"Okay. You can come up," Omega said, gesturing to her. "But no funny business." She would make sure that nothing bad happened, not that she thought the girl would cause any.

The girl squinted a little bit and looked at her. "Funny business?" she asked.

"Uh-huh." Omega gave a small nod. "I'll be watching you." She smiled.

"Uh…" the girl chuckled nervously, but Omega was fine with it. "Okay then, Show me around."

And Omega was going to do just that.

As they got into the ship, Omega smiled at her. "My name is Omega," Omega said. "What's your name?"

"Hera," the girl said.

"That's a pretty name," Omega said to Hera. It was a good name. She liked it.

One of the first places Omega showed her was the cockpit. If the girl liked flying, then this would probably be what she wanted to see. It wasn't Omega's favorite part of the ship, but it was pretty nice.

"This is the sensor array, and that's the deflector shield," Omega said, repeating what Tech had told her many times. She hoped that he would be proud of her for remembering everything. He had always told her how important it was.

And she believed him.

"Over there is the nav readout, and this is the hyperdrive," Omega said as the girl spun herself around and Omega pointed at the different parts of the ship.

"You sure know a lot about this. Do you fly?" Hera asked. This was another thing that Omega was going to have to tell Tech. He might like that people could tell that she was learning a lot thanks to him.

"No," Omega said, giving her head a small shake. "Tech won't let me train until I can recite all the ship's specifications from memory."

"Specs are only half of it. Flying is… it's about a feeling."

Omega had never heard anything like that. Tech had never said that. He had stressed how important it was to know as much as possible about the ship that hopefully one day she would be flying around the Galaxy.

"What do you mean?" Omega asked. Tech had never told her anything like this. Tech was more concerned about other things she needed to learn, but still this surprised her. Tech was so smart. Probably the smartest person that Omega knew.

She didn't know if there was anyone smarter in the whole Galaxy.

"When I close my eyes and picture myself up there, I feel it," Hera said as she still moved around in her chair. "The instruments help guide you, but you plot your course." She sounded so sure of herself. It was almost as if she was speaking of a poetic or religious experience and not flying a ship.

Omega had never heard someone describe flying like that before.

"You're free," Hera said moving her hand as if it was flying through the air. She said this all dreamily. It was as if part of her was stuck in the most wonderful daydream. Could flying really be that wonderful? None of the Bad Batch had ever seemed to love flying that much. It was just something that they did.

"So you're a pilot?" Omega asked. That was impressive since she wasn't allowed to do that yet.

"No, not yet," Hera said, looking at her. Omega could hear the disappointment in her voice. "But one day."

Omega believed her. How could she not when she spoke of flying like this? It was like she knew that she was meant to fly. It would happen. It had to happen. The only thing that Omega had felt this way about was joining the Bad Batch.

She had always known since she had heard about them that was where she would fit in. And she had been right.

"Come on," Omega said. She wanted to show her something else. Yes, the control panel was cool, but it wasn't the only good thing in the ship. Far from it. "I'll show you my favorite part of the ship."

Before, she hadn't been sure she would show Hera this, but she had decided that she liked her already so she led her where they could see her bedroom. Omega loved her bedroom so much. Wrecker had made it for her and it was perfect. Better than any room that she had imagined ever having.

"Up there… that's where I sleep," Omega said.

"You get to live on a starship?" Hera said, sounding even more impressed than she had before. "That's my dream."

"Well, technically it's our gunner's mount," Omega said. "But when we're not getting chased or shot at, it's my room." And they didn't get chased or shot at too often.

"Who's chasing you?" Hera asked. "Are you in some kind of trouble?" Omega wasn't surprised that she would ask this. Most people didn't probably get chased by others.

But still…

"I thought you were in trouble," Omega said. After all, she and the people she came with were the ones who were buying weapons. Omega assumed it was to fight the Empire. "Isn't that why we're here?"

People didn't need their help if they weren't in trouble after all.

Hera thought about that.

"I…" Hera started to say. Maybe they weren't telling her that much because she was young. Omega knew what that was like.

"They don't tell me everything always either," Omega said with a sigh. "But they tell me everything that they can."

Hera didn't say anything and seemed to be lost in thought.

"So that's the ship," Omega said. "It's pretty much my home." It was more than just pretty much her home. It was her home. The only home that she had ever had.

"It's amazing," Hera said. "I love ships. I can't wait to one day have my own and see everything."

"I want to see everything also," Omega said. For a moment, she thought about telling her about her past. How she had been stuck on Kamino for so long and how she hadn't even been allowed to leave the building she had been born and raised in.

Not that there was a lot to see on Kamino since it was all water now.

But she stopped herself from saying too much. Hunter wouldn't want her to give too much information. He would tell her that she should be careful. So she would be good and do just that.

Even if Hera did seem like she could be trustworthy.

The two of them headed to the exit, but before they could leave one of the people who had come with her looked at her.

"Hera, we're leaving," he said.

That was too bad. Omega would have liked to be able to talk to her more.

"Thanks for the tour," Hera said.

"Anytime," Omega said as the two of them walked off the ship and onto the moon. "Good luck." Omega waved at Hera as she ran to catch up to the others.

"Make a new friend?" Hunter asked her.

"She's kind of strange," Omega said. After all, she was pretty sure most people didn't talk about flying like she did it. She really loved it even though she wasn't a pilot yet. "I like her. Did you know flying's about a feeling?" It was nice to be able to tell them something for once. They usually just taught Omega things.

"What feeling?" Tech asked.

*scene break*

They left soon after that. Omega thought that they would be able to go back to Cid's right away, but then things changed.
