Hi everyone! I started writing this story when I was fifteen, so I've decided to go back through and edit away my cringe-worthy writing! My apologies if anyone stumbles across this fic while it's half-edited; I'm not entirely sure how long it will take me to finish it!
Disclaimer: As with every story on this site, I do not own the characters or show, I only own the storyline and am simply using everything else for my own amusement! And to right the wrong that is Elijah and Elena never getting a shot, I'm looking at you Julie.
Enjoy!
Elena Gilbert let out a sigh as she paced the length of the gazebo. In a weird reversal of roles, she was playing Katherine, who was supposed to be meeting someone called 'em', and she was so bored of waiting.
Anyone else would've probably been nervous in the situation she found herself in; apprehensive, worried, maybe even cautious, but Elena wasn't feeling any of that. She didn't feel a damn thing anymore, she'd turned everything off, and her life was so much better for it. She didn't have a care in the world at the moment, - don't get it wrong, she could still feel her emotions, tucked away somewhere in the back of her head, she just didn't care about them; they no longer held any power over her.
Boredom, on the other hand, was still a rather prevalent feeling in Elena's mind, and it was only growing with every step she took as she continued to pace back and forth.
She twisted the borrowed bracelet around her wrist and sighed again, 'em'? Emily, perhaps? Emma? Elena rolled her eyes, there was no point in thinking about it too hard; they may be doppelgängers, but they were nothing alike. She seriously doubted she would have ever come in to contact with whoever 'Katherine' was due to meet.
Quiet footsteps behind her clued Elena in to the fact that she was no longer alone; if she hadn't felt a presence close behind her she would've been fooled into thinking she had a instead or so longer before her companion would join her on the gazebo. As it was, she assumed whoever she was meeting was a vampire, not that it should've come as much of a surprise to Elena that Katherine's acquaintance was a vampire.
Turning to greet the new addition, she had to suppress a groan, managing to keep her face under control. Elijah. She would have to be more careful than she'd anticipated, he had a thousand years of experience, if she let anything slip he'd see right through her like a sheet of glass.
Elijah smiled at her and gently fingered the pink streak in Elena's hair, she smiled at him softly, trying her hardest to channel her inner Katherine into the expression.
"Katerina." He leant forward and captured her lips in a soft kiss, Elena freezing in shock for a split-second before kissing him back.
Her arms easily found their way around his neck, her hands fisted in his short brown hair and pulled his face closer to hers. One of Elijah's hands held Elena at her waist, the other at the back of her neck as he kissed her back with a vigour.
Quickly, Elena found herself having to swallow moans that were threatening to erupt; she may not have felt anything anymore, but she definitely knew a good kisser when she find one, and Elijah was incredible. Somewhere in the back of her mind, she supposed that was what a millennia of experience did for someone. But somehow, moaning just didn't seem very...Katheriney.
Elijah pulled away after a moment and let out a soft laugh, shaking his head. Elena raised an inquisitive eyebrow at him, wondering what was up with the sudden mirth he displayed.
"Hello, Elena." He said with a soft smile.
Elena growled at him, not in the mood to deal with the guilt she was sure the Original would bestow upon her, before turning to run.
Elijah grabbed hold of her arm and pulled her back round to face him, garnering a glare from Elena. "Where is Katerina, Elena?"
Elena let out a sharp bark of laughter, devoid of any humour, and shook her head, "Why should I tell you?"
Elijah frowned at her words, stunned by such attitude coming from Elena Gilbert, and moved his hands to the sides of her face, studying her closely for a moment before his face fell slightly. He shook his head sadly, glancing away from her for a moment before meeting her eyes again. "You turned off your humanity," He sounded sad, but also something else...he sounded disappointed. "Why?"
His voice seemed to hold a hint of pleading and Elena let out a huff. "You really want to know why?" Elijah didn't react, other than to continue staring at her, waiting for a satisfactory answer. "Your precious Katerina, killed Jeremy." She snarled, satisfied when Elijah recoiled from her, closing his eyes for a moment.
A moment was long enough, and Elena took advantage of his distracted self, running from the gazebo in a flash. She bolted towards the diner, the only place she knew he wouldn't cause a scene, but Elijah caught up to her in a second and pulled her into an alleyway. Her back slammed against the wall from the abrupt movement, and Elijah pressed himself close to her, boxing her in against the wall with hands either side of her head.
Elena smirked at the older vampire, not one to complain about being in such a position, and pulled her arms free from her sides. Her hands grabbed at his hair again, pulling Elijah's face to her own. Their lips collided but, rather than freezing like she expected, Elijah responded instantly, pressing his own lips firmer to her and kissing back with a roughness that surprised the younger vampire. He was usually so tame and reserved, especially around poor, little Elena; it was a nice change to see that side of him.
Elena's head hit the wall and she let out a soft gasp; Elijah's tongue finding its way into her mouth immediately. One of Elena's hands snaked their way down to his tie and loosened it, before continuing down to the button on his suit jacket.
As she popped it open, Elijah pulled away. He pressed his forehead to her's lightly and shook his head. Elena groaned, rolling her eyes to herself, and shoved him away, "Why not, Elijah? Huh? You were more than willing to go less than ten seconds ago! You can't deny we both need this."
A muscle in Elijah's jaw twitched as he shoved Elena back into the wall.
Elena smirked at Elijah, deciding to carry on talking before he could say anything, "I like this Elijah, it's so..." she trailed off for a moment, her hand trailing up his chest until she could grab his tie; she pulled him down so her mouth was at his ear and whispered, "…sexy."
Elijah's hand closed around her throat and he knocked her head against the wall lightly, trying to knock some of the old Elena back into her perhaps. "I will not take advantage of you while you are acting like this, Elena." His voice had lowered to a hiss, but Elena remained unfazed, her lack of emotions only making her amused at his attempt to intimidate her.
"It's hardly taking advantage when I'm willing, Elijah." She pointed out, tilting her head at him.
Elijah let out a soft scoff, shaking his head. "Your emotions are off Elena, it's hardly a prime time to be making choices like this."
A groan escaped her and she shoved him away again, just as her phone rang. With a soft sigh, she fished the ringing mobile out of her pocket, throwing it away and hoping it was good enough bait, before taking off in the other direction.
Seconds later, she felt Elijah's hands close on either side of her head. She barely had enough time to process that he held her phone in one hand before her world went black.
