Rachel followed Cassie through the streets, keeping as close to buildings as possible, in an attempt to hide from the rain. She could see the blonde becoming more annoyed by the set of her shoulders as they meandered their way to this, unknown to Rachel, destination. Sure it had only been a couple of minutes but it felt like forever. She was starting to wish she had stayed in the cab as this was less than pleasant in comparison and she started to worry that she might get sick, should she stay out in this treacherous weather much longer. Seriously, what had she been thinking, following a woman who used to be horrible to her, because she happened to show her some kindness for once?

Still she did her best to keep up with the blonde, but she was becoming more unsteady on her feet as the rain sloshed in her heels, making them slippery. Cassie turned back when she heard a yelp and was able to catch Rachel in her fall for the third time that night. She now had her pressed against a wall, breathing heavily as the cold rain beat down on them.

They made eye contact for a moment and then the blonde broke the silence. "Are you OK?" Cassie panted as the frigid rain ran down her back and Rachel nodded, clearly embarrassed.

The blonde surveyed the street and looked back at Rachel who was shivering and looking at her curiously. "It's not much further, take off your shoes," Cassie instructed. Rachel's eye's grew wide. "I most certainly will not walk the streets of New York barefoot! Who knows what unsanitary things are splattered all over the place?" the brunette all but huffed, crossing her arms and adding a little stomp of her foot to show her displeasure at such a suggestion.

Cassie rolled her eyes at the girl in front of her. Something that seems to be her default reaction to the brunette. She levelled Rachel with a look and said, "I never asked you to walk barefoot Schwimmer, take of your damn shoes and I will carry you the rest of the way. I'm freezing my ass off and I don't particularly want to stand out here and debate in this god-damn rain!"

At her words, Rachel sprung into action, clutching her heels to her chest. Cassie turned around and gestured for Schwimmer to get on her back. She hoisted the tiny girl up with a small grunt and set off on a mission to their destination. A destination that was still a mystery to Rachel.

Two more blocks later and Cassie unceremoniously deposited the brunette outside of a building and began shakily entering a key code on the door, Rachel just watched her quizzically. Teeth chattering and her breath coming out in little puffs of cloud. When the door beeped, signalling that it was unlocked, Cassie dragged Rachel through the foyer and into the elevator.

On the ride up the brunette finally mustered the courage to ask the blonde what she had been dying ask, "Where are we?" Cassie didn't answer right away because she was mentally berating herself for getting herself into this situation in the first place. She just had to insist on taking Rachel home. Why couldn't she just walk her to the cab and send her on her way? Why did she let her impatience and inability to sit still for too long get the better of her and make this suggestion without even thinking about the implications. No, she had to bring her here of all places and to do what exactly? It's not like they're friends, but something does feel different. Oh well, they're here now so she'll just have to grin and bear it.

"Cassie?" Rachel questioned again breaking the blonde out of her reverie just as the elevator dinged, signalling that they had reached their destination. "You'll see," Cassie said as she cocked her head indicating that Rachel should follow her down the short hall. There were only two doors on this floor.

The older woman stopped outside the second door and riffled through her clutch to retrieve a set of keys. She opened the door and ushered the brunette inside, kicking the door shut behind her.

Rachel remained in the entryway of what appeared to be Cassie's loft in SoHo that the blonde had mentioned a few times in classes when Rachel was still her student. She stood and gaped at the tasteful furnishings, minimalistic yet still homely. An array of greys mixed with deep blue and green accents that made the place look decadent and expensive.

In her stupor Rachel hadn't realised she had been left alone dripping where she stood on the hardwood flooring, until Cassie came into view and launched a fluffy white towel at her head. The brunette squawked in surprise and Cassie, who had seemed to take the moment alone to collect herself, was laughing at the girl's reaction.

"You OK their Schwimmer? As comical it is to watch you stood their resembling a codfish, I would much prefer it if you dry off a little and stop tracking water through my house." Cassie admonished affectionately.

Rachel blushed, embarrassed to have been caught gawking. She patted at her outfit and her hair trying to dry herself as best she could but her clothes clung to her uncomfortably and they were so saturated that the towel wasn't doing much good.

"Ummm, Cassie? I errr..." Cassie turned around to face Rachel. She had been busying herself with turning the heat up as she herself felt frozen to the bone. "What is it Schwimmer?" she asked noticing Rachel's clear discomfort in what she was trying to ask. "I umm... I don't suppose you have any clothes I could borrow? I'm very grateful for the towel, but I think my dress is a little beyond that." She waved her hand over herself, gesturing towards her rain soaked dress and gave a tight-lipped smile in an attempt to alleviate the awkwardness she felt, as Cassie gave her a slow once over.

The blonde took in a moment to notice that the cream dress Rachel was wearing was indeed saturated, so much so that it was practically see-through. Her eyes grew a little wider at the realisation that she had just checked Schwimmer out and a light blush rose over her chest. Rachel didn't seem to have noticed, or if she did, she didn't let on. This made Cassie jump into action though. "Oh yeah, of course. I'll err... I'll grab you something, just follow me and I will show you where you can change."

Rachel shot her a grateful smile and followed Cassie towards her bedroom. Excited to see more of the apartment but also just as excited to get out of her freezing cold, soaked clothes. She seemed to be blissfully unaware of Cassie's inner musings over her confusing thoughts.
