Thalia POV
When Thalia woke up in the night to use the washroom, she stood up from her sleeping bag in the corner of the room. She walked along the wall, careful not to step on any bodies. But she inconveniently stubbed her toe on something hard and silently swore. Thalia bent down to see that just below Piper's desk, a heavy-duty safe with a four-digit combination code was sitting innocently. Probably some of Piper's expensive jewelry, she thought. Thalia'll ask about it the next day. (P.S. she never did)
Piper POV
Piper awoke, because of Jason's groan. He stretched his arms out and yawned. Piper flipped on her stomach, smacked her head in her pillow and mumbled gibberish.
She flopped on the ground ungracefully and once she realized everyone else was asleep, tiptoed to the balcony to find a pleasant surprise.
Her best friend was wrapped in Percy's arms, who were both sleeping. Piper muffled a squeal. They were so cute together. She bounced back into her room and grabbed her phone. Meanwhile, Jason had fallen back asleep. She went back outside and took a picture of the two.
Oh how she wanted to see Annabeth's reaction when she woke up.

FOUR MONTHS LATER
Annabeth POV
Annabeth heard Piper laughing and hacking through the audio of the recording, while she rummaged through her desk. She remembered that day.
The second Annabeth had woken up, she knew she wasn't in her own bed.
Annabeth had popped her eyelids open and scrambled out of her new friend's arm.
Crap, crap, crap.
She then spotted Piper, video recording her awakening, cracking up. Annabeth would never hear the end of it. And here she was, four months later, with Piper and Percy in her room, listening to the recording again. To Piper's pleasure.
Annabeth couldn't find her math homework, and it was driving her insane.
"Maybe you could try asking Bobby and Mathew if they've seen it?" Percy asked. It was a really dumb question, and he has asked a lot of dumb things.
"No, they haven't,"
"You're right, they haven't." Percy has learned by now that everything Annabeth says is correct .99 of the time.
She tore through her closet, finding her backpack and looked through it. Annabeth was always organized, and NEVER lost things.
She fiddled through her desk once more, before finding a hook inside the bottom of the drawer. It slid open to reveal a small false panel.
"Woah…" Percy said from behind her.
"What?" Piper momentarily stopped her video. "What happened? Oh..." She soon saw what they discovered too.
Annabeth reached in and found a simple USB port that can fit into her computer to upload a file.
Expecting an old video, she slid the port into her laptop, and the unexpected happened.
It was a video of her mom.
~oOo~
Annabeth gasped awake. What-
She had had dreams about her biological mother before, but none like this. Not so vividly that it was like a memory more than a dream. Gods, was she going crazy?
Annabeth looked at the clock. 2:41 AM SAT. In a faze of shock, she half crawled-half walked to her desk to find, unfortunately, a hook and felt hollow paneling.
Ohmygodohmygodohmygodohmygod
Annabeth had to restrain from screaming. The effort made her even more fatigued, and from the shock, she fainted.
~oOo~
Annabeth woke with the hard wood paneling as her pillow. She scrambled up, and in a haste called her friends to meet her as soon as possible.
This wasn't possible. It shouldn't have been real.
Hesitantly, Annabeth plugged the USB into her old laptop.
It loaded for a while until, horrifyingly, a video of her biological mother showed up.
It was a headshot of her mother with long, black hair and a grim expression. But the thing that startled Annabeth the most was the wounds. All over her face was scratches and tears, some gushing with blood, and others simple slits. "Mom…" Annabeth stroked her mother's face on the screen.
She pressed play.
"Annabeth," her mother said through the video. Annabeth sucked in a deep breath. There were sounds of crashes in the background. Her mother limped away from the camera, so she could see her whole body, also covered in injuries. She was in a basement-like room with repair tools to her left. "Annabeth, you have to listen to me very carefully." Athena winced with each word, but nevertheless, spoke quickly. "You are probably seeing this at sixteen." How did she know? "You need to get away from Olympus. They are coming for you." Another loud crash. "Once you opened this video, you set off a boobytrap mechanism. You need your eleven friends to go with you. I can't tell you everying- that's for you to figure out. But your group is complete. You are brilliant, Annabeth. Do not underestimate yourself. You will learn much on your journey." Her mother glanced at the ceiling. "I'm afraid I am already… dead. You need to defeat the enemy. Your father- he isn't what he seems to be. Do not trust anyone other than your group. Be careful!"
And just like that, the screen went dark. A loud thump came from downstairs. Annabeth didn't have any any time to comprehend what her mother said. Loud boots rushed upstairs. She slumped on her bed, in shock. Someone swinged her door open. Annabeth sat up, hoping to be met with her friend's faces, but before she could see who it was, a bag came over her head.
A wave of terror flowed through her, and she clawed at the thing, and tried to use her nails to scratch at its face. She felt hands on her body, and her body movements slowed dramatically. With a start, she realised that whatever they put in the bag had been a drug she inhaled to bring her into unconsciousness. As much as she strained to keep her eyes open, she lost the fight, and went into a pool of darkness.
