Four: Because You Can Anything
"Loki, you can't play with us today," Thor told his younger brother. "What we're doing is not safe for a kid."
"But I am not a kid," whined Loki pouting. "And you're just going to sword fight with Fandral. I am sure I can defeat him easily."
Thor smiled at his brother while he looked for his wooden toy sword, "I know, but you might get hurt brother."
Loki pouted at his older brother, but decided to let it go.
"I'll just read my books," Loki mumbled to himself once Thor had left. "Who even wants to play with stupid swords."
The little prince walked towards the library and was greeted by the good guard, Kalwin.
"You need something young prince," asked Kalwin nicely.
Loki nodded, "Yeah. Can I get that Midgardian book, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory?"
Kalwin nodded, smiling at the adorable prince. He followed Loki to the book shelf and helped the young boy to get his book.
Loki returned the smile before running off to his room, excited to read his book when he bumped into a taller figure.
"Loki, dear look where you are going." His mother stood in front of him, speaking with a smile. "Why aren't you with your brother?"
"He said that what he and his friends are doing is not for kids." Loki whined. "He's only going to sword fight with Fandral, but he says I can get hurt. It's stupid."
"Is that so?" Frigga smiled. "How about you come with me? I'll show you something."
"But what about Thor? Won't you show him too?" Loki asked his mother.
Frigga shook her head, "Oh no, I won't be doing that. This will be our thing. Only our thing"
Loki immediately beamed at that. Usually he had to share attention with Thor who was the golden prince, the heir. He loved his brother, but he also wanted to be recognised the way his brother was. So having something that was just his seemed rather exciting.
Loki happily walked all the way to the royal lake with his mother. The royal lake is one of his mother's favourite places, so naturally it became one of his as well. You can say it's their place.
"The lake looks rather beautiful today, don't you think?" Frigga asked her younger son.
Loki nodded happily, "Yes mother. It's really pretty today."
"Come here my sweet boy." Frigga pulled her son only her lap as they both stared at the beautiful lake in a peaceful silence. Their feet touched the refreshing cold water.
Unlike his father and brother, Frigga was always the person who appreciated a nice peaceful environment. And Loki always loved that about her. They both can just sit quiet in peace and still enjoy eachother's company.
"Loki, do you want to see some magic?" Frigga asked her son who nodded enthusiastically.
She lifted her hand and small fireworks shot from her hands. Loki looked at them with awe, just like he was whenever she performed her magic without any difficulty. Sure he could do some, but it was no where near as amazing as hers.
"One day," Frigga started. "You'll be able to do this too."
Loki looked at her in awe, "But that looks so impossible."
"Maybe it looks impossible, but that doesn't mean it is impossible. And you'll be able to do this and so much more. You know why?" She asked him, who looked curious about what she'll answer. "Because you can do anything."
