Infernal Invasion Chapter 1(Redux)
Thank you for checking out my story! This will be a Redux of chapter 1 as I feel it's not up to I'm redoing it and chapter 2. this series was inspired by the great Donjusticas Signs of Renewal. Please check out that awesome story. Without further ado, here is the new version of chapter 1.

Infernal invasion Prologue part 1
Rise of the Revenant
6 months after the Heartland invasion began
Shay Obsidian was dead. His body was crushed under hundreds of tons of rock and metal. Reduced to a smear on the ruined ground of Heartland City. Having been blasted into and defeated by an Ancient Gear Chaos Giant. The attack cleaving nearby skyscrapers in half. A few seconds before the building crushed the Raid-raptor duelist, his life flashed before his eyes.)
The day of the Invasion started like any other. Shay was helping his sister with her Math homework( Lulu was amazing at many things, but algebra was not one of them.), his best friend since the First Grade Yuto was preparing for next week's History test. When the rumbling started, Lulu brushed it off at first," it's probably just some big monsters a duelist summoned." was her response to it. not realizing how right she was. Looking out the window to see who was dueling, Lulu suddenly grabbed both boys by the arm and ran out the backdoor.
Turning around, Shay caught a glimpse of what had his sister so terrified. A dozen mechanical giants armed with massive laser arm-cannons were blasting away. Tearing through buildings like wet tissue paper. Hundreds of duelists were at the giant's feet. Shooting purple beams from their duel disks. Each time someone was hit by one of them, they disappeared and what looked like a card came out of the front of their disk. A group of them dressed in red uniforms approached the trio and prepared to shoot them as well. Thankfully they had their disks ready. Allowing them to stall the strange purple beams.
It took hours of dueling until the invaders finally left them alone. Moving onto different targets. Hours of grueling fighting and watching the city around them be turned into hell on earth. Hours of watching his fellow duelists get carded by the invaders. Soon this is what Shay's life became. Dueling for his survival every day. Watching people get carded by Duel Academy( learning the name of the invaders from interrogating one of their soldiers.). Months of fighting a never-ending war. Never knowing if today was the day they would be carded or killed.
Just ten minutes ago Shay was defending a stash of supplies from 6 Obelisk Force elite soldiers. Ruthlessly defending the meager box of ration she had attempted to steal. His skills were dulled by hunger, and the soldiers ruthlessly exploited every chance to damage and weaken him. Just as Shay was about turn things around, one of the commanders joined in. Quickly summoning her Chaos Giant and crushing his defenses with ease. Its attack slamming him into a nearby ruined skyscraper cracking a few ribs with the sheer force of the blow. Slamming into the raid-raptor user to finish him off.
After dying(he was crushed so quickly he didn't feel even the smallest pain, thankfully.) Shay found himself floating in an endless black void, like space. As Shay floated about the void, he screamed and raged. Trying to escape the darkness, and venting his frustrations. Letting out all the anger from the past few boil over and explode out. Swearing up a hurricane and thrashing about. Attempting to break free of whatever was keeping him trapped. After what felt like hours, a voice spoke to Shay, seemingly coming from above him. The voice was cold and sharp as glass. Sounding ancient and knowledgeable as well. "Are you just going to rage about weakly? Or will you do something about it?" looking up, Shay says what appeared to be a long vulture-shaped shadow creature. Solid enough that it stood out against the darkness. "you have the rage and skill needed to achieve your goal, but lack the power needed to fully realize it." it added.
"what am I supposed to do? I'm dead!" Shay yelled back. Hands balled into fists at the creature. "I was getting to that. I have power in spades but lack a body to manifest it through. That's where YOU come in. I can provide the power needed to burn Duel Academy to the ground and fix all that they have destroyed. You can provide the body I need. You will become my vessel. My Dark Signer, and together we will be unstoppable!" the creature shouted, causing Shay to cross his arms. "what's the catch?" he lifted an eyebrow and said. "what's the price?" he added, causing the creature to come much closer to his face. "you will be a Dark Signer. A servant and conduit of the power of the Earthbound. You will help us defeat our foe, the Crimson Dragon." the creature's voice dripped with hatred and venom. "…fine. But first, we make the Academy burn." "Deal. Now, behold the majesty of the Earthbound Immortal known as Tullu Mikui!"
Shay's arm glowed a bright shade of red as a mark formed. Resembling a primitive petroglyph of a vulture. Causing him to scream from the brightness and shut his eyes. When he opened them again, he found himself on top of the pile of rubble. His body was reconstructed from the grease stain it once was. Looking down at his arm, Shay found the vulture mark still there. Slightly glowing as well. As he moved his new body, Shay accidentally cut his arm on a piece of broken metal. A deep gash that probably would have taken days to weeks to heal. Though he felt the pain from his wound, it didn't bother him at all. Like the pain was just mild inconvenience. The oddest thing though was his blood. It was thick, white and he has tree sap in his veins. Looking around, Shay saw that the Obelisk Force grunts were only a small walk away like he had only been dead for a few minutes. The sight of them filled him with rage, which caused a strange duel disk to form on his arm. The monster slots are red like a demon's wing. And the graveyard slot had teeth like the mouth of a demon.
Running towards the Academy soldiers, Shay activated his new demon duel disk and challenged them. Causing another group of soldiers to approach as a backup. Making it, even more,e, one-sided in the Obelisk Forces favor.
The duel did not last long. Only long enough for shay to have 2 turns and wipe the floor with the academy soldiers with one of his new monsters. Something called "Dark Xyz." the Obelisk Forces' confusion towards its strange summon animation quickly turned to terror. Its Animation consisted of the monster it used to summon(in this case, his Rise Falcon.) imploding and collapsing onto itself and creating a miniature black hole. Black crystals inside its body taking the place of Overlay units, viewed from translucent areas in its body .t's effect quickly let Shay recover from the overwhelming damage the Academy forces inflicted, and return every strike twice-told!
After his victory, Shay carded all but the last opponent managed to get away as Shay carded his Allies. The Raid-raptor duelist could have gone after him but Tullu piped in at the last second. "let him run,let him tell the others of our power. Let them fear the might of the Earthbound!" which made Shay smile. Let the Academy be the ones cowering this time! They'll be the ones cowering in the ruins soon.
