"You aren't very grammatically correct now, are you?"
"What? What do you mean by that?"
The two were sitting in the Princess of Sol's study, reading separate books. It was a rainy day today, and the mood was less than savory, so Silver had opted to read a book aloud to himself. Silver had chosen a historical fiction book, which wasn't usually a favorite genre of Blaze's, but the way he read it was calming, soothing. At least it was until the grammatical error announced its presence.
"That phrase you just read. 'Under the rain.' It's not grammatically correct."
"Blaze, I didn't write the book! I was just reading it. If we had the author here then maybe you could complain to them instead of me."
"It's not very poetic, though, is it? Maybe 'under a rainy sky' or 'in the rain' instead of under it. It just makes so much more sense, Silver!"
Silver sighed and put the book aside, rubbing his eyes. "It's hard enough for me to read a book out loud, but then you have to go all grammar authority on it too. Wouldn't we technically be 'under the rain?' Or does it not count?"
Blaze looked out the window, pondering Silver's question. Raindrops fell from heavy, dark clouds onto the ground below, soaking the soil and wetting the cobblestone. Her left ear twitched as she turned back to face him.
"I think it counts in this instance. When it comes to our lives, we aren't correct grammatically, or otherwise, don't you think?"
Silver blinked, then chuckled a little. "If you weren't a princess, I would've thought you were a philosopher."
Blaze soon joined in the silver hedgehog's infectious laughter as the rain continued to fall.
"C-could I kiss you under my umbrella?"
