The sun rose slowly over the trees in the meadow, warming up our frozen skin. I sighed contently and laid my head back into Edward's again. His nimble fingers braided an intricate pattern into my hair as he hummed a lullaby. My lullaby.

There was only a few hours left before the first day of school… again. This year was different though. This year, Renesmee would be joining us.

Since finishing high school as a human, this would only be my second year. Last year we moved to the outer edge of Port Angeles, close to home, but far enough away to start anew with school and such.

Now that Renesmee looked the part, she was going to be playing a freshman while Edward, Alice and I would be playing juniors and Jasper, Rosalie, and Emmett seniors again.

"Renesmee's awake." Edward murmured quietly in my ear after a few more minutes.

I grinned. "Race you." Then my favorite crooked smile settled on his face and we were both gone in a blur.

As time wore on, Rosalie's old jealousy of me being human made more sense. As a vampire, you had no freedom. I was always going to be plagued by thirst and guilt for what I was. The only exception was when I ran. When I run, all my worries fly out the window. It was just me, the wind, the ground, and Edward by my side.

But of course, Edward wasn't by my side. He was a hundred yards ahead of me, running at top speed.

The house blurred into view, and Edward sped up the front steps and gave me a smug look.

"A little behind on your game today Bella?" he joked.

"You wish." I grumbled. Edward help open the front door for me and we both walked in.

The unappetizing smell of meat and the sound of its sizzling filled the room. Renesmee sat at the kitchen table with Emmett, Carlisle, Alice, Rosalie, and Jasper shoveling down some eggs. I sat down beside Alice and Edward sat down right beside me.

"Oh good, your home!" Carlisle said.

"Took you long enough," Emmett muttered.

I frowned at the empty seat next to Carlisle. Esme should've been here, but she was in Seattle working with a new company to design houses.

"We're working on our backstories one more time. Alice, you first." Carlisle was saying.

"I'm sixteen years old, my parents died in a car crash five years ago, you adopted me two years ago."

"Pretty boring." Emmett grunted.

"Emmett," Rosalie growled, "One more word and I'll-"

"Yes, dear?" Emmett asked, planting a kiss on her lips. Rosalie growled again.

"Since Emmett's so set on talking, how about he goes next?" Edward said.

Emmett snorted. "Mines way cooler than any of yours- my parents are spies and on a mission they got injured, I visited them in the hospital and met Carlisle and then when my parents died he ended up adopting me."

"You think anyone will buy that?" I asked

Alice started laughing. "They won't." I could only imagine the images she was seeing.

Carlisle smiled. "I think we should keep the stories simple and common. Renesmee? What's your story?"

"Dad and I are biological siblings adopted from foster care by you five years ago. Our parents died in a house fire when I was only six."

"Don't forget, you can't call your mom or dad that in public. You have to call them Edward and Bella."

Renesmee's brow furrowed the way it did so often when she was deep in though. Edward always commented on how that was when she looked the most like me. "Right," she said.

Carlisle turned to me next. "Bella?"

I shrugged. "I was thinking since Emmett and I look alike a little now, it might make sense that you adopted us too, I mean you adopted Jasper and Rosalie as twins together, Edward and Renesmee, you like adopting siblings together. Emmett and I could be biological siblings too."

Alice pouted. "What about me?"

I reached over to pat her cheek. "They just couldn't resist."

Carlisle was nodding. "That's a good idea… we like adopting siblings together so they don't have to split up."

"What would be be then?" Emmett asked. "Swans, Cullens…"

"You used to be Swans but now your Cullens."

Jasper cleared his throat. "Carlisle, have you noticed school starts in a few minutes?"

Carlisle looked at his watch. "Shoot, we'd better get going." As everyone started towards the door, Alice stopped us.

"Wedding rings off! People will think we're crazy if we've got diamond rings on in high school."

Edward grabbed my hand and with a sigh, slid off the wedding ring, pocketing it with his own.

Edward grabbed Renesmee's hand and pulled us both towards his Volvo. Alice followed right behind us. Rosalie, Emmett and Jasper walked towards her BMW.

The engine started smoothly and the car raced quickly down the road towards the school.

Here we go again.
