Dropping Izuku at home, Micheal and Gabriel took their leave.
"Stay safe, Midoriya." Micheal said, taking off, Gabriel melding into a shadow to follow.
Landing a few houses away, Micheal made a decision.
"Alright, we have to-"
"Keep an eye on him, yeah I know. Ramiel already has eyes on his room."
"How'd she know which one was his?"
"Come on, boss. This is Ramiel we're talking about."
"True. Between her and Raquel, I'm always surprised with how quickly they get information."
Micheal rubbed his eyes, feeling much more irritated than he looked. A child being treated like a plague because of his quirk. It sickened him. It wasn't like he wanted to be born with it.
"He wants to be a hero." Gabriel started, shaking his boss from an inner monologue. "I looked at the inside of his bag on the way over. He has so many notes on heroes and quirks. They remind me so much of Raquel's."
Micheal heaved a sigh, his irritation mounting further.
"With his quirk, he'd not make it into a hero school. Even if he did, the bullying would most likely continue. He already seems fragile. Unstable. Add in more kids ripping at his confidence and we're looking at a dead kid and a wasted analyst."
By the end of his tirade Micheal was tapping his finger in a flurry of motion. Trying to calm his nerves and failing. Making a decision, he tapped his mask radio.
"Ramiel, give me the status of the kid."
"Hey boss." Her voice came through the internal earpiece. "He's in his room. From the looks of it, he's filling out pages on you two."
At that, he couldn't help the smile that came to his face.
"Wait, some other kid just got home. He's heading up the stair." A moment of silence. "He blew up the bedroom door. He's raging. He's going for his fucking eyes." Rage filled her voice.
"Take the shot. Sedative and amnestic. Now!" With the order, he and Gabriel were already in motion towards the home.
Flying in through the window, he found a crying Midoriya Izuku and an unconscious blond.
"Midoriya, are you okay?!" Micheal fretted over the boy as Gabriel dragged the blond down the hall. "Did-" his eyes went down to the now exposed burns and scars on Izuku's arms. "Did he manage to hurt you again?"
Wiping his eyes, it took him a bit to find his voice. "N-no. H-how did you know? What was going on, I mean."
A dry laugh came from the man. "I've been doing this for a while. I know abuse when I see it."
He gestured to the bed. "Sit down, Midoriya. We have an offer for you."
The boy did as he was told, waiting as Gabriel walked back into the room.
"Gabe, masks off."
The taller of the two men stopped mid stride, confusion evident in his posture. After a moment of silent deliberation, Gabriel slowly removed his mask.
The face under the mask was nothing like Izuku had expected. A face rounded with the last remnants of baby fat. Someone no more than seventeen.
Micheal followed directly after, revealing someone only slightly older than his partner.
"My name is Nanakamado Hakunetsu, though most people call me Haku. The brooding guy is my partner, Kuragari Josuke. Or, Micheal and Gabriel, respectively."
"W-why tell me? Why help me? I'm no one. A nothing." Izuku's voice was barely above a whisper, the boy shrinking into himself with each sentence.
Micheal heaved a heavy sigh, kneeling in front of the scarred teen.
"We saved you because it was the right thing to do. You were in trouble. You would have died if we didn't step in. Or worse, that kid would have finally pushed you off the edge and you would have finished what fukumatsu started yourself." Haku pulled up one of his sleeves, revealing a patchwork of scars. Burns, cuts, abrasions, all healed over and old. " We all have demons to fight. I didn't want you to have to lose to them. As to why tell you who we are, it's because I have an offer."
He stood, offering his hand to Izuku. "You have a sharp mind, and the want to help people despite everything that happens to you. I know a place where you'll be able to use your skills to become a different kind of hero. I want you to join the Archangels."
Walking up behind Haku and putting his hand on his shoulder, Josuke shook his head. "You are way too long winded. You could have just given him the offer."
"You think I could be a hero?" Hope poured off of Izuku. Finally someone who believed in him. People who didn't look at him like he was a monster.
"Of course. You can be a hero."
Bonus: Izuku's Quirk Corner
Welcome to the Quirk Corner! This is where new quirks will be explained and analyzed.
First off, Gabriel's quirk, Umbra.
This quirk seems to allow him to not only become and travel with shadows, but he is also able to collect them into semi solids to create structures like weapons. These weapons are relatively weak and disperse after a few hits. They also seem to be extremely cold due to the absence of light and heat energy.
This quirk is rather versatile as it has both travel and combat applications, even if the combat effectiveness is hindered by the durability of the weapons.
Second is my own quirk, Shutdown.
This quirk allows the shut down of bodily systems, such as the respiratory and cardiac systems, through eye contact. As of now, it isn't very effective for anything but a quick kill.
Thank you, and please come again to the Quirk Corner.
