A/N: This is my first Black Swan related fic and also my first movie related fic (don't know how I went so long without writing one). This first chapter is quite short, but it's just exposition.

It had been a month since Swan Lake opened and Nina lay, still somewhat lethargic but conscious, in the hospital. Miraculously, she didn't die, but she was seriously injured. She spent 3 weeks in the intensive care unit before they decided to slowly bring her back into her normal life. That is, if her life could ever return to normal.

"Are you okay, Nina? You look pale…" Thomas inquired in his typical concerned fashion. He visited Nina everyday, desperately trying to help her recover. Lily had, of course, taken over for Nina and the show went on. Thomas, however, was no longer able to step into the theatre, the rehearsal studio, or even his office without crying. It was unlike his stolid persona to feel such emotions, but Nina was always his little princess.

"Of course I'm pale," she replied bluntly. She was obviously tired; Thomas could hear the exasperation in her voice. To that, Thomas could only sigh in agreement.

"Right, well the doctors are going to send you home in two days, but I spoke with your mother and she said once you get out, that you're going to move out of the city. I don't want to see you go, but I have to agree. It's what's best for everyone," Thomas said somberly. The death in his voice resonated in Nina's ear as he trudged out of the room.

"Hopefully, things will get better for you, my little princess."

Two weeks later

Nina finished unpacking her belongings, not that she was allowed to take many. Their new house was small, but it was still bigger than their apartment, and the rent was cheaper too. It was a traditional feel. You would walk in the door and feel like you were in townhouse ad. It felt warm and cozy to Nina's mom, but not to her. She felt out of place and just generally awkward.

"Mom, why are we here?" an annoyed Nina asked her mother.

"You know why. You needed to get away from the city and from your career, that is if there still is a career," she spat back. It was clear that she was not happy to be there. In fact, if Nina had just listened to her mother, she wouldn't have been hurt so badly.

"Can we please just leave? I want to go back home," Nina pushed. The suburban life was never for her. She was a city girl who longed for the lights and sounds of urban area.

"No, as a matter of fact, you have an appointment tomorrow."

"I have an appointment? With who?" Nina inquired. She was concerned that her mother was sending her to a solitary confinement unit.

"Well, his name is Dr. Madden," Nina cringed at the title Dr. "He's going to help you get through the stress and pressure you've been experiencing."

"What exactly does he practice? Like is he a psychiatrist?"

"He's you new psychopharmacologist."

Nina mused to herself, my psychopharmacologist and I.
