Sorry this took so long to update, I had writer's block about what parts I should write and what parts I shouldn't write
I apologise in advance if this chapter seems short and bland
"hi Nurse Joy, can you take a look at my pokemon?" Ash asked Nurse Joy and held out Eevee and Fletchling's poke-balls
"of course!" Nurse Joy said happily taking the two poke-balls and giving them to Wigglytuff "please wait a few minutes" she said before disappearing into the examination room, Ash then walked over to where Clemont and bonnie were eating lunch
"That was an amazing gym battle Ash!" Clemont said to ash as he sat down
"Thanks, Viola's an amazing trainer," Ash said as he dug into the sandwich that they got for him
"um, excuse me" everyone turned to see Serena standing in front of them
"I remember you, you were watching the gym battle with us earlier," Clemont said pointing at Serena
"that's right. I wanted to see what a gym battle looked like as I just started my journey. I'm Serena"
"hi, I'm Bonnie and this is Dedenne and Deerling!" Bonnie chirped up and pointed to her pokemon who were eating their own lunch, both pokemon looked up from their meals and greeted Serena
"and I'm Clemont," Clemont said with a wave of his hand
"I'm Ash Ketchem from Pallet town," Ash said adjusting his cap
"I know," Serena said with a small smile
"you do? Have we met before?" Ash asked Serena in confusion, she only gave a small smile and held out a small blue handkerchief. Ash stared at the handkerchief and memories of Professor Oak's summer camp came flooding back, playing with the pokemon that lived in the ranch, playing with other kids and the girl with the straw hat that got lost in the forest.
"Serena? The same one from Professor Oak's summer camp? Is that you?" Ash said and Serena nodded happily "it's great to see you again"
"wait, you guys know each other?" Clemont asked in confusion
"yeah, we met a long time ago when we were kids at Professor Oak's summer camp" Ash answered when the announcement from Nurse Joy asking him to collect his pokemon rang through the centre, Pikachu lept onto his shoulder and the group walked to the counter to collect his pokemon.
"both Eevee and Fletching are in perfect health!" Nurse Joy said happily and handed him both poke-balls
"Thanks, Nurse Joy," Ash said and clipped both balls onto his belt
"no worries," Nurse Joy said
"so Serena, what pokemon do you have?" Bonnie asked the older girl as they walked away from the counter and exited the centre
"I'll show you," Serena said with a wink and three poke-balls and opened them revealing her Flenniken, Pettil and a large white dog pokemon
"who's that pokemon?" Ash wondered and pointed his poke-dex at it
'Furfrou the poodle pokemon. Furfrou were assigned the task of protecting kings who ruled the Kalos region in ancient times.'
"wow, I've read that depending on how Furfrou's fur is groomed can affect its speed," Clemont said adjusting his glasses to take a closer look at Furfrou
"yep, I found Furfrou injured on my way here and got nurse joy to heal him and he decided to join me" Serena explained
"interesting" Ash muttered as Pikachu lept off his shoulder to introduce himself to Furfrou
"do you know what style you're going to use Serena?" Clemont asked Serena, nodded and brought out her phone to show them the different styles
"it took me a long time, but I really love the style of the Debutante Trim." Serena said and pointed to a Furfrou whose fur was styled to look like a white hat that had a yellow bow and long sausage-like hair, the fur on its tail and feet were also dyed yellow. "there's a pokemon groomer in Aquacorde town and I'm hoping they'll groom my Furfrou"
"so, that's where you're going next?" ash asked her and she nodded
"it is alright if we join you?" Clemont suddenly asked causing the both of them to look at him "Aquacorde town is on the way to Lumiose city, which we have to pass through in order to get to Cyllage city where the next Gym badge is"
"oh. Is that alright with you Serena?" ash asked his childhood friend and she nodded and took out her phone and displayed a map
"we should get moving if we want to get there before dark," she said and the two boys nodded, just then a huge net came out of nowhere and swept up Pikachu, Furfrou, Fenniken and Pettil.
"what's going on?!" Serena cried as a familiar Meowth shaped balloon appeared

"team Rocket!"
"that's right twerp, we now have Pikachu and a few Kalos pokemon to give to the boss!" Jessie said happily
"not to mention, one of them's a starter!" James added,
"give back our pokemon!" Serena demanded,
"oh, Twerpette's got some guts!" Meowth laughed
"Froakie, I choose you!"
"Luxio, come on out!"
Both pokemon emerged and cried out, ready to battle, as she didn't have any other pokemon on her, Serena had to sit this one out. but she did scan both Luxio and Froakie
"We have to cut that net" Clemont muttered to Ash who nodded "Luxio, use swift to cut the net!" Luxio lept up and sent a barrage of gold stars from its tail at the net which immediately broke from the impact from the swift attack
"quick Froakie, use your frubbles to cushion the landing!" ash called out and Froakie quickly threw a large number of his frubbles on the ground to help cushion the landing "now use water pulse!"
"Luxio, you help out with thunder!"
"oh no, you don't! Inkay, come out and use psybeam!" James threw a Pokeball and a small squid-like pokemon appeared and shot a rainbow coloured beam to stop the attack
"who's that pokemon?" Serena muttered and pointed her poke-dex at it
'Inkay, the revolving pokemon. It flashes the light-emitting spots on its body, which drains its opponent's will to fight. It takes the opportunity to scuttle away and hide.'
"now use psybeam once more!"
"Luxio, use swift to counter!" both attacks collided together and created a huge cloud of smoke "use thunder once more!"
"Froakie use water pulse, Pikachu use thunderbolt!" Ash commanded, all three attacks combined and sent both Team Rocket and Inkay flying
"look like team rockets blasting off again!"
"wobbofett!"
"Fenniken!" Serena cried happily and swept her starter into her arms and hugged it, "Pettil, Furfrou, I'm glad you two are alright as well!"
"til!"
"fur!"
"We should head inside now, it's going to be dark soon," Clemont said, pointing to where the sun was setting.
A few days later, the gang carried at Aquacorde town, along the way Ash participated in a Ryhorn race where unfortunately Team Rocket showed up and ruined it, luckily they were able to defeat them with Bonnie using Dedenne and Serena using Fenniken
"so this is Aquacorde Town," Ash said in wonder
"yep, and according to my map, the groomers should be this way!" Serena said, leading the way, but before they could get very far, a Furfrou lept out of the bushes and crashed into Bonnie causing her to fall
"Bonnie! are you alright?" Clemont asked in worry
"I'm fine big brother" Bonnie assured her brother, but she winced slightly as she glanced at the gash on her leg.
"oh, I'm so sorry!" the gang turned to see a woman with bluenette hair, wearing a beret run up to them "I'm sorry my Furfrou crashed into you. I should have kept a better hold of her" the lady introduced herself as Jessica; a Charisma Trimmer in training. After cleaning bonnie's wound, she led them to the groomers where she worked, which also happened to be the place where Serena wanted to go, inside they could see a man in a separate room, styling a Furfrou and dying parts of its fur orange and then took it out of the room, the newly groomed Furfrou now had curly fur with an orange diamond at the front and the bottom part of its body was also orange.
"Wow, that's amazing" Ash muttered, having never seen anything like it on his past journeys
"oh, Jessica, who are your new friends?" the man said in a slight French accent
"This is Ash, Clemont, Bonnie and Serena" Jessica introduced everyone "I met them at the park while trying to groom Furfrou, but she ran away"
"I've told you, in order to groom your Furfrou, you must form a strong bond with it," the man said and patted the Furfrou next to him "oh, where are my manners, my name is Sherman"
"um, excuse me" Serena spoke up "I was wondering if you could style my Furfrou?"
"of course. Do you know which style you would like?"
"I would like the Debutante trim please."
"of course, unfortunately, I have a few other orders to complete first. Why don't you leave your Furfrou here and come back later? Let's say...12 o'clock?"
"Sounds good!" Serena agreed and handed over Furfrou's poke-ball
"I have an idea, while we're waiting, why don't I show you around the city?" Jessica suggested and everyone else agreed. they had a nice time exploring the town and trying out the food, but unfortunately, it was ruined by Jessie and James trying to capture Pikachu and Furfrou, but it was also a good thing as Jessica finally managed to gain Furfrou's trust after getting injured trying to get it free from its cage. After sending team rocket off, the gang went back to Sherman's place where Jessica groomed her Furfrou's fur, the gang and Sherman watched as Jessica was and brushed Furfrou's fur before styling it until the fur on its head and tail had a pink heart, the fur on the body was trimmed until it had two small parts near its tail and the fur on its feet was also pink.
"wow," ash said impressed
Sherman gave Jessica a warm smile "congratulations Jessica" he said to her before turning to Serena "if you would like, I could style your Furfrou now" Serena nodded happily and let out her Furfrou, Sherman then led it to the grooming room and styled it, Serena was very happy with her newly groomed Furfrou, the gang said goodbye to Sherman and Jessica and wished her luck as she continued to learn more from Sherman.
ok, so yeah. I gave Clemont Luxio because I think in 'a campus reunion' Clemont would have kept Shinx if the mayor didn't drag him away. So, he gave him 5 minutes to give Shinx his present before taking him away, and then when Clemont graduated, he took Shinx with him.
Also, I had to make Ash's Fenniken a bit more powerful than Serena's because...why not?
I don't know what serena uses in the anime so I just called it a phone
I have never played pokemon XY before so I don't know where you would find Furfrou but I had to make her have one before the Furfrou episode in the anime so she had a better excuse (in my opinion) to go to the pokemon groomers, and the stuff about the hairstyle affecting the speed I made it up, not really sure why but I think I did it to make it more interesting
Also, Team Rocket. What team members should Jessie and James have other than Inkay and Pumpkaboo/Gourgeist?
Also, I forgot to mention James catching Inkay earlier because I forgot what episode he caught it, and by the time I found out which episode it was, it was too late to add it. So I'm just gonna have him already owning it and it will evolve
