Chapter 10
After the movie Amanda went to her bed. She tossed and turned, thinking about the kiss. Amanda got up and went to Olivia's door, she was afraid and turned around to go back to her room. "Amanda, what's wrong?" Amanda smiled, "You heard me?" Olivia hit the light, "Amanda, I'm a cop. I heard your feet when they hit the floor. What's wrong?" Amanda stood there and Olivia thought what was she getting herself into. "I can't sleep after that kiss." Olivia smiled, "We aren't doing anything else, but if you can't sleep, come on, climb in. You better stay on your side." Amanda got in her bed and smiled. Olivia turned off the light.
The next morning when Olivia woke up she saw the young blonde in her bed asleep. Olivia took her shower and decided to wake sleeping beauty. She pushed her blonde bangs away from her eyes. When she saw the blue eyes blinking at her she smiled. "Morning. Do you always crawl into someone's bed the first time you sleep over?" Amanda smiled and covered her mouth. "You're the first, but I have to brush my teeth before I talk to you." Olivia laughed, "Ok and get dressed."
Olivia had coffee while waiting for Amanda. "I'm done." Olivia thought she was so cute. "So, I thought today, we could hang out. Just me and you. Today is a tour day. You've lived here, but you haven't seen it. Come on." They started with breakfast at Olivia's favorite cafe. She liked to see Amanda eat. She was skinny, but wasn't the normal teenager watching and counting every calorie. "Liv, let me pay for breakfast, please." Olivia threw hands up, "Fine, but I've got the rest today."
They headed to a building and when Amanda saw the huge helicopter on the roof, she spun around with a wide smile, "Liv, we're riding in that?" Olivia pulled her along, "Yep! Come on!" They took a helicopter tour and it was so amazing. Amanda used her phone and took pictures. "Selfie time!" She leaned close to Olivia's face and snapped the perfect selfie. "Send me that picture."
When the flight was over, Amanda bounced around like a teenager and Olivia laughed, because she realized she was a teenager. She was so mature in some ways because she had taken care of herself for so long, but when she was with Olivia she was kid-like. Olivia enjoyed showing her things she had never been able to see. "That was fun Liv!" Olivia called a cab, "We aren't done, that was just a taste."
The next stop was at the pier. They walked down until Amanda saw this huge yacht. She stopped, "Are you scared? You just jumped on a helicopter, this is a boat." Amanda swallowed hard, "Liv, I can't swim." Olivia saw fear, "Well, we'll be inside having lunch and looking at all the beautiful fall trees along the river. We can go on the outside or stay on the inside, but no swimming." Olivia winked at her and rubbed her back. Olivia's touch was calming. "Ok." They walked on and were shown to their table.
Once the tour started they were served lunch. "Liv, it's really beautiful out there. I only know the city, but this is amazing." They took their plates and Olivia watched as Amanda peeked outside, "You want to go outside and look. We could take another selfie." They walked out slowly and Olivia watched Amanda enjoy the outside, but she didn't like the fear. Amanda gripped the banister so tight. "I'm sorry you don't like it." Amanda turned to her, "I love it! Look at all the pictures I took." They docked and got off. Amanda held onto Olivia so tight. "Do you want to tell me the story about water?" Amanda shook her head, "Not right now."
Olivia grabbed her hand, kissed it, and winked at her. "One more stop and then dinner." They ended up at Central Park and it was huge. "Liv, look at the bikes!" Olivia was walking, "Yeah, maybe this spring. Come on, we're riding in that." Olivia climbed in the carriage first, then pulled Amanda up. "Ok, blankets are there, hot cocoa, and cups. It will be about an hour ride. You are here at the right time and you'll see the sunset." They rode, talked, and enjoyed sightseeing. "Liv, this is amazing. I've never done anything like this before."
After the carriage ride, they headed to dinner. "I wasn't really sure what kind of food you liked, so I picked Fuji Hibachi. You seemed to like the Chinese." Amanda shrugged, "I like anything. Growing up I didn't get a chance to be picky." Olivia raised her eyebrows, "Ok, so how about sushi?" Amanda squeezed her face, "I never had that." Olivia thought so, "So we need to work on your pallet."
They sat and looked over the menu. "Liv, what's yami yami sauce and why does it cost extra?" Olivia giggled, "Get it because it's really good. You dip your meat in it and I'm not sharing mine." Amanda smirked, "You always say that, but it's not nice not to share." Olivia answered quickly, "You're right, but I also warn you ahead of time." When the waitress came, Liv ordered the shrimp and salmon with clear soup. Amanda looked at her, "Can I get anything?" The waitress just smiled, while Olivia assured her it was fine. "I want the hibachi deluxe with a salad. Oh and the yumi sauce and it better be good." The waitress giggled a little. Olivia added something, "We also want the gyoza and 4 harumaki." When she left, "Don't worry, I'll share the appetizers."
They ate and enjoyed each other's company. Olivia could tell Amanda had a very good day. "Wow you ate it all. Did you like it all?" Amanda smiled, "I'm really full, Liv." Olivia enjoyed being with her, but she didn't know how Amanda would feel about her closest friends. "How would you feel about meeting my friends tomorrow for brunch?" Olivia paid the bill and waited for the panic. "What are they going to think? What if they don't like me?" Olivia smiled, "They will, trust me."
They headed home. After they showered, Olivia found Amanda sitting on her bed watching TV. "I hope you don't mind me coming in here. I was a little scared." Olivia sat on the bed, "No, I don't mind, that's why I left my door open." They watched TV for a bit and Olivia decided to ask, "Amanda, do you want to tell me why the water scared you today?" Amanda shook her head yes.
Amanda took a deep breath, "My mom and dad weren't good people. My dad is dead, he was stabbed in jail." Olivia had some information from Ms. Donnelly. "He's where I picked up gambling. He never worked a real job, but my mom did. He would beat her and take all of her money." Olivia saw Amanda struggling with telling her, so she pulled her into her arms, rubbed back, and gently brushed her hair. "We used to live in Atlanta, but it got so bad we came to New York when I was 4. We lived with my aunt and uncle. When I first got here, I thought it was good. They had a nice house, but it was the same bad stuff, actually it was worse."
Amanda snuggled with Olivia and held her. "They all did drugs and drank. My uncle was mean." Olivia turned to look at her, "Did he ever touch you Amanda?" Amanda shook her head no, "Not like that, but my mom would tell him to spank me. I always had a smart mouth and got in trouble."
Amanda shrugged, one summer we went to a swimming hole. We were on the rocks laying in the sun. They were all high and drunk, but honestly I was used to it." Olivia thought that was sad. "I had to go to the bathroom so bad and my dad said pee in the water. I thought it was disgusting. So I went to the wooded area. I saw my uncle and mom having sex. I was shocked and he grabbed me and threatened me. I swore I wouldn't tell. I went back and sat down, but when they came back he grabbed me again and everyone was laughing, but he whispered, that he didn't trust me and he threw me off the rocks into water.
Olivia kissed her forehead, "And you couldn't swim. I'm so sorry baby." Amanda explained how she went under, while they laughed. "I don't remember how I made it to the side, but I did." Olivia kept holding her, "Where are they now?" Amanda answered, "They're all dead, except my mom. She might be dead too. She left me after my uncle was shot and killed in a drug deal gone wrong."
Olivia turned off the TV, "Are you sleeping in here again?" Amanda looked in her eyes, "Can I?" Olivia shook her head, "Sure." Amanda had another question, "Liv, I like this feeling, you holding me. No one has ever held me like this. Will you hold me until I fall asleep?" Olivia turned out the light, kissed her forehead, "Yes, I will hold you baby." Amanda laughed, "I thought you were going to say stay on my own side."
