Chapter 12

Thanksgiving break was finally here. Kim and Nick were packed and ready to go. "Amanda, my parents flipped when I told them I was going with Nick. Do you want to hear something funny?" Amanda was putting stuff in her bag, "What's so funny Kim?" Kim smirked, "My mom asked who was taking care of you." Amanda smiled, "No way!" Kim hugged her friend, "Tell Liv I'm depressed that I'm missing the food and to send me a plate." Kim and Nick usually joined family dinners on Wednesdays. Melinda, Alex, and Olivia all cooked and brought dishes to share. They always made her, Fin, Nick, and Kim clean up and do the dishes, while they had wine. "I will! See you Sunday."

Kim left and texted Olivia, "Heads up, because I know Amanda and I'm pretty sure she hasn't mentioned it, her birthday is on Thanksgiving this year." Olivia called her immediately. "Kim, why are you just telling me? Now I need a cake and gifts by Thursday. Kim laughed, "She doesn't celebrate it and never makes a big deal about it. I'm sure it's because her parents never did anything." Olivia thought that was crazy, even her drunk mother made sure she had a cake and presents. "Well, that changes this year. Thanks!"

Amanda got to Olivia's place, "Hi Simon!" Simon waved, "Hey Amanda. You around all week?" Amanda assured him and said she was glad to have a break. It didn't feel weird being at Olivia's by herself anymore. She saw a note on the refrigerator, "I left you lunch, so you didn't try to burn down my place. USE THE MICROWAVE ;) Love you!" Amanda smiled at the word love. She hadn't seen Olivia since Wednesday dinner and it was a tense moment.

Amanda found out Olivia had been held at gunpoint while chasing a suspect down at JFK Airport the Monday before. Fin saved her life. The fight came when Olivia didn't tell Amanda a single thing about it. So when Fin opened his big mouth at dinner telling everyone, Olivia knew she was in trouble. "Man, I'm telling you Liv is a bad ass cop. That dude had a gun that looked like a phone. And even when he put a gun to her head, Liv was still talking shit!" Olivia looked at Amanda and then to Fin, "Fin enough! Stop talking shop."

Amanda always hid stuff well. She was fooling everyone except two people. Kim and Olivia knew, she wasn't fooling them. She laughed and joked, but there was nothing funny. Olivia kept looking at her during dinner to see how upset she was. Amanda never looked her way.

After dinner, Olivia grabbed her, "Hey, can we talk?" Amanda scoffed, "Oh, now you want to talk. Kiss my ass Liv." Amanda pulled her arm away and snuck a bottle of Olivia's most expensive wine and drank and drank and drank. Alex, Melinda, and Fin headed out, while Kim and Nick made to go plates.

Kim looked around, "Liv, where's Amanda. You know she's mad right." Olivia shook her head, "She knows you have a dangerous job Liv, but you can't hide things from her." Olivia explained, "Kim, I love her and I didn't think she could handle it." Kim smiled, "Wait, you love her Liv?" Olivia smiled, "I haven't told her, but I've loved her since I met her. She's probably in my room pissed. I'll talk to her." Kim stopped her, "Liv, whether she can handle it or not, trust is a big thing with her."

Olivia went to her bedroom expecting an argument and what she saw was a drunk passed out 18 year old. "Shit! Kim!!!" Olivia looked at the bottle, felt for a pulse, and checked her breathing. "Baby sit up for me." Olivia knew she barely ate once Fin started talking. Amanda groaned, "No, I'm gonna be sick." Nick and Olivia helped her to the toilet where Amanda threw up again and again. Nick squirmed and Kim told him to go, "I've got her. Get it out Amanda." Kim held hair and Olivia rubbed her back. Kim gave her comforting words. Olivia couldn't believe what she was seeing. "Kim, she can't leave like this." Kim agreed, "I'll call Mrs. Stabler and email her professors that she's sick."

Olivia saw them out and then went to attend to drunk Amanda. Olivia was mad, She had a flashback to taking care of her drunk mother and rolled her eyes. "You know I actually love you, but I really don't like you right now. You're not even old enough to drink." Olivia figured she was out of it, until the small frame blonde started crying, hugging her, and sobbing she was sorry. Olivia knew she wasn't her mom. "Come on, get up." Olivia sat her down in her huge shower on the bench. She propped her up making sure she wouldn't fall over. She found her smallest sleep pants and T-shirt. "Let's get you out of these clothes." Amanda groaned. "Nope, I don't want to hear it. You have been bad today."

She carefully took the shirt off. She grabbed a towel and covered her shoulders after she took off her bra. She touched her face, "Amanda, look at me. I need to take off your clothes to give you a shower." Amanda smiled, but she was out of it. Olivia got her completely undressed and turned on the water. She found the perfect temperature and grabbed the soap. She washed Amanda, dried her off, and dressed her for bed. Olivia leaned over and whispered, "Baby, I really need your help for this." Olivia picked her up and carried her to bed. She brushed her hair back, kissed her forehead, and tucked her in.

The next morning Amanda blinked her eyes as the light came in through the window. When she turned over, she saw Olivia sitting on her elbow staring at her. "Are you still mad at me, because my head is killing me." Olivia squinted, "Damn! I'm surprised you remember that. You were drunk." Amanda smiled, "Do you really love me?" Olivia sighed, "I do Amanda, but I don't like what happened and I'm guessing from your behavior you don't like me not being honest with you. I'm sorry."

Amanda realized what she meant, "You were trying to protect me. I was wrong for drinking in your home, I'm not 21." Olivia laid back, "It's not just that. I drink Amanda, but I spent my entire childhood taking care of my mother like I did for you last night. I don't want that for us." Amanda climbed on top of her straddling her, "Never again. I promise." She bent down to kiss her lips. "But can you take care of my headache?" Olivia took care of her, then took her back to school.

Amanda was thinking about what would happen when Olivia walked in the door and she did. "Hey baby, did you eat lunch?" Amanda stood up, "Yeah." Olivia put her stuff down, "We talked about this on Thursday. I'm not mad at you and you're not mad at me." Olivia searched her eyes, "I love you." Amanda smiled and kissed her lips, "I love you too."
