Chapter 14

Thanksgiving was over and on Sunday Olivia drove her back to the dorm. "See you on Wednesday. Liv you made me feel amazing. I've never felt like that before. I love you." Olivia smiled, "I love you too Amanda."

Amanda went to her room and saw Kim sitting on the bed. "Hey!" Kim was looking at her homework. "How was your trip with Nick?" Kim smiled, "It was perfect. His parents are so sweet. My parents missed me though. I just had a huge blowup with my mom. I told her she was stuck up. Nick's parents asked to visit us for Christmas and my mom better not act like a fool." Kim was going on and on and her best friend was right there just like always.

Kim stopped and smiled, "You look different. Nice shoes! How was your Thanksgiving?" Amanda smiled, "You told on me. You know I've never had a real birthday. Liv is…" Kim finished the statement, "Someone you needed." Amanda put her arm around her best friend, "I always had you." Kim smirked, "And you still have me, but now you have her too."

Amanda and Kim finished out the semester, both made straight A's. At Wednesday dinner, Olivia and Alex showered them with love. "We are proud of both of you. Your majors are serious business. Alex finally brought someone to the family dinner. He was tall, blonde, and muscular. "Liv, Peter's cute." Olivia laughed, "Really are you cheating on me?" Amanda put her head on her shoulder, "Never." Peter Stone was a new hot shot ADA. He actually played pro baseball in Chicago, but an injury forced him into law like his dad.

Amanda was staying with Olivia for her entire break. She was surprised to see her dressed and awake so early. "Are you coming to work with me?" Amanda shook her head, "No, shopping with Kim." Olivia turned, "Who are you shopping for?" Amanda noticed Olivia's tone and looked down at her list. "Kim, Nick, Kim's parents, Alex, Fin, Melinda, and you." Amanda braced for the argument and looked up. Olivia was stirring her coffee. "One gift each, no more. Do you want money?" Amanda frowned, "I don't want your money. I think you've done enough and I do work, you know."

Olivia knew she wouldn't take anything, but was worried because she wasn't working over her break. "She kissed her and got ready to leave. "Liv, one more thing. I have to get you more than one thing. You are my girlfriend. I can't get everyone one thing and you one thing." Olivia knelt down, "Ok, no more than three and I mean it." Amanda smiled, "Yes ma'am!" Olivia rolled her eyes. "It's cold, wear your heavy coat please. "Yes mom!" Olivia turned, "You're going to get it."

She met Kim for breakfast and shopping. She picked out hoodies for Nick and Fin. She found a beautiful leather briefcase for Alex and Kim picked up the matching laptop case. "That slides in perfectly Kim." They continued down Amanda's list. Kim grabbed Amanda, "A wine store? What the hell?" Amanda pulled out her fake ID. "Liv needs to beat your ass. I thought she took that." Amanda laughed, "Don't tell on me and she did. I needed it to get Melinda her gift." Amanda bought Melinda a case of her favorite expensive wine. While she was there she also had a bottle sent to Kim's parents. "Great this is the address for the case and this is the address for the bottle. She wrote on the cards which would be with the gifts.

Amanda smiled at Kim, "Now gifts for Liv. She made me promise no more than three tops." They went to a custom picture frame shop. "I already have an idea for two. Come on." They walked in, "Hi, I'm Amanda Rollins. I sent you my pictures and you said you had the perfect frame." The middle said "Family where life begins and love never ends" and it had 3 frames on the left and 3 on the right. "Wow, you already put the pictures in." The salesman said, "Yeah, thought it would be nicer if you could see what the entire thing looked like."

She sent him the selfie in the helicopter, the picture they took on the yacht, the picture she took of Olivia, Alex, and Melinda, the birthday picture of everyone smearing cake on Amanda then kissing her, the picture of them in the carriage, and the picture Simon took of all of them at family dinner. Kim smiled, "Amanda she will love it!" Amanda paid to have it wrapped and sent to Olivia's place.

Next they headed to the Peninsula Hotel. "Hi, I'm interested in seeing your day retreat spa packages." The lady was going over the prices and Amanda agreed on a pretty expensive one. She picked the weekend of January 23rd, because that was Liv's birthday weekend. Kim didn't say anything, but she was doing the math in her head. "Ok two gifts Amanda, where to next?"

Amanda headed to the Tiffany store. Kim stopped her again, "Amanda, you've already spent way too much money. Are you gambling again?" Kim was so serious, "Kim I'm the finance major remember. Did you forget Olivia has paid my tuition and I earned those scholarships." Kim shook her head, "Yeah but even with that." Amanda was upset, "You don't trust me Kim." Before she could answer, "I tell you what, best friend, I've got the rest on my own."

Amanda walked away and kept going to the Tiffany store. "Welcome to Tiffany, can I help you?" Amanda looked around, "I'm just looking for a couple of gifts for Christmas." She was in there to get a gift for Olivia and Kim, although she was rethinking Kim's altogether.

She saw a heart key charm, but the chain was sold separately. She went for it anyway, because it was Olivia. She also made sure the chain was longer than the one she wore with her mom's ring. "We will wrap this up for you ma'am." Amanda saw a bracelet, "Also can you add this Blue heart bead bracelet." Amanda got her bags and headed to Olivia's, because she had work to do.

Amanda hid the Tiffany gifts and the spa gift certificate in her bag she left in the guest room. Simon brought up the wine and picture frame. She added that in the closet next to Fin and Nick's gift. Then she pulled out her computer and went to work. Amanda sent a text to Olivia.

Amanda: I'm making spaghetti and salad for dinner. Are you going to be late or on time?

Olivia: Wait, dinner? You're cooking?

Amanda: Yeah, unless you're afraid I will burn your house down.

Olivia knew from the text that the tone changed, so she called. "Hey, I was kidding. What's wrong?" Amanda sighed, "Nothing. I can cook or not cook. What do you want?" Olivia knew something had happened, "Cook please. I can't wait to try this amazing spaghetti. But one thing?" Amanda was still annoyed, "What?" Olivia wanted to kiss her and calm her, "Did you pick up garlic bread, because I really like dipping it in the sauce." Amanda laughed and cried at the same time. "I did, see you when you get home." Olivia finished up as fast as she could and headed home.
