Before I get into this one-shot, I want to say 3 things:
First, thank you for all the lovely now-deleted reviews and messages I received telling me my lemon sucked, was shitty, and I should never write fanfiction again. That really made my day and boosted my already low self-esteem, thanks. I really appreciated it.
Seriously guys, I said no hate. I am 14 years old and that was my first lemon ever. I'm sorry if it wasn't the lemon you liked. I can't believe we are at that level of low that targets and bullies children who are trying to have fun being a writer. And if I sound mad, it's because I am mad. You all literally had the audacity to hate on a 14-year-old's first lemon like it was nothing. I will not be saying names for one reason: you know who you are. I don't want to see any "well I didn't see any" in the reviews. You did not see it because I deleted them all within 5 minutes of them being up, and half of the hate I received were messages I received.
*sorry for the vent*
Two, on a related note, I will be continuing to write lemons. I do not care what you think and I know it didn't suck.
Three, you may recognize the title, and that's probably because you do. Nya is transgender in Challenges, and I thought I would do a one-shot here on how she figured out she is transgender. If you haven't read Challenges, I highly suggest you do so you know what's going on here.
*please, no anti-trans messages or reviews. We accept and support everyone here, no matter what gender, race, and/or sexuality*
*please respect Nya's pronouns (she/her)*
*this will be longer than normal- about 2200 words*
*told from Nya's POV*
I always knew I wasn't a boy. Growing up, I liked dresses and makeup, not cars and sports. Not that boys can wear makeup and dresses, and girls can't like cars and sports. They can.
It's just, I knew I wasn't in the right body. I felt trapped.
When I was born, I was born via C section due to my mother being 4 months early. Once I was birthed, I was rushed out of the room and into an incubator. I only weighed about 3 pounds and 6 ounces. I was held at the hospital for 3 months and when I finally went home with my parents, I had to be fed every hour.
When I was 4, we went to church for the first time. My mom got my suit for church, and I was not having it.
"But mom, I want to wear a dress!" I said.
My mom knelt down next to me with the sweetest smile.
"Then you can wear a dress next time. But, please, today wear this suit. You can change out of it as soon as church is over."
I still wasn't happy.
"Please, mom!"
"Honey, if we had a dress your size, then you could wear it. But for now, wear this."
I realized she was right and I decided to put on the suit, without the tie.
"If that's what makes you happy..." my mom murmured
After church, my mom took me to justice to find a dress in my size.
"How about this one?" My mom held up a blue dress.
I went over and picked up a pink one.
"I like this one tho."
My mom put the blue dress back and picked up the pink one.
"Honey, are you sure you want this one? It's a little...girly."
I held up the dress.
"I'm sure, mommy."
My mom went over to the cash register and paid for the dress.
"You can wear it next time we are at church."
I smiled.
"Ok!"
About 3 months later, we were at toys r us (RIP Jeffery 1957-2017/18) because we were shopping for toys. Kai and I had both gotten good grades that quarter and my parents were taking us to celebrate.
"Pick out anything you want." My dad told us.
"Make sure it's under 30$" My mom added.
So, Kai took me to the toy section and we both picked out toys. Kai got a new video game and I got
A makeup palette.
Kai noticed right away and he told me "Milo, there's cars and video games over here."
"No!"
"But don't you think that cars are better for you?"
"No!"
"Milos, that's a makeup palette. You're a boy."
I wasn't having that.
"I'm a girl!" I told Kai in frustration.
Kai looked confused as hell.
"Milos, are you well? Your not a girl."
"Yes, I am!"
My mom rushed over to see what was going on.
"Milos, Kai, what's going on?"
Before I could speak, Kai spoke for me.
"Milos thinks he's a girl. He wants a makeup palette and I tried to convince him to get a video game or something but he wouldn't budge."
My mom looked at me.
"Milos, what is it you want?"
I help up the eyeshadow palette.
"This."
My mom held the palette
"Kai, if this is what Milos wants, then he should be allowed to get it. There's no gender assigned to a toy or, in this case, a makeup palette."
"But mom, he thinks he's a girl!"
"Well, Milos can think what he wants."
Kai was obviously not happy and he started protesting.
"Mom, HES a guy!"
My mom called my dad over.
"Can you take Milos and get him this eyeshadow palette?"
"Sure honey."
I don't know what my mom said to Kai after that, but I do know he never mentioned it again.
One day, my family was in the living room and they were watching T.V.
It was an interview of a woman who said she was born male, but she realized she was truly female. Her name was Jazz.
"I remember wondering why I was male and not female. One day, I asked my mom when will the good fairy come and change my penis into a vagina. That's when she started to realize I was transgender." Jazz said during the interview.
That's when it clicked for me. I am transgender. I want to be a girl, just like her, but I was a girl trapped in a male body.
"Mom?" I asked.
"Yes, honey?"
"When will that happen to me?"
"When will what happen to you?"
"When will the good fairy change my penis into a vagina?"
My mom stopped short and my dad turned to look at me.
"What do you mean, Milos?"
"I mean, I don't like the body I'm in. I want to be a girl."
After that, I don't remember a whole lot. I remember my mom calling the doctor's office, and my dad telling me he'll support me no matter what.
"So, you said your child thinks he's transgender?" The doctor said to my mom.
"Yes."
"How so?"
"He- or she, as Milos would prefer, likes dresses, makeup, and she wants to be a girl. I want to know if medically transitioning is possible at this age."
The doctor typed something on her computer.
"Well, it would be hard, but it would be possible to fully transition by next year."
The doctor gave my mom a pamphlet.
"How to parent your transgender child."
Read up on this, and come back in 2 weeks for the first dose of estrogen.
Afterward, the doctor left and came back with a pink sticker and lollipop.
"Milos, do you want this lollipop and sticker?" The doctor asked me.
"Yes, please."
I took the lollipop and sticker from her.
"Milos, this will be hard, but the important thing to know is your family will support you every step of the way." The doctor told me.
I nodded.
11 months later...
Today was the day. It was finally time for gender-reassignment surgery.
An array of things had happened. I chose a new name, use she/her pronouns, and grew my hair long.
"Nya, are you ready to go?"
I nodded.
In the car, my mom asked me if I was excited.
"So, Nya, are you excited to finally become a girl?"
"Yes!"
Once we got there, the doctor who helped me 11 months ago came in and took me to the room.
"Can my mommy come too?"
The doctor smiled.
"Sure, Nya. But she has to leave when it's time for surgery, ok?"
"Otay!"
My mom and I went to the operation room, and once we got there, my mom got me situated.
"Honey, are you sure you want this?" My mom asked me.
"Yes!"
"Its a big step."
"The good fairy is finally changing my penis into a vagina!" I said, excitedly.
My mom smiled.
"Yes, Nya, she is."
The doctor then came back with 5 other surgeons.
"Mrs. Smith, it's time to leave. You are more than welcome to stay outside if you would like."
"Thank you, doctor. However, whats going to happen to my daughter during the surgery?"
"Well, first, we are going to put her under a heavy dose of anesthesia. Then, we begin the surgery. It would overall take about 10 hours, and she will need to take it easy after."
My mom nodded.
"Thank you, doctor."
My mom then left and the surgeons put something over my mouth.
"Just breathe, and close your eyes." One said to me.
And I did.
I remember getting tired.
I remember seeing stars.
And then, nothing else. I had fallen asleep.
It has now been 13 years since I that surgery, and to this day, I do not regret a single thing.
I am now 18. I have become an advocate for sexual assault prevention and LGBTQ+ rights. My mom and dad tell me everyday how proud they are of me, and my brother and I laugh at the toy store story every family gathering. My best friends are the Emperor and Empress of Ninjago City, who have names for themselves now as Empress Harumi Carter and Emperor Lloyd Garmadon. I have a wonderful boyfriend named Jay, who has been there for me every step of the way. He doesn't care I'm trans- he loves me for me.
Side note:
Any transphobic reviews will be removed effective immediately. This page is a supportive page that accepts any and all minorities. We also accept all sexualities and genders. We uplift each other here, not tear each other down. And, depending on the severity of the review, I will be reporting transphobic reviews to the Fanfiction Press. The email will include your author name, a screenshot of what was said, this warning I am displaying, and an explanation as to why I am reporting you.
This is a safe space for anybody. You don't have to pretend to be someone your not to be welcome here. Come as you are, they say. Wether your gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, or you just don't know yet, you are always welcome here. Never listen to people who invalidate you and tear you down. You are valid. You are loved. And, frankly, I'm so proud you unlearned all of their hatred. Here are some quotes to help you:
