Chapter 10:

Yodel-Adle-Eedle-Idle-Oo

It was late at night and The Young 3 have finally made it to their destination, The Griffon Drive. Many of the Griffons are asleep while three Hippogriffs were sitting by a fire, eating some food and playing music on a harmonica.

" Look at that. Gallus was right, this wagon was heading to a Griffon Drive," said Ocellus seeing that Gallus was right as she sees all the Griffons around them.

" See, what did I tell ya. And Smolder doubted me for a second," said Gallus bragging about how right he is.

Smolder sighed in annoyance and said " Come on, can we just get on with the plan and get out of here,".

" Hey, don't rush these things, Smolder. Besides, it's not like they haven't seen another Griffon before," said Gallus as they continued their walk.

Unbeknownst to them, a Pale and Light Grayish Hippogriff colt woke up and saw The Young 3 with a smile. Then he turned to a female Yak-like Griffon with an ambered uncoat, vermilion overcoat, and a light brownish gray beak and said " Hey, Yona, Wake up,". Yona groaned as she adjusted herself. The Hippogriff colt nudged her which woke her up this time.

" Sandbar, Yona was having the best dream," said Yona rubbing her eyes.

" I know but look at that," said Sandbar as he gestures her to look at what's ahead of them.

Yona looked at where Sandbar was gesturing her and saw The Young 3 with a smile.

" Oh, New Friends," said Yona as Sandbar nodded with agreement.

" Uh-huh, come on, let's go meet them," said Sandbar as he got up and walked to the wagon with Yona following behind him.

Meanwhile, back at the wagon, The Young 3 continued walking while still being tied to the wagon. Ocellus looked at the sleeping Griffons with curiosity and was amazed that they're sleeping peacefully even with an outlaw on the loose.

" These Griffons sure know how to sleep," said Ocellus.

" Well, they have been doing a lot of moving around don't you know," said Smolder.

" Now remember guys, we are only here to catch Slim and His Gang so we can get the award," said Gallus reminding them why they are here.

" Oh, yeah that's right I almost forgot," said Ocellus remembering.

" Pffft, come on, Gallus. It's not like anyone is gonna pop out of nowhere and say…," said Smolder feeling that nothing is gonna happen.

But for her misfortune, Sandbar appeared beside her and said " Hi there,".

Smolder screamed with surprise and fright, scaring Sandbar himself. But Sandbar regain his composure and said in an apologetic voice " Oh, gee, sorry. I didn't mean to scare you like that,".

" What? Scared? I wasn't scared," said Smolder denying the fact that she was scared.

" You sure? Because it looks like…," said Sandbar being pretty sure he scared her a little.

" Nope, not even a little tiny bit of a feather," said Smolder interrupting and still denying it.

" Oh, well if you say so. Anyway, I'm Sandbar," said Sandbar introducing himself.

" And Yona's Yona," said Yona also introducing herself as The Young 3 turned to see her walking beside them on the left.

" Well, it's nice to meet you. I'm Ocellus and these are Gallus and Smolder," said Ocellus introducing herself and her friends to Yona and Sandbar.

" Pardon me of my curiosity, but what are a bunch of Griffons like you guys doing here at the drive? We've never seen you here before," said Sandbar.

" Well, we've come from a place far away from here and we're on a top-secret mission," said Gallus.

" Oooooh, Yona loves top-secret mission. What kind of mission are new friends on?" asked Yona in excitement.

" Well, We're lookin' for this Griffon Rustler who goes by the name of Alameda Slim. Have you seen him?" said Ocellus telling Yona and Sandbar about their Top-Secret Mission which isn't secret anymore since she told them the mission.

" Slim?!" said Yona as her excitement has been replaced with fear and she cowers to the ground and covered her eyes in fright when she heard Alameda Slim's name.

" Was it something I said?" asked Ocellus in confusion.

" No, it's just that no Griffon has ever caught Slim nor have even seen him. And he steals Griffons from right under their beaks and disappears without a trace," said Sandbar.

" Well, that's why we're here. To catch Slim and stop him from rustlin' up Griffons," said Gallus.

While The Young 5 were talking amongst themselves, there was a sudden gunshot and it knocked the pot right into the ground and put out the fire. The three adult Hippogriffs were surprised and startled until one by one, they were knocked out and taken.

" Guys, what was that?" asked Smolder with a gasp.

" You don't think it might be Slim and His Gang, do you?" asked Ocellus with worry.

" Ahhhh, Yona too young to be rustled," said Yona as she screamed and cowered to the ground and covered her eyes in fear again.

The three knocked-out Hippogriffs were then tied to a tree by three shadowy figures as they tied the rope around them.

" Yona, Sandbar help us get these ropes untied," said Gallus as he, Smolder, and Ocellus struggle to get the ropes untied from their necks.

Sandbar and Yona managed to get the ropes off of Gallus and Smolder but they're having trouble getting the rope off of Ocellus's neck. Meanwhile, two large shadowy figures appeared running through the Griffon Drive and flew right through the air.

" Ocellus, what's taking you? We gotta get outta here," asked Smolder wondering why Ocellus isn't untied yet.

" Guys, my rope it's stuck," said Ocellus as her hand got stuck with the rope, and Sandbar and Yona are trying to get it off.

Then Yona gasped and said " Friends look out!".

The Young 5 cleared out of the way as the two large shadowy figures came and landed on the spot. Revealing themselves to be huge Bison-like Griffons. The Young 5 peeked from behind the wagon as one of the Bison-like Griffons pulls down his bandanna revealing himself to be Alameda Slim. Seeing the rustler who took his family, Gallus narrowed his eyes in anger and said " It's payback time. Cover Me!".

" Wait, with what?" asked Ocellus in confusion as the others just replied with a shrug.

" Is everything taken care of?" asked Slim to his Hippogriff henchmen.

" Don't worry Boss, they're taken care of," replied one of the Hippogriffs.

" Good, now let's get these Griffons rustled," said Slim.

Gallus pushed a few Griffons aside as he begins to charge at Slim as he began to brag and sing…

Alameda Slim: Now Listen Up,

There are crooks in this here west.

Who've claimed to be the best.

And they think they wrote a book on how to rustle.

Slim's henchmen attempt to stop Gallus as he ran towards Slim, who got out of the way as Gallus ran into a post sending Slim's Henchmens flying through the air. Seeing that he missed, Gallus lifted the post off the ground with his strength as Slim continues…

Alameda Slim: Well, as good as they may be.

Not a one's as good as me.

And I barely have to move a single muscle.

Gallus came running from behind Slim as he tries hitting him with the post. But Slim moved out of the way and Gallus falls onto his back.

Alameda Slim: They call me mean, Boys!

Depraved and nasty, too.

And they ain't seen, Boys!

The Cruelest thing I do…

You see I…

Slim then appears behind four Griffons who were looking around frightened and placed his arms around their necks. Gallus was now furious as he got and was getting ready to charge at Slim. one Henchman tossed Slim what looked like a gun and Slim aims at Gallus. As Gallus charged with a lion-like roar, Smolder, Yona, Sandbar, and Ocellus cringed their eyes shut waiting for a gunshot to happen when suddenly…

Alameda Slim: Yodel-Adle-Eedle-Oo,

The sweetest way of rustling yet devised.

Cuz' when I Yodel-Adle-Eedle-Idle-Oo,

Why looky how them Griffons get hypnotized.

Slim reveals the gun to be a guitar and tossed away his coat to reveal a shiny outfit. Gallus skid to a stop near Slim and he was suddenly hypnotized. Then Gallus began following Slim along with other hypnotized Griffons. Ocellus couldn't believe what she's seeing as she narrows her eyes with confusion, wondering what's going on. Then when Ocellus turned, she saw that Smolder, Sandbar, and Yona have got hypnotized and started following Slim as well.

Then Slim's Henchmens came in and began singing as well...

Henchmen # 1: He don't prod.

Henchman # 2: He don't yell.

Henchman # 3: Still he drives them Griffons well.

All Three: Which ain't easy when your wings are labeled XXXXL!

They headed to Slim and pulled out his wing to show how large it is until Slim noticed and swatted two of them away while one just ducked.

Alameda Slim: Yes, if you're lookin' from Griffons Point Of View.

I sure can Yodel-Eedle-Idle,

Yodel-Eedle-Idle,

Yodel-Eedle-Idle-Oo.

Ocellus began to follow them with the wagon in tow. Meanwhile, Gallus, Smolder, Yona, and Sandbar began dancing around Slim, still being hypnotized by his yodeling. Then Slim threw his hat in the air as it came down and landed back on his hat. " Here we go, fellas. 5,005 Griffons in the side pocket," said Slim as he points and aims his guitar to a cracked crevice in the distance.

Slim: { Yodeling William Tell Overture }

Soon, Slim begins to direct the hypnotized Griffons to the crevice as he continues yodeling.

Slim: { Yodeling Yankee Doodle }

The hypnotized Griffons kept following Slim as they began to move in different directions and formations. Then Slim began to leap on them from one back to another. He kept yodeling as he jumped on their back again.

Alameda Slim: Yes, I can Yodel-Adle-Eedle-Idle-Oo.

Meanwhile, Ocellus tries to get her friends out of the trance as she grabbed them by their tails and said " Gallus, Smolder! Guys! Snap Out Of It! ". But the wheel of the wagon got blocked by a small rock and Ocellus was brought back to the wagon with some hair and feathers in her mouth.

Hippogriff Henchmen's: A sound them Griffons truly take true heart.

Gallus, Smolder, Yona, and Sandbar were still hypnotized and are now following the other Griffons up a hill in double file.

Alameda Slim: Yeah, I can Yodel-Adle-Eedle-Idle-Odle-Adle-Eedle-Idle-Odel!

Yeah, smack my big old rump if that ain't art.

Slim yodels as all the Griffons walked on a stoned archway. While Ocellus was on top of the archway looking down with worry and concern. Then one of Slim's Henchmen spanked Slim's bahookie and was smacked by the guitar as the other laughed.

Hippogriff Henchmen # 1: He don't rope.

Hippogriff Henchman # 2: Not a chance.

Hippogriff Henchman # 3: He just puts them in a trance.

All three: He's a Griffon Piped-Piper, the size of an Elephant…

As Ocellus was slowly going down the archway with the wagon in tow, the wagon went fast and bumped Ocellus as it slid down the archway and head right into Gallus, Smolder, Yona, and Sandbar, knocking them out of the trance as they all began to scream in sudden surprise. Meanwhile, two of the Hippogriff Henchmens went up to Slim and made funny faces until Slim swatted them away and the two Hippogriffs landed on their feet.

Alameda Slim: Yes, I can really rally up the Griffons that talk.

Thanks to my Yodel-Adle-Eedle-Idle,

Odle-Adle-Eedle-Idle,

I just took the Griffons on a walk.

As Slim sings the last lyrics, his Hippogriff Henchmens began to follow the hypnotized Griffons into the crevice. Then Slim looks ahead to see that the three Hippogriffs have regained consciousness and have freed themselves as they galloped as fast as they can to stop him. Slim chuckled as he then looked to the left and saw Silverstream and Rico running right towards him as well.

Alameda Slim: Cuz' I can Yodel-Adle-Eedle-Idle-Oo!

Slim looked up to see a tipping rock on top of the crevice. Then he took off his shoes and threw them at the rock, knocking it loose. Meanwhile, the wagon kept on rolling with the Young 6 riding in it and the rock came tumbling down as Slim finished his last lyrics…

Alameda Slim: Yodel-Adle-Eedle-Oo!

And the rock falls and hits the ground as Alameda Slim lets out a laugh.
