~ CHAPTER 15 ~
"Tyson"?
"Hm?"
"Are you paying attention to me?"
"Mhm."
"No, you're not. You're daydreaming again." Hilary rebuked the teen who totally neglected her.
The bluenette was fumbling with his phone during the break, looking at it as if the answer for his dilemma was in there. He was sighing constantly because he didn't know what to do. Should he do it or not?
Hilary and Kenny exchanged a strange look.
After a few minutes of endless murmuring from the blue haired teen Hilary had enough. She slapped a hand on the desk.
"Tyson!"
The teen jerked up. "What?"
"You've been mooning over your phone for all morning, on classes too, like a lovesick schoolgirl who is waiting her valentines card! You don't even pay attention to us!"
"Of course I do… um, what was the question?"
A vein throbbed on the girl's forehead as she flashed a tigerish look at the clueless boy. "I asked why did you not come yesterday for the study meeting? We talked to learn together for our last exams, mostly because you have trouble with math and history. We have only two weeks to prepare and you act like you've transported to the moon."
Kenny adjusted his glasses and looked suspiciously at his friend. "Actually, I tried to phone you because Dizzy and I found something on the theatre, but you were off, and I couldn't reach Kai either. Gramps said he hadn't seen you guys all day."
"Um… well, we were hanging out." Tyson stammered.
"Ooh, did the lovely birds finally decide to go on a date? How sweet." Hilary grinned naughtily.
"Keep your nasty thoughts to yourself Hilary."
"Those pink cheeks tell more."
The bluenette's head boiled. "Grr, you're so frustrating! If you wanna know, Kai and I went on a serious match and Kai got… well, he got that crazy idea we'd better skip to somewhere isolated place where no one could disturb us. You know how he is." he gave his best poker-face. Inwardly, he exhaled deeply. Man, he'd almost given himself. Smart dodge Tyson.
"I hope you guys didn't go on full power before I check Dragoon's core, and Dranzer needs a new attack ring."
"Yeah-yeah, I know Chief."
The next class started soon but Tyson was uncapable to pay attention whatever the teacher was babbling about. His whirling thoughts kept his mind disturbed. He was anxious that he'd left Kai like that in the morning. What if he didn't wake up because fever took him down so badly? What if he woke up and collapse mid-way to the bathroom… such things often happened in films… no, that's stupid… but if he woke up and noticed Tyson's absence what if he attempts to go out to train? Gods, why hadn't he taken Dranzer's blade with himself?
No, no Tyson! Calm down, Kai wouldn't break his promise… but he was thick headed and stubborn when it came about beybattle… and what if Boris was already after him? Did he know where Kai lived? Cold panic rushed through the bluenette's system at the horrid thought. Then he took a deep breath to calm his nerves. He brushed his agitated fingers through his long hair-locks. No, that's probably wouldn't happen, or else Boris men had already struck on them in the middle of the night. Kai was in safe.
Yeah, but still…
He fumbled with his pen for a while then gave into his mind's urge. He moved very carefully so no one, but especially the teacher wouldn't notice it, he slid down a hand and pulled out his phone from his bag.
Smartly, he hid it under his desk, on his lap, and typed a short text.
'Hi, how are you feeling? Ty.'
A few minutes ticket by that seemed like eternal. Tyson wasn't sure if Kai had read his message or heard his phone, but after a couple of nerve-wrecking moments his phone gave a quiet buzzing sound. He checked excited.
'Still alive. Pay attention to class Kinomiya.'
That wet-blanket Russian. Here he was feeling anxious for him and this is all he could write? Typical Kai. Reluctantly, Tyson turned back his head at the teacher, feeling still grumpy and total bored, but at least he was much calmer now.
However, as soon as class was over Tyson flew out the door in beeline. The teacher stared with wide eyes just as Kenny and Hilary. He didn't even say goodbye to anyone.

"Kai, I'm back!" Tyson called as he pushed open the door then kicked shut with his leg. His hands were full with heavy grocery bags he was carrying. He'd bought meat, eggs, flour, potato and everything else that could be stored for two weeks at least because he didn't want to go shopping very soon again.
He kicked off his shoes then made his way to the small kitchen. "I hope you're hungry because I'm gonna make something special for dinner that will put you back into shape, just wait."
He put down the shopping bags on the table then dropped his school bag on the chair. Now he felt much lighter. He perked up at the deep silence.
"Kai?"
No answer came.
He looked around the living room with a frown. The flat seemed empty. Tensed up by his eerie thoughts again, he rushed in the bedroom.
"Kai!"
To his worry the bed was empty, too. He quickly checked the bathroom but no use. Gods no… no… it couldn't be! What if Boris' men really found Kai and took him away? His heart started beating frantically at the dreadful thought. His mind was spinning rapidly by all kind of horror images that could have happened to Kai. For a couple of minutes all he did was spacing up and down like a desperate mother hen.
Then he suddenly stopped in the living room and took a few deep breaths. "Ok Tyson, you need to calm down. You shouldn't jump into the worst conclusion. Let's see things clear… Maybe Kai just went for a walk. Yeah." as he looked around better that idea wasn't actually stupid. Kai wasn't the type of guy who laid in bed for long, and there was no sign that anyone broke-in. Everything was in place.
"Ok, let's think this over again." he brushed his fingers through his hair as he ambled back to the kitchen. If Kai just really went for a walk where could he be?
The plate he'd left in the morning with the two salad sandwiches was empty. Well, at least he ate. There was his little note, too… but there was something scrambled below his handwriting. He took it in his hand.
'I left for a while. I'll be back.'
Tyson's eyes goggled. "Left? LEFT?! Argh, that damned thick-headed Russian!" he yelled. He crumpled the paper then tossed it aside.
Just where the heck did he go?
He took out his phone but noticed Kai left his own on the table. Great, so that option failed too.
Then something clinged in his mind. He went back to Kai's bedroom. On the nightstand he found Dragoon's blade but Dranzer was gone. That explained it. There was one thing that no matter what happened Kai would always be up and go for it. Beyblading.
A sly thought hit him. Why not?
He grabbed Dragoon, put his trademark baseball cap on his head, and headed out the door.
* - ~ TK ~ - *
First Tyson went to their favourite place where they'd first met. However, Kai wasn't at the riverbank. Tyson thought hard. If Kai was very obsessed then he would go to a more isolated place where no one would disturb him… a place which was closed, deserted and gloomy… where he could let off his steam… of course! He bumped a fist in his palm.
The old warehouse. It was the place they'd had their first real beybattle and when he discovered Dragoon's power. He dashed up on the hill through the park.
When he reached his destination he knew instantly that Kai was in there. Outside he could hear the constant sound of Dranzer's spinning as it echoed through the building. Carefully, he slid inside the old door because he wasn't sure how bad mood Kai was in right now. If the dual haired was up so soon after such serious injury that meant one thing – he was on revenge.
Walking around the lot of wooden boxes the bluenette finally spotted his friend on the big stage. The area was already in a big mess; there were severe wooden boxes broken in pieces, most of the windows were broken in big holes and the beydish was gashed in zig-zag all over as if a chainsaw had rushed over it. Thick sweat trickled down Kai's face. His crimson eyes were sparkling with fire and was panting heavily.
Man, Boris had better watch himself when he met Kai next time.
The blue blade flew back into his master's awaiting palm, a thick smoke steamed from it.
"Good work Dranzer." Kai looked at his blade contented. He placed it back in his launcher. "Come on, just one more time then we can go home."
"I'd love to heart hat."
The bluenette jumped up suddenly across on the stage. He folded his arms. "So what made you break your promise?" he looked at his friend reprovingly.
Kai was trying to disguise how much the bluenette's sudden presence affected him. Those vivid mahogany eyes shone just as bright as the first time they'd battled here. "I didn't break my promise Kinomiya. I let you take care of me last night but it doesn't mean I'm gonna sit around while Boris is out there coming after me."
"With those injuries you're only gonna make it worse."
"I'd gone through worse when I battled with Brooklyn and I still beat him." Kai stated stubbornly.
Tyson rolled his eyes. "Yeah and then you ended up collapsing in the corridor and they had to drag you to the nurse room. Next time I saw you you looked like a half walking mummy with those bandages."
"Victory demands sacrifices Kinomiya, you should know that already." Kai narrowed his eyes.
The blue haired teen regarded him sternly. He realized there was no way he could drag Kai home with rational talking. Those crimson eyes were glowing with so much flame and passion that nothing could dissuade the dual haired from satisfying the pent up energy in him.
He bit on his lower lip. There was only one option left. "Alright. Let's get on with this."
Kai looked surprised at him. Did Tyson really –
"One match. If I win we're going home and you do as I say. If you win you can rampage around as much you like. Deal?" Tyson took out his blade.
Kai smirked. "I'm gonna make you eat those words."
"We'll see that."
Tyson took out Dragoon's bitchip and placed it safely inside his pocket. No matter how tough Kai showed himself, he was far from his strong condition and Tyson knew it wouldn't be a fair match if he went on with full force on him just to gain his wish. Kai did the same before their big match; he'd battled with the Blitzkrieg Boyz to wear himself down because Tyson had fought a match on the same day.
They took position and their eyes met intensely. The same euphoric feeling rushed them at the memory of their first fight. This was where it all started.
"Let it rip!" they cried in union.
Just as the blades hit the steel-dish Dranzer instantly went for a serious attack. She was shooting fire arrows at the white blade while she tried hitting Dragoon's blade aggressively. However, it wasn't so easy, Dragoon's blade kept dodging every attack and instead of going after it with full blow, he took defensive tactics and played the mouse who was running away from the angry cat.
Tyson watched closely Kai's move. The dual haired was on full anger, no doubt. He was on a serious need to let off that deep anger he'd probably built up in himself for Boris. Just thinking about it, if Kai was in perfect condition and would lash out all that extra energy on him at the championship then Tyson should really start worrying for his title. Even so, right now he just wanted to help Kai let go of it, so he held himself back.
However, Kai noticed this and got impatient very soon by the endless chasing game.
"Quit circling around Kinomiya and hit me already! Or are you too chicken?"
"If that's what you want you can have it." the teen smiled cockily. "Come on Dragoon!"
Despite he didn't have his bitchip, Tyson used his own power to transmit energy into his blade. Big hurricane emitted around the white blade and pushed Dranzer with force towards the edge of beydish. The power was so strong it nearly pushed Kai down from the stage. He could steady himself the very last moment before he would have fallen. He looked over his defensively crossed arms and saw the wicked grin on the Dragoon master's face.
This game was so on it now.
A devilish smile curved on Kai's lips. Oh how much he'd missed to have such a battle with his young rival. It's been for a long while they'd battled like this because they always had to hold back their full power cause of the fear they accidentally destroyed something again. But he was unable to hold back now, and from the excited look of the bluenette he could tell he felt the same. At the theatre they got interrupted but here no one could stop them.
Crimson eyes blazed in red. "Dranzer, Volcano Evulsion!"
"Dragoon, Thunder Storm Attack!"
The blades crashed against each other and a gigantic energy wave exploded, teetering back both teens. The building shook by the extreme impact and the windows broke into hundred of pieces. Blue and red light pressed against each other, trying to over-push the other one with heavy forces. They were equally strong and neither wanted to give up. The battle was lasting for a while till both bladers started sweating.
At one point, Tyson noticed that Dranzer's blade was slowing down and loosing speed. Dragoon's blade was pushing it towards the edge. It wouldn't be long now and he would win this game. He looked up with a victorious grin at his stoic rival to see his face when –
"Kai!"
The next moment he leapt across the dish when Kai went double and fell on his knees. He caught him just in time before he would have collapsed. "Kai! Hey, are alright?"
Tyson's face was on full worry. "Sorry, I didn't man to be so rough." carefully he tried to help Kai stand up from his lap but just as he pressed his arm around his torso a painful groan escaped from the Russian's lips.
"What the -" the bluenette rolled up halfway Kai's tattered shirt and gasped. There were fresh bruises on his abdomen. "Oh my god, did I do this to you?" he went nearly desperate at the awful quilt that he injured his friend even more, unwittingly.
"No. During the training I couldn't steady Dranzer's flames a few times and they blew back at me." Kai rasped.
"Jeez Kai, you know how to hide things from me, do you?"
"Save your mother hen lectures." Kai growled. He still wasn't about to give in.
Tyson shook his head. How could he be angry at the most handsome guy who brought out the best of him every day, and he could hold him in his arms? Dammit his heart was fluttering again.
Then something clinged.
"What happened to our match?" Kai asked.
They looked at the devastated beydish. Both blades laid side by side.
"Um… I think we can call that a draw." Tyson suggested.
"Yeah, I suppose."
Kai sighed. They were so close to reach that place again but they didn't manage. Maybe that legendary match was written for another time for them.
"Come on, let's go back now." Tyson said gently.
Kai nodded.
Tyson took one of Kai's arm around his neck then carefully wound his other arm around his waist to hold him. With a little effort Kai raised on his feet and together they started walking back to Kai's flat. The sky dropped to darkness and the lamps lit on the streets. By the time they'd reached Kai's place Tyson was tired.
"Ugh, Kai did you gain some weight or did your muscles became heavier?" the teen panted as they walked up on the stairs to the door.
"You're the one who is eating as much as a horse. Maybe I should train you harder."
"Ha-ha. Very funny."
"It's the truth."
"Hey, I'm still a growing teenager!"
"With a bottomless stomach." Kai marked sarcastically.
"At least I don't live on tinned foods, Mister-I-know-it-all."
Kai arched an eyebrow. "What do you mean?"
"Well, did you check your cupboards? I had to go shopping because I didn't find eating eatable in your fridge except frozen spiders."
"I don't keep much food in my fridge because I eat most of the time by you and Gramps, are you forgetting?"
"Oh… right."
Their bickering ended just as they stepped through the door. Kai felt himself all sweaty and as if a van had crossed over him. His back was hurting again badly which would give him probably another hard night.
Tyson made his way to the kitchen and started unpacking from the shopping bags. "Why don't you take a shower while I make dinner? Then we can sit in the room and watch tv."
"You can cook?" Kai raised an eyebrow sceptical at him as he stood at the doorframe.
"Rei taught me a few things he'd picked up at that restaurant." the bluenette said cheerfully and started peeling potatoes.
"I've never seen you bustling around in the dojo kitchen."
"Um… well, I don't really have the mood because it takes time and too much work. I rather like blading."
"Other words, you're lazy."
"I better call it unmotivated."
"Whatever." Kai rolled his eyes. He turned and ambled towards the bathroom but on the way he decided to keep his phone in reach. If Tyson cut down his fingers then they would really need hospital care.
After a warm shower he was feeling somewhat fresh up and better. He walked back to the kitchen – only to stop dead in his tracks. His kitchen looked like Dragoon's storm attack had dashed in here. However, the smell that filtered out were good. Among the chaos there was Tyson, busy around. Leaning against the doorframe he watched absently while the bluenette was working. He could imagine this scene for every day, watching the blue haired angel in his home bustling around… like his housemate.
If it could be true…
Having this weird feeling that he was being watched, Tyson turned around. "Oh, Kai. I didn't see you coming in." other words were cut off immediately when he took full view of the crimson eyed teen in front of him. Gods, he hadn't noticed Kai had such white skin and those muscles… He was stark naked, the only thing that covered his body was a white towel around his waist. Those scars looked so hot on him. His eyes held a mysterious gleam. Girls would scream for that sight.
Feeling his face heat up like a stove, Tyson abruptly turned back to his cooking. "J-Just give me a few minutes, I'll be ready."
"No need to rush." Kai drawled. He'd caught the glimpse of pink cheeks of the bluenette and he very liked it. A slow smirk grazed his lips. Maybe there was hope for them.
He walked silently behind the teen. "That medicine lube works well you brought." he spoke huskily.
"Ah… I'm glad." Tyson tried to compose himself. He wasn't aware that he was rolling the spoon a bit fast in the sauce. He swore he could feel the warmth radiating from Kai's body and his rampaging hormones were torturing him again. Dammit, since when did Kai like being so close to him?
When Kai leant closer, pretending like he wanted to look over Tyson's shoulder what was he cooking, his hot breath wafted against the bluenette's neck.
Tyson's whole body tensed up. Kai's naked body was right behind him! Oh gods, oh gods…
"Maybe you should nurse my back a bit longer so it heals faster." Kai breathed.
Red alarm!
Alert!
Red alarm!
Tyson's face was in flames now.
Someone call the firemen!
"S-sure." he choked.
"I'll be waiting for you in my room." Kai whispered thickly then withdrew from him slowly.
"I'll be there." Tyson managed to mewl in the tiniest, mousy tone.
Just as Kai disappeared his hand stopped rolling the spoon. Did Kai mean waiting for him in his room like he wanted Tyson to take care of his wounds… or did he mean like wanting him in his room while he was laying on his bed and let his backside being exposed by the young teen's hands… caressing and nursing away all those pains… straddling Kai's waist… moving slowly and carefully… the pain would turn into pleasure and soft moans were erupting from those enticing lips… until Tyson's hand slid lower to grab the white towel and – Oh for Heaven's sake!
Tyson dashed to the sink and turned on the tab. He splashed cold water to his face until he felt cooler. He shook his head. What the heck was that before?! Did that scene really happened? Did Kai really walk up to him half naked and spoke erotic words in his ear, or his imagination was playing dirty again?
No, it couldn't be. Kai probably didn't mean it like that. He was overreacting things again, thanks to his wacky hormones. Gods Tyson, behave yourself! You must handle this somehow, it can't be that hard. Yes, I can do it. For Kai.
He looked down at his pants and slapped a hand to his mouth to not scream at his bulging tent. Oh for Dragoon's sake! How am I gonna handle this now?
* - ~ TK ~ - *
After Tyson had managed to handle his problem, aka snuck out to the bathroom discretely, he nursed Kai's injuries without getting himself worked up again. Then they settled in the living room sofa to eat their dinner and watch an action film. It seemed everything was back for normal again. Kai was distant and non-talkative as usual while Tyson was munching soundly his own meal.
At bedtime Tyson took his place on his futon beside Kai's bed. "Night Kai." he said with a yawn.
"Night." the dual haired turned off the lamp on the nightstand and rolled on his side.
Sometime in the middle of the night Tyson was rolling around in his sleep…
In his dream he was running up on the hill to their favourite playground. The sun was slowly settling down and the sky took warm orange colours. On the hill his dual haired friend was already waiting for him. His long, white scarf ruffled lightly in the soft breeze.
"Hey Kai, let's play!"
"Sorry, but I can't."
"What? Why?"
Kai lowered his gaze sadly. "I can't stay with you anymore."
Tyson's heart stung. "What are you talking about? We are friends. We promised to take part on the next championship so we can battle again."
"I wish I could, but…"
Suddenly the sky turned dark and the atmosphere became eerie. A loud and sharp cackle erupted. It stabbed into the blue haired teen's heart like needle ice. From the black fog Boris walked out and grabbed Kai's shoulder firmly.
"From now on, Kai is under my control." he grinned devilishly.
Tyson gaze turned angry. "Let go of him! Kai!"
"No use. I'll take Kai with me and there is nothing you can do." Boris started pulling the dual haired into the darkness.
"I won't let you!" Tyson yelled and reached into his pocket for Dragoon but it was gone. "What the… where is my blade?"
Boris cackled. "Fool!"
"No, Kai!" Tyson ran forward but the darkness closed him around and Kai disappeared from his sight. "Kai!... Kai!"
The fog waved tickly around him. He couldn't see anything now. It was so dark and he was all alone.
"What's going on? Dragoon help me!" he cried desperately.
An ominous growl erupted suddenly in front of him.
"Dragoon, is that you?" he asked tentatively.
A pair of red blazing red flashed at him. Suddenly a black monster's silhouette evolved. It opened its sharp teeth and lashed at him –
Tyson sat up startled. His eyes were wide in fear and was panting rapidly. His fingers were shaking and squeezing his blanket. He barely registered when dim light filtered the room.
"Tyson."
Mahogany eyes looked up and nearly broke into tears when he met crimson orbs.
"Kai." he breathed with relief.
The dual haired was sitting on his bed and looked worried down at him. "What's wrong?"
"Nothing. Just… dreamt something." Tyson gulped. He tried to compose himself, brushed off the cold sweat from his forehead and put on a fake smile. "Heh, I probably eat too much dessert again."
"You had a nightmare, right?" Kai saw through him instantly.
Tyson lowered his gaze shamefully. He was sure Kai would start on his get-over-it-speech. "It doesn't matter. Sorry I wake you up. Go back to sleep."
There was silence for a moment then soft rustling sound came from the covers. The next moment Tyson nearly yelped when he was suddenly picked up in a pair of strong arms.
"What are you doing?" he blushed.
"I can't sleep if you keep shooting up with nightmares and it won't do anything good for neither of us." allowing no argument, Kai carried the bluenette in his bed. He pulled the warm covers over him, then he walked to the other side and crawled in too. They laid side by side, facing each other for a while with no words exchanged. Tyson's heart was soon calming down by the safety of Kai's presence.
"What did you see?" Kai asked after a while.
Tyson tried to recall his dream. "There was you… we were on our favourite field. Then Boris appeared out of nowhere and took you away… I tried to stop him but I lost Dragoon… then it turned dark and… a monster lashed at me."
"What monster?"
"I don't know. It looked like a bitbeast… it was very dark, I couldn't see it clearly, just a pair of red eyes."
Kai frowned. Could it be that Tyson saw the same monster he'd had on the theatre when they got attacked?
A hand leant on Tyson's shoulder and he met crimson eyes.
"I won't let anyone hurt you."
The bluenette smiled this time gently. "I know."
"Shall I turn off the light?"
"Yeah." the teen's eyes closed sleepily.
Darkness dropped over the room. Very soon Tyson started on his soft snoring which appeased Kai. Soon his eyes closed shut, but before he fell asleep he felt fingers seek out his own and entwined with his own. He smiled. Maybe there was really hope for his love.
Outside, under the shining moon a black caped man was floating in the air. Far off, he watched the two boys through the window as they were sleeping peacefully. His long black locks ruffled over his hatred gaze.
"Tyson Kinomiya. I'll be hunting you in your dreams. The day you remember of your destiny you'll die."
So, this is it for now. I'm curious to know what do you think. :)
