Chapter 18:
The Chase For Slim
Back inside the mine, Brain, Crain, and Drain were loading the Griffons onto the train and counted them as Slim counted his money.
" 1,420…," Slim counted.
" 4, 334…," Drain counted.
" 1,440…," Slim counted adding another bundle of money into the bag.
" 4,335…," Drain counted.
" 1,435…," Slim counted adding another bundle until he frowned.
" 4,336…," Drain continued counting.
" I...Oooh!" said Slim trying to think.
" 4,337…," Drain still counting.
" Can't you two moron count to yourselves like Brain can?" said Slim irritated.
" Come on," groaned Wesley as he closed his pocket watch.
" Gotta start all over!" said Slim as he takes all the money out of the bag.
Close by, The Young 5 appeared from the edge.
" There he is," said Ocellus.
" Alright, guys, time to put the plan in motion," said Gallus.
" Wait! We're forgetting something," said Sandbar as he quickly remembered something.
" Right, Slim's Yodeling," said Yona.
" We're gonna need something that can help us avoid Slim's yodeling," said Smolder.
" Yeah, something that'll make us like Ocellus, since she seems to be immune," said Gallus.
Ocellus was thinking for a moment until she turned to Lucky Jack and said " Hmmm...I think I know just the thing. Lucky Jack I hope you could forgive me,".
" For what, missy? Aaah!" said Lucky Jack as Ocellus suddenly ripped some fur off his tail.
" Heh-heh, that," said Ocellus as she laughed in embarrassment.
" Now, you watch it there, little lady," said Lucky Jack.
Ocellus then placed the fur in Smolder's ears.
" Hey, that might work," said Gallus.
" Ocellus, did I ever mention that you're a genius," said Smolder.
Meanwhile, Crain and Drain finished loading the last Griffons on the train.
" Done Countin!" said Crain.
" How many do we got, Brain?" asked Drain.
" About 5,000 Griffons," said Brain.
" Wait, what?" exclaimed Wesely.
" Huh?" Slim frowned baffled.
" Huh? Wait, wait, what? I thought you said 5,005 griffons even," said Wesely.
" Of course I did. Brain must've miscounted them. That's all. Huh?" said Slim as he tossed the last bundle into the bag and then he noticed something.
On the ledge was Yona.
" Look, Boss, there's one up there! And it's a kid," said Brain.
" The others can't be too far behind. Just you watch," said Slim.
Yona turned to the others and secretly smirked.
" You're gonna like this. Yodeling's an art," said Drain nudging Wesely.
" Ahem," said Slim as he cleared his throat.
Then he started yodeling as Yona walks off, but she wasn't affected like the other Griffons, thanks to the fur in her ears, and she walks off to the other tunnel. This leaves Slim baffled.
" Huh?" Slim frowned.
Then Sandbar came out as Slim yodeled again, but Sandbar wasn't affected thanks to the fur in his ears too, Crain and Drain watched were left baffled as Sandbar vanished into the tunnel.
" Ha ha ha! What's the deal, Slimbo?" chuckled Wesely picking his right ear.
" Maybe she's just ain't an art lover," said Drain.
" Philistine!" said Crain throwing a fist.
" Shut up, you dim-witts! A griffon ain't be born that can resist my charms," snapped Slim as Drain jumped into Crain's arms and whimpered as Slim walk up the walkway.
Hearing Slim coming, Sandbar and Yona turned to each other with a smirk as Sandbar said " He's comin'. Remember what to do,".
Yona nodded in reply.
Slim soon nears the tunnel and lifted his gut as he cleared his throat again and said " Ahem,".
Then Slim started yodeling as Yona and Sandbar faked being hypnotized and head towards Slim. Slim continues yodeling as Gallus, Ocellus, and Smolder started pushing the cart from behind him, and Sandbar and Yona appeared from the tunnel. And Gallus, Smolder, and Ocellus rushed towards Slim.
" Watch Your Back, Boss!" said Crain and Drain.
" Gotcha!" said Slim as he quickly caught the cart as Gallus, Ocellus, and Smolder were knocked off their feet.
" Where do you kids think you're going?" said Slim grinning at them.
" Well…," said Ocellus as Smolder and Gallus chuckled nervously.
Then Yona and Sandbar rammed and kicked Slim in the rear.
" Ooooh!" cried Slim leaping into the air.
Gallus quickly moved the cart as Slim fell into it.
" Now, Jack!" said Smolder.
" OK!" said Lucky Jack.
" What in rootin'-tootin' blazes is goin' on here?" said Slim as Lucky Jack quickly tied his legs.
Lucky Jack then whacked Slim hard in the face with the frying pan. Slim's face was flattened red and stars danced around as he slumped down.
" Slim! Slim!" said Crain and Drain as they ran towards them.
" We gotta get out of here," said Ocellus.
" Quick, get on this," said Gallus pushing another cart towards the one Slim's in.
The Young 5 quickly climbed into the cart as Gallus quickly pushed and got on as well.
Elsewhere, in the tunnel, Silverstream was running for her life with Junior chasing right behind her as she loudly screamed " AAH!".
" Come back here, Puppy meat!" Junior demanded.
" Whoo-hoo!" cheered Sandbar.
" Jackpot!" said Ocellus.
" We got him now!" said Gallus.
" Plan well done," said Smolder.
Yona and Lucky Jack then saw Silverstream appearing from behind the bend as she ran towards them while she was looking back.
" Watch Out!" Lucky Jack and Yona yelled in unison.
They then crashed into each other as the cart rolls back another way with Silverstream.
" It's Silverstream!" said Yona.
" But how?" asked Smolder as they watched Silverstream roll away.
But her question was already answered as Junior jumped over them.
" Hey, Smart One, grab the bills and fire up the getaway express," said Wesley to Brain as he grabs the bag and climbed into the locomotive.
Then Silverstream rolled by screaming as Wesely saw her vanished into the tunnel. Then he saw Junior snorting as he chased after her, then the Young 5 rolled by and Crain and Drain as they yelled " Slim! Slim!".
" I gave up Clown College for this?" asked Wesley to the 4th wall.
" Aah! Aah! Ooh! Mama!" cried Silverstream as she rolled across the track on the cart.
" Ooh," said Slim still all dazed-out.
" It's Slim! I got Slim! Oh, Rico's gonna be so proud of me!" said Silverstream as she squealed and said " Thank You!".
But her victory was interrupted when Junior suddenly rammed her.
" Whoa! Whoa! Ooh! Please, Sir, Leave Me Alone!" said Silverstream as she saw Junior and quickly leaps to the front of the cart and ran.
Silverstream ran through the tunnel and then saw an elevator as she skids to a stop hitting the board. Then the elevator shots upward as Junior skids to a stop as Silverstream screams loudly and Junior watched her go.
Suddenly, the cart carrying the Young 5 skid to a stop, and Junior was shoved off the ledge.
" Yaaah-hoo-hoo-hooey!" yelled Junior doing the famous Goofy yell.
" Sorry, sir! Looks like we're not going that way," said Ocellus uneasily as the others had uneasy looks on their faces.
" Slim! Slim!" yelled Crain and Drain as they ran out of the tunnel.
" Quick, guys, in here, hurry!" said Smolder as she and the others hurried and pushed the cart into another elevator.
Then they quickly got back in the cart as Crain and Drain got near them, Ocellus quickly pulled a lever, and the Young 5 were shot upward.
" Hey! No Fair!" yelled Crain as they watched them go and rushed off.
Meanwhile, Silverstream ran out of the tunnel with the cart and rushed by Rico who was still waiting for Slim.
" Huh?" frowned Rico.
Silverstream rushed up a lifted section of the track and saw Rico as she quickly stopped at the tunnel entrance and said " Wait, that was Rico!".
Silverstream then quickly pushed the cart over to Rico and stood tall with a smile and said " Ta-da!".
" What in blue blazes?" asked Rico.
Suddenly, The Young 5 rushed in and pushed the cart away.
" Ooh!" groaned Silverstream as she quickly ran after them.
The Young 5 quickly went through the tunnel as Silverstream follows them and Junior erupts from the boarded tunnel entrance and snorted as Silverstream vanished into the tunnel.
" I'll knock you into next Tuesday, young lady! Come back here!" said Junior chasing after her.
Rico then heads off.
Inside the tunnel, The Young 5 were still riding in the cart until they heard Silverstream yelling as Gallus turned and looked back. Silverstream climbed onto some barrels as Junior has her cornered.
" You're going down, Hippogriff!" said Junior.
Seeing that Silverstream is in trouble, Gallus thinks for a moment and jumped out of the cart as he ran to Silverstream's aid.
" Gallus!" yelled Smolder.
" Hey you giant big-beaked cow parrot!" yelled Gallus calling out to Junior.
Junior looked back and saw Gallus waving his tail at him.
" Come and get me, if you can!" said Gallus as starts running off.
Silverstream was swinging her hands around until she sees Junior chasing after Gallus and then fell and hit the barrels.
" Hey! Someone get this off of me!" muffled Silverstream as she tries getting the barrel off her head.
" Slim! Slim!" yelled Crain and Drain as they rushed by Silverstream on a hand-powered cart.
Silverstream managed to get the barrel off her head as she watched the two Hippogriffs rush by. Then she saw Rico placed his saddlebag on her and gasped.
" I'm Rico's partner again, Thank you, Ocellus!" said Silverstream.
The two Hippogriffs whinnied and they were off.
