Chapter 9: Happy 4th of July
The next day, I met up with some of my other best friends Alex Russo, Justin Evans, Max Greenwald, Carly Shay, Spencer Puckett, and Carly's stepfather, Freddie Benson, at Schenley Pool in Schenley Park to go swimming. "Hi, guys!" I greeted my friends. "Hi, Angel!" Alex greeted back. It was a beautiful day for swimming. "What did you guys think of that springlike day we had the other day?" I asked my friends. "I thought that it was a nice break from the summer heat," Carly admitted. "I remember spending a whole day in the cool weather in middle school, and I thought that it was outstanding," she continued. "Do you remember exactly what you were doing that day?" Spencer asked. "Of course," Carly stated. "I was jogging 2 miles down the street." "Wow, that was a very impressive jog, Carly!" Mr. Benson remarked. "What about fall?" I asked. "That is a somewhat nice season, too." "Yes, some good things can happen to us in the fall," Alex admitted. "I went on my senior bowling trip." "I performed my senior marching band show," Justin added. "And, I dressed up as Superman for Halloween," Max added. "Well, I just love the 4th of July," I told my friends. "What could be better than hanging out by the public pool with your friends listening to fun, upbeat music by NSYNC and 98 Degrees, and then having a delicious picnic dinner afterward?" I brought my chocolate fondue treats to share with everyone. Since the others couldn't bring their "Fake-Out Cakes" with them, we decided to eat the actual foods, like fried fish and chicken, steak, cheeseburgers, French fries, macaroni and cheese, and desserts like Snickers candy bars and strawberry crunch ice cream bars. Before we knew it, it was time for the fireworks display at Schenley Park, and my band, Angel Kitty, performed America the Beautiful and God Bless America. Once the fireworks display was over, Alex drove me and Carly back to our condominium in Squirrel Hill. "Thanks for a great day, everyone!" I thanked my friends. "You're welcome, Angel," Alex replied. "Good night, guys!" "Good night!"
