AU: Sorry for the long wait, this was probably the hardest chapter to write. It isn't exactly my favorite one, I re-wrote this like 6 times. Not sure why this one felt so awkward for me. This was the best way I could write it lol I'm sorry if it doesn't add up to par with my previous ones.
Disclaimer: I don't own Glee. If I did, Faberry would have been cannon.
To say that the weekend went at a tedious pace was one of the biggest understatements of the year. It was excruciating for both girls. The Saturday had come and gone, little no to no special surprises were left for them. The biggest one for Quinn was the fact a certain boy failed to meet up with her like they had discussed. She had left him multiple phone calls and text messages that went all unanswered. It was quite unusual for him to act so distantly towards her, but a small part of her was happy. Any time she could have to not think about a certain brunette was welcomed.
Rachel had met up with Finn as promised that Sunday afternoon. Not much could be said about the encounter. The diva wasn't quite feeling the training session as much as she thought she would. It was possible it had something to do with the fact he got carried away with a random girl at the party on Friday and she was once again at the mercy of Quinn. Finn had found her not too long after, shivering outside in the cold. He went back and grabbed her jacket for her before he took her home. They had exchanged some small texts back and forth but nothing more than brief topics over the next day.
Monday had come all too quickly. Rachel was never one to shy away from the beginning of the week, in fact she had welcomed it. Her weekends were often so lonely, the only human interaction she craved was received from her peers at school, oddly enough. It was a bitter-sweet feeling really. She both loved and hated it. Today was already different, she could just feel it. Other students openly gawked at her and the usual whispers followed her down the hallways. This she was used to but maybe not to this extent. For once, no one had called her any names. Actually, no one even bothered to talk to her at all, including all the jocks who loved to mock her anytime she passed them in the halls. Anything that had to be said about her was done in hushed whispers. It was a slush free day for her. Things were beginning to freak her out. Something was coming, she could feel it.

The boy had was shoving his stuff into his locker getting ready to head to his glee rehearsal. He had somehow managed to dodge a certain blonde all day. She seemed to be on a rampage through the school, most other kids were literally jumping and diving out of her way. He had always managed himself surrounded in a group hoping that she would steer clear of him as well. If word got out that she was blown off from Finn, it would only cause her image to falter so it was really the safest bet. It was also extremely dangerous because no one stood up Quinn Fabray. No one ever wanted to. Just as he was about to finish, he saw a fiery cheerleader head in his direction. He gulped, she looked just as pissed. "H-Hey Santana. What's-"
"Save it Frankenteen! You're coming with me." She growled as she grabbed his arm a little too hard. She dragged the tall male down the hall and shoved him into an empty classroom. The poor boy stumbled into the room nearly crashing into a row of desks as a loud door slammed behind him. "Do you have any idea what you have done? Quinn is on a fucking rampage and it's all your fault! She called an emergency practice at lunch, Finn. Lunch! Nearly half the girls were puking their guts out and passing out all day. Now we have another practice and someone is going to end up dead. Whatever you did, you better fix it! I know it was you." She snarled at him and whirled around leaving the boy speechless.
Rachel could hear the yelling from down the hall. She was putting her things away to get ready for their glee club. She glanced in the direction of yelling to the catch the eyes of a very angry Santana Lopez. "What the hell are you looking at Stubbles!?" She sneered at her as she continued down stomping down the hallway.
The brunette's eyes widened. She knew something was going on and maybe this was the beginning of it. She merely shrugged off the encounter and moved towards glee club.
It was a pleasant surprise to see Finn already sitting in his chair on the lowest riser. His head was angled downwards as he played with his cellphone. "What seems to be troubling Santana today?" She couldn't help but be curious. Finn had been acting a little strangely on this day as well. She would catch his eye and he would smile but he seemed to duck out of the way more than anything. Since they first talked, he seemed to be more open to striking up conversations with her, even with some of his friends around. It was rather unusual and strange but she welcomed it nonetheless. Finally someone other than herself and her doting fathers were beginning to see the amazing young woman she was outside of her talent. At least this was something she was trying to convince herself. She had to admit there was a small part of her that was a little tentative about the abrupt friendship that began to transpire between them.
His dark eyes glanced upwards to her and offered her that same half smile that tugged on her heart and made her swoon. "Oh, hey! I, uh. I don't know. Just Santana I guess." He shrugged.
"I heard her talking to you, something about Quinn?" she probed.
A brief look of what seemed like guilt passed across his face rather quickly. If you blinked, you would have missed it. Before anything else could be said, several other gleeks had begun to filter into the room. Most offered small "Heys" and polite greetings and smiles to the two already sitting in the room. But there was one person no one was expecting to enter the room.
It was not hard to miss the flash of the red and white Cheerio outfit with a tight blonde ponytail come flying into the room. Quinn couldn't believe that it had to come to this. Was he truly that stupid? Finn had been avoiding her all day like the plague. He probably thought that he was doing a good job hiding amongst his friends. It was unfortunate for him that she knew of their glee practice schedule, which he had already given to her. If he thought hiding in a group of people would tame her of her wrath, he was sorely mistaken. He would face her, one way or another and the poor boy had chosen poorly. No one stood her up or ignored her. Her hazel eyes were already squinted in her signature glare. She stopped in front of a very petrified Finn with her hands already on her hips; "I need to talk to you." She growled angrily at the boy. "Alone." No other word was needed before everyone quickly began to scramble out of the room.
It was not a surprised that poor Artie couldn't wheel himself out as fast as the other kids, so the stylish boy named Kurt helped him by wheeling him out but being the gossip queen he was, he couldn't help but watch the confrontation between the infamous Ice Queen, which resulted in him not paying attention to where he was going. Even the "Kurt. Kurt. Kurt. Kurt!" couldn't break him out of his trance. This resulted in loud crash as they hit the wall where he almost fell over the back of the chair he had been pushing. Thankfully neither of the boys were hurt in the process. Once Kurt had glanced back up, Quinn had changed the direction of her glare towards the two boys. All she needed to do was raise a single brow at them to cause Kurt to squeak and rush out of the room. She couldn't help the smirk that twitched on her lips, she still had the power to make people jump in fear, losers or not. Except, there was one person who was still glued to her chair and staring at her in fear. It was a strange feeling that the anger bubbling under the blond was not directed to the small diva yet she continued to stare at her as if she was being punished.
Rachel had no explanation to why she was frozen in place. The wrath of the blonde Cheerio was directed at the boy beside her, maybe she was his morale support? Why am I not leaving? I have never seen her look so terrifying. This is a horrible idea. I should leave. Yes, I need to leave, now! But.. what if she kills him? She looks like she could kill him. There would need to be a witness to the crime. How would I possibly explain that? Could I really go on trial and send Quinn to prison? No, she would have me killed. Better yet, she would gladly kill me herself and who would stand witness at my trial? I have to stay, for Finn. Oh, God. She's staring at me. She is going to kill me first than its going to be him. Please let it be quick…
"Did I stutter Treasure Trail? I told you to get out." Quinn was snarling at her by this point.
Rachel flinched; her thoughts were interrupted as Quinn quickly turned her anger on to the shorter girl. She really should have left when she had the chance. She casted a quick glance to the taller boy seated next to her and offered him an apologetic smile. His face was pleading her not to leave, but Rachel Berry was too young to die. She had too much to live for still. It didn't take much more for her to scramble out of the room to follow the rest of the kids.
She left him, it baffled him. Rachel had been all over him, so when he found himself in this situation, he didn't think she would leave him to the fury of Quinn. He swallowed thickly, he knew he was in for it, the look on her face told him everything he needed to know. Today was quite possibly his last.
"You thought you could just ignore me all weekend and today and everything would be fine? Are you seriously that delusional?" A harsh laugh erupted up Quinn's throat. "When I call, you answer. That is how this relationship works."
His mouth opened and closed like a guppy fish. No words were coming out. He shut his mouth and swallowed loudly. Quinn continued to pierce him with her gaze. She was expecting an answer and honestly? He had none. "I, uh. I'm- uhm. Sorry?" He scratched the back of his head.
"You're… Sorry? Really? That's all you have to say for yourself?" She scoffed at the boy and cross her arms over her chest.
"Um, I do- I don't know what to say." He put his head down in defeat. This only fueled Quinn even more.
"How about giving me an actual answer?" She challenged him.
"I'm sorry, okay? I don't really have one."
"What the hell were you doing that was so important to ignore all my calls?"
"I just… I don't think this is a good idea Quinn."
"Are you backing out now?"
The taller boy nodded his head. He wasn't exactly a fan of the entire situation in the first place. Quinn's features softened briefly. He truly was a good guy, but he wasn't allowed to falter. She still had a job to do and he was really her only bet. She moved towards the boy and slid her arms along his shoulders causing his head to tilt up towards her.
Quinn leaned and gave Finn a chaste kiss on his lips. She could feel his arm grip her waist and pull her closer to him. She pressed her lips harder against him causing a groan to rumble in his throat. Her lips moved slowly against his. Before the boy could get too carried away, she pulled away and pressed her lips against his cheek lingering for a few heavy seconds. "Do this for me, and I'll let you do much more than kiss me." She purred into his ear. She could feel him shiver in anticipation against her. She gave a throaty chuckle and gave him one more quick kiss on his lips. "Will you continue to help me?"
She pulled back to look at the boy, his dark eyes managed to turn even darker, he was looking at her in complete daze. He licked his lips slowly and nodded his head. Quinn broke out into a smile and threaded her fingers through his short, dark hair. "Good. I expect an update soon…"
"Alright kids!" In walked Mr. Schuster clapping his hands. Naturally, he was late but instead of meeting a small group of kids, he was met with the head cheerleader and Finn. "Oh. Look you guys, this is not appropriate for school grounds. I understand that being at the age you guys are, you get these urges…"
"Stop! Please. I was just leaving." Quinn cut the teacher off his rant on sexual education. She rolled her eyes and pulled away from the boy. "Call me later." She flashed him a smile before she left the choir room in a hurry.
Finn blinked out of the daze Quinn had left him in to find he was alone with Mr. Schue staring at him, he smiled bashfully. "Hey Mr. Schue."
"Where's everyone else at Finn?"
"Oh, uh. They… left. I think. I don't know where they went."

"You go look. I don't hear yelling anymore."
"What? Why me? She looked as if she was about to kill me Kurt. I assume we must fear the worse and learn to accept the closure that Finn is most likely dead."
Kurt couldn't help but roll his eyes. Rachel truly was a Diva, but he had to admire it. "Come on Rachel, if he did die, its all because of you. She's probably mad that he's in the club to begin with, and you were the one who invited him. So by extension, you caused this to happen."
Chocolate orbs widened at the realization. She gulped thickly and slowly nodded her head. She had to do this, for Finn. If what Kurt had really said was the truth, she was the cause for all of this. She should have known she could never get too close to Finn without Quinn coming into the picture and taking what was rightfully hers. No one would ever be able to stake claim to Finn Hudson. "Okay, I'll look. For Finn. If I don't return, please ensure that my body is returned to my fathers."
"Just go! And stop being a drama queen." Kurt rolled his eyes as she shoved the short brunette.
Rachel slowly climbed up and perched herself on the electrical crate that was outside their choir room. The windows were pretty high up, so she stood on her tippy toes in hope of seeing into the room, of course she came up too short. She gripped the window sill and jumped, no such luck.
"You really are short. Let me." Kurt couldn't help but laugh at the short Diva. In response, she grumbled and climbed down.
He took up her position on the electrical cube and peered into the room. An immediate blush flushed across his as he quickly turned around slamming his back into the brick wall.
"What did you see Kurt? Is he dead? Oh, God. Did I just have Finn killed? What did Quinn do to him? Oh, this is all my fault!" Rachel started to pace back and forth, her mind working a mile a minute as she tried to calm herself down.
"Would you stop? He's fine. In fact, he looks more than fine. They seem to be making out, and it is not a censored way."
The diva stopped pacing and looked towards the boy, her eyes widened. Now she was dead for a whole new reason. "Are you sure? I thought they were broken up?"
Kurt just nodded his head. "Well, that didn't look too broken up to me. Her tongue was down his throat."
Rachel's chocolate orbs casted downwards. If she had any chance at getting Finn, it was long gone now. There was no way she could even possibly compete with a girl like Quinn.
The silence that was coming from the brunette was something Kurt wasn't used to, the girl talked. A lot. To have her respond with nothing was different, but it easily confirmed something he had suspicions about. "You like him, don't you?" He couldn't help but laugh. He didn't blame her, by all means. He had eyes, and anyone with eyes could see that Finn was insanely attractive. If there was any slight showing that the boy could be bi, Kurt would have no issues jumping all over that.
"No! I mean, you can't deny that he has a certain prepossessing to him. He is tall, genially a nice guy. The little half smile that he flashes you is probably the most adorable thing." Rachel began to gush.
"Okay, I get it. Hello, I have eyes! He is definitely one tall glass of water I wouldn't mind taking a sip of. But Rachel, you have to face the facts. He's with Quinn, and no offence but neither of us stands a chance against her." He pouted a bit.
It was true, she knew this more than anything else. She sighed and slumped against the electric box. "I know…" She sighed in defeat.
Kurt offered her a sad smile and sat down beside her. He wrapped an arm around her shoulders in a form of comfort.
It felt strange, she never had anyone offer this type of comfort, or any comfort at all for that matter. First Quinn, now Kurt. Things weren't making any sense, the fact that Kurt was willingly talking to her as well was definitely strange. He was a diva within himself, making it hard for the two to stay friends. It was really a wonder how he and Mercedes managed to get along just fine. "We should go back, Mr. Schue is probably there waiting for us." He squeezed her one last time before he got up.
Rachel stiffly nodded her head and followed the boy back inside.
"Where have you two been?"
Rachel glanced up towards the taller boy whom was seated in the exact same spot he was previously seated. She flashed him a small smile. "Kurt and I went to the auditorium to warm up. So, did Quinn want anything in particular?"
Finn fidgeted in his chair. He felt as if her gaze was piercing into his soul and could see everything that was being planned. He hadn't spent so much time with her yet, but he was starting to realize that she was friendly and sort of cool, in a strange way. It was definitely something he was not ready to openly admit.
"How was that? I think I sounded better that time."
Rachel couldn't help but smile at his enthusiasm. He was getting better with each song they sang. One more challenging than the next, even if it has only been 4 songs he sang so far. He was starting to get better control of his voice and learning when to take the proper breaths between notes. "Definite improvement. You seem to be a bit flat still but it is something we can continue to work on, if you'd like." She smiled shyly at him.
Finn just responded with an eager nod. "Yeah! I'd love to. Can we, uh take a break? I'm getting kind of thirsty." He smiled sheepishly.
"Of course! Here, I already had some water prepared." She handed the glass towards the boy who took it eagerly.
Finn downed the glass nearly empty in large gulps. He glanced back towards the small brunette. This was the first day that he noticed that she didn't seem to pay too much attention to him. Majority of the time whether he was hanging out with her or not, he always felt her gaze on him. Today was different, it was as if she was actively avoiding looking at him. His lips pursed tightly at the thought. Did he screw up already? Was she no longer interested in him? "Hey, you okay? You haven't really talked today. Which doesn't seem like you at all, because you kind of never stop talking…"
She stiffened. That hurt. A little more than she would ever admit. Instead, she masked over her feelings and looked towards the boy with a beaming smile across her lips. "Yes! Of course. I just have a lot on my mind. I was contemplating ways on how to improve your range."
"Ah, okay. Good! I thought I did something wrong," he laughed. "So, what other things did you have in mind?"
"Actually, one of these days we should practice in the auditorium, there is a piano in there. Using keys and you trying to sing the same note will allow me to have a better understanding of what your current range is and then we can work on expanding it. This will also allow me to test your projection. Unfortunately, in such a small space such as my bedroom, that gives me next to nothing."
"Yeah, cool. You know? You aren't that bad, Rach. You're really nice." He smiled softly.
She blinked several times. Did he think otherwise? Instead of questioning it too much, she simply smiled and thanked the boy.
"Finn? Are you well?" Rachel waved her hands in front of the face of the boy to bring him back from whatever daydream he had taken.
"Oh! Um, no. Not really. I forgot our anniversary which she wasn't happy about." He chuckled softly hoping that his lie passed.
Rachel's lips tilted up softly in the response. It had to be more than that, sure Quinn did seem like the type that would be upset over something that trivial but something more was happening. Either way, it was not her place to step foot into the mess of this couple, so it was best to leave it well alone.
"There you guys are! I was looking around the school for everyone. I shouldn't have to remind you about the importance of attendance in this club guys. If you guys aren't serious about this club, Figgins will pull the funding. He is already threatening to disband it because of our lack of members."
"Before you say anything more Mr. Schue. We were all here but then something came up, so we left. You were in fact the one who was late." Rachel turned towards the teacher, her arms perched on her hips in a challenging manner.
Yet again, Finn was stuck between a rock and a hard place. It seemed as if everyone was wanting to challenge each other in his presence as he awkwardly sat there.
