Chapter 18

Ten minutes later Chris, who'd been paged by one of the nurses, walked into Carly's hospital room;" Hey. How are you feeling?"

"Why can't I remember how I ended up in the hospital?" asked she in a bit of a panic while she saw the looks that Jack and Chris were giving each other;" Is one of you going to tell me the truth or not?"

"Calm down, honey. Please." begged Jack worried as he put his hand on top of Carly's when she wanted to sit up straight;" You need to calm down!"

"I need somebody to tell me the truth!" answered Carly;" What's going on?"

"There's nothing for you to be alarmed about." started her doctor slowly;" You were in a car-accident and due to some minor head-trauma you can't remember anything from the last week or so, Carly. But that's probably only temporary."

"What do you mean by that I can't remember anything from the last week or so?" said she shocked;" Have I been in the hospital for a week or so?"

"No, you had a car-accident yesterday and was brought here after that, but what you told jack about what you'd remembered last was about a week ago. Everything that has happened since that until yesterday-afternoon when you woke up here seems to be lost for now." answered Chris;" There's no reason to think that this memory-lost is permanent, so it should come back again soon enough."

"How is that even possible, Chris? How can I not remember almost a whole week?" asked his patient in a panic again;" Why?"

"You really need to calm down, Carly. This isn't good for you and if you don't calm down I will have to ask the nurse to give you something to calm down." warned he his patient worried and gently pushed her back into the pillows when Carly wanted to sit up straight again;" It's nothing for you to worry about and it'll all come back to you again."

"Please do what Chris says, honey. Please calm down." said Jack when there was a knock on the door and relieved he saw Molly coming in with Gwen;" Hey. Look who's back in town."

"Gwen…?" started his ex-wife stunned as she calmed down a bit as her sister nearly flew into her arms and hugged her, ignoring the pain that she felt from her ribs;" When did you get back?"

"A little while ago. When I showed up at your doorstep Molly told me about what had happened and we came down here." answered she;" Are you okay?"

"No, but I will be according to Chris and I'm so happy that you're back again." said Carly happy;" I've missed you."

"I've missed you too." smiled her sister;" We all have."

As Carly was catching up on stuff with Gwen Chris left to see another patient. Since Carly was talking to her sister Jack quickly stepped out on to the hallway with Molly;" That was great timing. Perfect to take her mind off things."

"What's wrong then?" said his friend worried;" Did Chris have some bad news or something?"

"Carly can't remember anything from what has happened in the last week or so. And according to Chris it should only be temporary, Molly. Of course it was freaking Carly out not being able to remember that and Chris was about to have the nurse give her a sedative when you guys showed up." answered Jack;" At least having Gwen here will take her mind off what has happened or at least for now."

"How can she not remember a whole week?" asked she shocked;" And how can Chris be so sure that it's only temporary?"

"I don't know and I'm as worried as you are, but Chris keeps saying that it'll be okay and that it's nothing to be alarmed about." said her friend;" At least he's going to do some extra tests just to be on the safe side."

"What kind of tests?" answered Molly;" So he's not sure that this isn't serious, Jack?"

"I think he's doing it more to set my mind at ease than anything else." began he tired;" He's also waiting for the test results from her bloodwork."

"I'm sure that it'll be okay. She'll be fine." said his friend as she put her hand on his shoulder;" Don't worry."
