Chapter 20

Back at the hospital Jack was sitting next to Carly, who had been pretty quiet all morning;" Are you okay?"

"Could you please stop asking me that?" asked she annoyed;" Please?"

"Sure." answered her ex-husband;" Do you need me to get you anything?"

"No!" said Carly and realized that it wasn't fair on jack to take out her frustration on him;" I'm sorry, Jack. I'm not in the best of moods right now."

"I know, but that's okay." began he with a faint smile as he put his hand on top of Carly's hand;" Hey, it's going to be okay again and I'll be here every step of the way."

"I wish that Chris would let me go home." started his ex softly;" I just want to go home."

"I know you do, honey. But it's better to be sure that you're really okay first." answered Jack;" You'll be home again soon enough."

A little later Jack had finally been able to cheer up Carly and she was in a better mood when Chris came in;" Hi, guys. I have the test results from your bloodwork."

"And?" asked Jack before Carly had a chance to say anything which got him an irritated look from her;" Is everything okay?"

"There is something that showed up in the tests that's unrelated to your car accident, but it's nothing to be alarmed about." began his ex-wife's doctor hesitating as he looked at Carly;" You're pregnant."

"I'm what?" said she shocked;" But that's…."

"She's what?" started her ex-husband shocked as well and turned towards Carly with an angry look;" Did you sleep with somebody else? Who was it?"

"Excuse me?" asked Carly stunned about what he'd just said;" I didn't sleep with anybody else, Jack. How could you even think that?"

"Then how did you get pregnant?" said he;" We haven't slept together since…."

"We haven't been together like that since nearly two months since you found out about what had really happened at Monte Carlo!" answered his ex angry;" I don't know how this is possible, but I didn't sleep with anybody else. If you don't believe me then that's your problem!"

"Guys…." said Chris worried as he looked at Carly;" You can't get worked up like this! It's not good for your health!"

"I want you to leave, Jack! Go away!" began she upset and turned her head towards Jack;" Get the hell out of here now!"

"Do what she says, Jack!" warned her doctor Jack and gently pushed him out of the room;" This is the last thing that Carly needs right now so you'd better go!"
