Chapter 21

Janet was at her doctor's appointment;" Is everything okay with the baby, doctor Monroe?"

"Yes, but you seem further along than is marked in your patient-file judging from this ultra-sound. I think we should do some tests to find out why that is." answered she and washed her hands after she had just finished with the ultra sound;" I want to do some more tests and I will have the results in a few days."

"Do you think that there might be something wrong with the baby?" asked Janet worried;" And how can I be further along all of a sudden?"

"I don't know, but it is possible that your previous doctor made a mistake or that there was some kind of mix-up." started her doctor slowly;" Let's just wait for all the test results and take it from there. And did you fall and hit your belly?"

"Why do you ask?" said she with a strange look.

"Because I have noticed a big bruise in the middle of your belly, a little to your right." answered the doctor and noticed Janet looking a bit nervous;" Is there something that you're not telling me? Is everything okay? Did something happen?"

"No, nothing happened. I just kind of slammed into a cupboard by accident with my belly as I was opening it and my baby bump got in the way." replied Janet quickly;" It's nothing for you to worry about."

Back at the house in Milltown Molly had just picked Sage up from school. She was making a snack for her when Sage came into the kitchen with a firm look on her face;" I want to go and see mom at the hospital."

"I'll take you down there in a little while after I talk to your dad and he says it's okay." promised Molly;" Let me talk to your dad first."

"Why can't you take me now?" asked she stubborn;" I want to see mom now and i know she'd want to see me too because we haven't seen her since she had that accident yesterday!"

"Of course your mom would love to see you. I'm sure that your dad will say it's okay when I talk to him so please just eat your snack and calm down a bit." answered her mother's cousin;" Maybe we can go in an hour or so if your dad's okay with it."

"I want to go now!" said Sage again with an angry look;" I don't understand why you guys are keeping us away from mom, Molly. Is there something that you aren't telling us about how badly mom is hurt?"

"Of course not, but your mom needs her rest. Nobody's trying to keep you away from her." started she uncomfortable, knowing that she couldn't tell Sage the truth and that it was Jack's decision how much his kids were allowed to be told;" I'll call your dad in a minute and if he says it's okay then we'll go and see your mom."

"Okay." answered her cousin's daughter;" But if you don't take me then I will go down there myself."

"You will do no such thing, young lady! I mean it!" warned Molly her, but couldn't help it but smile at the sight of Sage, standing there all independent and stubborn. At moment she reminded Molly so much of her cousin. Then all of a sudden the phone started ringing;" That's probably your dad right now."

Still with a smile on her face Molly answered the phone;" Hello?"

"Was that dad?" asked Sage curious after Molly hung up the phone after a couple of minutes and noticed the strange look on her face, which worried her;" Is everything okay with mom? Did something happen?"

"Everything's fine, honey. That wasn't your dad. I just need to take care of something so I'm going to drop you off at the farm for a little while." answered she quickly and grabbed her keys as they walked towards the front door;" Let's go."

"But you said that you were going to call dad and that we're going to see mom!" said her cousin's daughter angry;" You promised!"

"I know and I'm going to keep that promise, sweetie. But right now I really need to take care of something." sighed Molly softly;" Please, Sage. Just be patient and it'll all be okay again."
