Chapter 24
At the hospital Jack was on his way to Carly's room when he ran into Chris;" Hey, how is Carly doing?"
"She was pretty upset after what happened earlier." began he with a disapproving look at Jack;" I had to give her a sedative to calm her down."
"Sorry about the way that I acted, but it was a pretty big shock to find out that Carly's pregnant and I guess I reacted badly about it because I was confused." answered Jack ashamed;" Is she asleep?"
"Yes, of course she is and will be for at least another couple of hours. To be honest even if she wasn't asleep I still wouldn't want you to go anywhere near her right now." said the young doctor;" Go home, Jack."
"Are you telling me to stay away from Carly?" asked he surprised;" You can't do that!"
"Carly is my patient. If I think that you are doing her more harm than good then I can and will make sure that you can't go anywhere near her right now!" answered Chris and walked away;" Go home and we'll see how things are in the morning, but for now you can't see her."
Liberty came home after hanging out with friends and found her mother in the kitchen, making dinner;" Hey, mom."
"Hi, honey." smiled Janet looking up;" I hope that you're hungry."
"A bit." answered her daughter;" I thought that you weren't home, mom. I didn't see your car out in the parking lot."
"That's because I brought it over to the garage." replied she;" The car wasn't running as well as it was supposed to be so I asked the garage to fix it."
"Really?" asked Liberty surprised;" When I used your car three days ago it was working fine."
"And now it isn't anymore." said her mother with an annoyed look;" Why are you making such a big deal about this, Libby?"
"I'm not. And all I said was that the car was working fine when I used it. Why are you acting so weird all of a sudden?" answered she worried and couldn't figure out why her mother seemed annoyed with her out of the blue;" What is going on?"
"Nothing is going on. Everything is fine." reassured her mother her and calmed down a bit;" I'm sorry, honey. I'm not feeling well and I'm tired. But it's nothing for you to worry about."
"Are you sure?" asked Liberty still worried;" Is everything okay with that baby? Maybe you should have the doctor check you out or something just to make sure that everything is okay with you and the baby, mom."
"No, there's no need for that and I already had a check up earlier today." said she with a faint smile and gave Liberty a hug;" I'm fine and so is the baby. This is just part of being pregnant and there's no need for you to worry. Everything is just fine."
After that being said Janet went further with her cooking while Liberty walked away to her room, but deep down inside Liberty had this feeling that not everything was fine as her mother had said. Something seemed off and she had this feeling that something was going on that Janet wasn't telling her.
