1995
13 grimmauld place :
The old house of black was busting with members of the order of the Phoenix which included the children of the house having to find refuge as they have already been dragged into this war. Remus Lupin was talking to Tonks about one thing or another, while Minerva was waving her wand around prepping the room for the next meeting. Molly could be found in the other room cooking away.
Dumbledore stood at the end of the table placed just for these meeting. Glancing at Minerva, he was satisfied knowing she would be able to take his place if anything were to happen to him. You could never be too prepared. Specially with Tom running around again. This meeting was not going to be much different than others in past weeks. only showing how dire their situation really was.
Kingsley Shacklebolt entered the hidden home with other members from the ministry and Molly instantly rushed everyone into their seats to begin the meeting. Kingsley sat to his left while Minerva sat to the right. Leaving Dumbledore as the only man standing in the room.
He will never understand why these people follow him and fully trust him to always lead them. Looking around he sees the eyes of many he had known since they were young. Much to young to be fighting in a war and now have been swayed to do just that. To think he thought a battle many of years ago would be his last, a battle meant to stop someone he loved from doing something not much different than what he is doing now. That thought didn't quiet leave him as he spoke.
"Welcome everyone. Thank you for taking time out of your days to convene here for our meeting. It has come to my attention that many of you have things you would like to share." he said gathering the attention of everyone.
"but first. I must share some disturbing news" with a heavy sigh Dumbledore continued speaking to the group.
"With the ever rising Raids from death eaters. We have lost 3 members of our cause" pausing Dumbledore allowed the assembled members a moment. Molly being the most vocal of the room letting out a full sob.
"Even so we have people to save, loved ones to protect. the ministry might not see what we see." he let his words settle before he spoke again. "We have been oppressed, victimized, and thrown out of society just for who we are. We aim to eliminate that prejudice right where it stands. Taking he who should not be named with it. We will not allow him to take over without a fight. With these raids on the rise. I have no doubt many fights will begin happening around. be careful.be safe. Never be out there alone if you can help it."
Every last member in the room nodded, a look of determination across every one of their faces. "Please, Kingsley, let us know all that you have to report" Dumbledore directed. The attention of the room swaying to his left as they all heard what was going on in the aura department and the ministry as a whole. it was all not good. Tom's power and influence was gaining. it wouldn't be long now before he had the ministry.
Knowing what he was doing was to stop Tom from destroying the wizarding world and killing the innocent. The parallels to what he is saying and what Grindelwald had said were not lost to him. He was using many of the same words and tactics Grindelwald did back than and it made him feel sick, But not for the reason you would think. Albus Dumbldore missed his friend and regretted losing him. Wanting nothing more than to have him by his side at this very moment.
Without warning the room erupted into chaos, as the children of the house were dragged in by Molly, them being berated for ease dropping. No other than the twins, Ron, Hermoine, and Harry were standing just in the room taking the scolding molly was giving.
"Now Molly dear, this is just as much about them as it is about us" directing his eye at Harry he said "what is it that you wanted?" the group shuffled slighlty but Harry being determined spoke.
"We want to help, it's not fair that we can't. We are just as much a part of this war as you all are" Harry spoke with confidence stepping in front of their group.
Sirius snorted "See this is what I was saying all along. Let them join. Tell them what is going on, they will find out sooner or later" molly was not amused and begun arguing with him. Most of the order seemed to begin taking sides on what to do. Arguing their points to on and another. Both Minerva and Kingsley were oddly silent, Dumbledore looked to both of then to find they both seemed to be waiting for his answer. His direction in what to do and how to proceed. soon all eyes landed on him and the arguing stopped. Harry looked to him with hope and trust while the two he himself trusted looked with admiration and devotion.
"Harry, it is not my intention to exclude you or your friends" tilting his head Dumbledore continued "But you must understand, this isn't going to be like anything you have faced before. you still are expected to attend Hogwarts and continue your education. When it is prudent, we will keep you informed. for now Harry, I need you and your friends to enjoy what childhood you have left." he spoke with his signature twinkled eye. Minerva and Kingsley stepped in after that. knowing the direction he wanted. it wasn't long before the children were ushered out of the room. But not before Harry said one more thing to Dumbledore.
"I will make you proud Professor, We all will" and at that they all left, determination and resolve clear in the Golden trio's faces.
The meeting continued and was nearly wrapped up by the time Albus' mind returned to the present. He found himself reminicing on the early days with Gellert, where he too wore the face Harry had only moments ago.
"Thank you all for your continued persistence in our goal. Be safe out there, each of you. no unneeded risks." was his parting words before everyone stood to leave. The words that came next sent a chill up his spine.
"We will do anything for the greater good Albus" Kinglsey said while standing. most others agreed with the sentiment.
It was mere moments later when the room was empty, everyone was mingling in other rooms or left back to their day to day lives. It could of been hours for all Albus knew. he stood staring out the window, a single tear tracking down his face. that phrase for the greater good haunted him. Oh how he had used it to rationalize his past.
"Für das Größere Wohl" He spoke outloud.
