Hello, it's Dawny. How's everyone doing, hope you guys are staying safe. I should be doing my homework, but I really don't want to, i've been procrastinating all evening, lol. This is an idea I got - I original started a story named Ghost, but I decided that I should do this one first and make Ghost a sequel. I REALLY truly hope that I can actually finish this one, that I won't lose interest because nobody's reading/reviewing. Anyways, we got a new cat from a shelter on Dec. 23, 2020! Her name is Shortcake, and she's one of the best cats in the world - Minerva, our other cat, is tied with her because we can't pick favorites, now can we? Anyways, you didn't come to listen to me ramble on.
Disclaimer for whole story: I don't own Warriors, I don't claim to.
I'm going to TRY VERY HARD to get a chapter our every two weeks or so, or a shorter chappie per week. Idk honestly, i'm very unorganized.

Breezekit grinned as she sat perfectly still beside her sister, Blossomkit. Aspenpaw gave them an encouraging smile, barely more than a kit himself. Mistshadow and Bramblebrook sat proudly with their tails twined, watching as Smokestar gave them their warrior names. For a second, everything went dark, and then her vision comes back, a yellowish tint on everything around her. She watches in horror as she leapt on her smaller sister, and tries to close her eyes as she bends down and rips out Blossomkit's throat. Her citrine eyes narrowed to slits as she turned towards the stunned crowd. Words escape her mouth, spoken by a voice that is not hers.
"You're next." She growls, leaping at her mother, blood-stained paws outstretched but Mistshadow is ready, and slams her onto the ground. Her jaws open, a furious expression on her face, but everything goes dark again as Breezekit is yanked back into reality.
"Wake up, Breezekit! C'mon, it's morning, you're just having a bad dream. Today's your apprentice ceremony, honey."
Mistshadow picks her up by her scruff and sets her back down as Breezekit opens her green eyes. She stands up, and stares at her mother, fear clear in her features.
"No, I can't. I can't!" She shrieks.
"Shhh, you'll wake Dawnwish." Mistshadow gestured with her tail to the pregnant she-cat.
Yes you can, you have to. Hisses the little voice in her head that does not belong to her.
"Calm down, sis! You're ready. I've seen you practicing hunting moves!" Blossomkit nudged her, and Breezekit winced, images from her dream flashing through her head.
"Breezekit, I need to groom you before your ceremony. Blossomkit, you too."
"You first, Breeze!" Blossomkit squealed, dodging her mother.
"Use her proper name, Blossomkit. And get over here." Mistshadow said sternly, grabbing her kit by her scruff and dropping her in front of her. As long licks slicked her fur backwards, Blossomkit groaned.
"I can do it myself!" She protested, but stayed still. Breezekit knew why. Blossomkit knew that Mistshadow needed this, this last moment with her kits before they became apprentices. However stern she was, she was a good mother, she loved them, and they owed her this. Once Blossomkit had been thoroughly groomed, Breezekit immediately stepped in and nuzzled her mother. Mistshadow smiled and licked Breezekit's ears affectionately.
"Can I go outside?" Blossomkit pleaded, bored. Mistshadow hesitated, and finally decided after a few seconds.
"Yes, but only in the clearing. If you mess up your fur I won't have time to fix it before your ceremony!"
Blossomkit nodded solmnely and padded out of the den. Breezekit waited patiently for Mistshadow to finish, and as she was grooming her tail, a call from Smokestar drifted into the den.
"All cats old enough to catch their own prey gather here beneath high rock for a clan meeting!" Mistshadow made a small annoyed noise.
"She couldn't wait until you looked presentable?" She sighed softly. "Well, you look nice enough. Now head on out there, c'mon!" The queen padded out of the den, Breezekit nervously trailing behind her. Blossomkit, as well as most of the clan, was already gathered beneath the towering stones on which their leader sat.
"Today, I have the honor of performing a ceremony. Blossomkit, step forwards." Blossomkit bounded forwards and stood in front of her leader, as Breezekit tried to get her anxiety under control. 'Nothing's going to happen.' She thought quietly to herself.
"Blossomkit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Blossompaw. Your mentor will be Pineflower. I hope she will pass down all she knows to you. Pineflower, come forwards." The calico she-cat padded forwards confidently and stared at her leader, a determined gleam in her eyes.
"Pineflower. You are ready to take on a third apprentice. You trained Fernblossom and Rosesong well, and have shown yourself to be brave and patient. You will be Blossompaw's apprentice, and I expect you to pass all you know onto her." The apprentice and mentor touched noses, and Breezekit felt a tiny surge of pride for her sister.
"Breezekit. It is your turn, come forwards. You have reached the age of six moons and are ready to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Breezepaw. Your mentor will be Slateleap. I hope she passes down all she knows onto you. Slateleap, come forwards." Everything started to go black, but Breezepaw fought it. She would not let her dream become reality.
Why are you fighting me, Breezekit? Your sister overshadows you, keeps you in the shadows as she steals the sunlight for herself. The voice purred silkily, a threat masked in its honey-like voice.
But the speckles of darkness went away, leaving Breezepaw to stand proudly as she bumped noses with Slateleap and listened to the clan chant her name.
—-
Breezepaw couldn't help but feel an overwhelming amount of relief. She had gotten through the ceremony without hurting anyone! Her dream had started to come true, but she stopped it from doing so.
"Congratulations, guys!" Aspenpaw purred, a grin on his face.
"Yeah, now we'll have someone else to gather the moss and take ticks off of the elders!" Hailpaw laughed, his grin showing he was joking. Beside him, his sister, Rainpaw, sat silently, a small smile on her face. Snowpaw shrugged.
"I'm on a hunting patrol, because I can actually hunt. Bye." After a pointed look at Hailpaw, she padded off towards her mentor, Briarblossom.
Jaggedpaw shook his head slightly.
"Don't mind her, she's just being a bit of a fox-heart." Jaggedpaw said softly, a tinge of anger in his tone as he nudged Hailpaw.
"Now, you two should go ask your mentors to give you a tour of the territory." Jaggedpaw said briskly.
Breezepaw already didn't like him. Or Snowpaw. He was bossy and Snowpaw was a fox-heart.
So take care of them. The voice in her head purred silkily. Breezepaw pointedly ignored it.
We're not so different, you and I. I was betrayed by my clanmates, and you soon will be. My name is Lostheart.
Breezepaw jumped a tiny bit at the name.
'No, you're just a kits' tale. Something queens tell kits to keep them from disobeying.'
Ah, but didn't you know? All queens' tales have a basis in reality.
Breezepaw was jolted out of her conversation with Lostheart by a tail gently resting on her shoulder. It was Blossomki- paw. Breezekit would never get used to that.
"C'mon, come back." Blossompaw said softly as she had so many times before. Breezepaw shook out her fur.
"I'm here. We should go get out mentors."
"Too late." Sounded an amused meow from behind them. Slateleap and Pineflower stood with their pelts brushing and their tails loosely twined together.
Oh, they're mates, aren't they? Breezepaw remembered. This should be fun. Amused, images flashed through her mind of her mom and dad around each other, so awkward and sappy.
But Pineflower got straight to business.
"We're going on a tour of the territory. We'll show you a hunting move or two on the way back." The calico she-cat said.
Breezepaw nodded, and beside her, her sister did the same.
"The majority of your training for the first moon or so will be together, unless you wish to train separately. This is the usual custom for siblings or friends. Because we're nice." Slateleap added, flashing a dazzlingly sarcastic smile with a slight flick of her ear. Breezepaw nodded, amused.
"So shall we begin?" Breezepaw asked, noticing the impatient flicks of her sister's tail.
Slateleap smiled, replying,
"Of course."
Pineflower nodded.
"We'll start by going along the Old Thunderpath, up to the abandoned twoleg den. No one's patrolled there in a bit, so I'll yeah you to lay scent marks. And we need to be relatively alert, as always."
Pineflower said, glancing over her shoulder at the apprentices as Slateleap took up the back to keep either apprentice from falling behind.
They moved steadily, the sun trying to warm up the brisk leaf-fall wind. They reached the Old Thunderpath and Blossompaw's eyes widened.
"It's so big!" She laughed, resting a paw on the hard black surface.
"Careful. But yup. Twolegs built it for Monsters to patrol, for some reason. Be careful around it, monsters come around here often." Slateleap smiled, and nudged Breezepaw gently with her shoulder. Breezepaw remained stiff, her eyes wide in fear as memories that weren't hers raced through her head. A large monster barreled down the thunderpath, heading straight for a small gray and white cat, barely more than a kit. She, Breezepaw didn't know who, slammed into the side of the she-cat, throwing her to the other side. A sharp pain jolted up from her leg, and she collapsed, her eyes slowly closing.
"Breezepaw?" Blossompaw asked, standing in front of her in the thunderpath. Breezepaw's eyes widened as she felt a rumble under her paws, and saw bright lights rising over the hill. Blossompaw stared into the light, frozen in terror.
"Monster!" Breezepaw shrieked, moving forwards with the intention to pull her sister out of the path of the shiny monster. After a quick splash of darkness, her vision started turning yellow, and with the last bit of free will in her body, she threw Blossompaw back towards the mentors, standing staring at the approaching demon, her vision tinted yellow. Something slammed into her side, something made of cold fur and bone, and everything went dark.
"Breeze, wake up!" A fearful voice begged. Breezepaw blearily opened her eyes, green eyes swimming with unshed tears staring into her own. To her relief, she realized that nothing was tinted yellow. She rose shakily on her front paws and glanced around at the colorful trees, and Slateleap and Pineflower staring anxiously at her.
"I'm glad you're alright. We should continue with our tour of the territory, if you're up to it." Pineflower said briskly, the only evidence she was shaken contained in her dark green eyes. Her mate gave her an amused look.
"She nearly got hit by a monster, and on her first day as an apprentice! Let her rest for a minute."
Why didn't you listen to me, Breezepaw? You could have ended up like me. Lostheart said tiredly.
'And my sister could have ended up dead.'
The voic- Lostheart, whoever she was, went silent, and Breezepaw brought her attention back to the real world.
"I'm alright, I can continue." Breezepaw said confidently, rising to her paws. Blossompaw stared at her in awe.
"You saved my life."
Breezepaw shook her fur out.
"If I hadn't, someone else would've. And I nearly got myself killed in the process!" Breezepaw let out a small mreow of amusement. After a split second, Breezepaw added,
"By the way, which one of you saved me?" Breezepaw asked, looking at the mentors. They looked at each other, bewildered.
"You saved yourself. You just leapt to the side right in time. Rather clumsily, if I do say so myself." Pineflower nudged her jokingly, and Slateleap laughed. Breezepaw forced a smile.
'But if no one here did it… Who did?' She thought, glancing back up at her mentor, her face untroubled, hiding her inner turmoil.
'Lostheart, you there?' She asked, waiting for a response from the snarky she-cat. No response.
'Lostheart?' As concern filled her, she wondered why she should be concerned by the she-cat who haunted her day and filled her sleep with nightmares. The cat who had nearly kept her from saving her sister.
You know I can hear all your thoughts, not just those directed at me, right? Lostheart's voice said. Relief surged through the apprentice.
'You're here! Thank StarClan.'
A bitterness filled Lostheart's tone.
StarClan has nothing to do with it. A slight purr rang clear while Breezepaw replied,
'It's just an expression. Do you know who saved me?'
Absolute silence followed.
'Lostheart?'
No idea kid.

Summary w/ spoilers:
-SPOILER WARNING-
Sometimes, StarClan offers Dark Forest cats a way out, a way so as not to slowly fade away. If you're chosen, a StarClan cat will approach you, and you will be sent down into a kits' body, stripped of most of your memories. But sometimes cats slip through the cracks, leaving all the memories of an evil cat in the body of a helpless kit. Breezekit is born with Lostheart's voice inside her, Lostheart's memories guiding her. But when Lostheart nearly keeps Breezepaw from saving her sister, Breezepaw is approached by a StarClan cat, who tells her that if she goes to the top of Claw Mountain, and lay in The Pool of Endless Night, Lostheart will fade away, permanently, leaving Breezepaw to live a normal life beside her sister and friends. But on the journey, she finds herself forming a bond with the "evil" she-cat. When she reaches Claw Mountain, with the help of a few friends, she finds herself not wanting to sentence Lostheart to a second death. So she goes back, and pretends as though she rid herself of the demon inside. But it's still there, and it will haunt her until the day she dies.
-END SPOILER WARNING-
So who do you think it was? I know, obviously, so I can't say. Now, questions of the chapter!
1. How are you liking the story so far?
2. What would your warrior name be if you were a clan cat?
3. Favorite warrior cats story on FFN?
My answers:
2. I'd be Dawnspike as a she-cat, a dappled ginger and orange she-cat with white paws and green eyes, or Littleflower (Read my story on Snapshots! Please!). And as a tom, I'd be either Ravensong, a black tom-cat with green eyes, or Cedarsong, a brown tom-cat with citrine eyes and white markings. (I also have a non-binary OC named Aldershine, they are a ginger cat with white markings and citrine eyes)
3. I have a few actually.
