Festival of Evolution Chapter 5, a pokémon fanfic

(A/N Alright, back with the next chapter, much sooner than last time. So yeah, let's get into it)

Sign Up Tent

Ash and crew approach the tent and take a second to catch their breath once they arrive.

Ash: "I'm here for the tournament"

Serena: "I'm here for the contest"

Ash and Serena hand over their Pokedexes and the worker puts them into two different slots on a computer in the tent. They stay there for a second before the computer dings and the worker hands the Pokedexes back.

Ash: "Thanks"

Serena: "Thank you"

As Ash turns around to leave he bumps into Zero and falls to the ground.

Serena, Clemont, Bonnie: "Ash!"

Clemont: "Are you ok?"

Zero walks past them

Bonnie: "Hey you're not even going to see if the person you knocked down was ok? So rude"

Zero: "I have more important things to deal with"

Zero walks over to the tent as Delta walks up

Delta: "Sorry about him, he doesn't really like other people"

Clemont helps Ash get up

Ash: "Are you two entering the tournament?"

Delta: "Yes we are"

Delta looks over at Zero who is also entering the contest

Delta: "He's also entering the contest but I'm not"

Ash: "Then I hope I get to battle you during the tournament"

Delta: "Same here"

Ash and his friends walk away

Delta: "*Under breath* Fucking losers"

Zero: "It's why I tried to ignore them"

Delta: "Let's just get me signed up"

Delta goes and gets himself signed up for the tournament

Clemont: "Well after all of the excitement that we've had today how about some lunch?"

Ash: "Sounds like a great idea"

A cliff overlooking a road

Shadow Knight pulls up nearby on a motorcycle before he gets off it and sets up tracking and scanning equipment out of site from the road. After which he opens a suitcase and begins assembling a sniper rifle.

Shadow Knight: "Don't get why we needed to enter that tournament, frankly it probably would have been better if we just arrived here as observers, all we're doing is putting ourselves in the spotlight"

Shadow Knight finishes setting up his rifle and deploys a drone which heads towards the building the newly discovered Mega stones are being held in as he turns his eyes to the street.

Shadow Knight: "And now, I wait"

Back in Kiloude City

Ash and his friends have found themselves a table upon which they have set up their lunch.

Ash: "This looks great, you've really outdone yourself this time Clemont"

Clemont: "Why thank you. Now let's-"

Munchlax: "MUNCHLAX"

A Munchlax comes flying in and swoops up a large portion of the lunch.

Bonnie: "Hey give it back!"

The Munchlax turns around, sees Ash and gives a wave.

Ash: "Hang on, are you-"

May: "Munchlax!"

Munchlax and everyone else turns to see May looking annoyed at Munchlax, wearing a blue version of her normal outfit. May then notices Ash and his friends.

May: "Oh, Ash hey"

Ash: "May! I didn't expect to run into you here"

May: "Neither was I"

Serena: "Ash who is this?"

Ash: "Oh this is May. She and I traveled together with Brock while I was going through Hoenn"

May: "That's right, I'm a Pokémon Coordinator. I came here for the contest being held here"

Serena: "How neat. I'm a Pokémon Performer, Ash convinced me to give the contest thing a try"

May: "I look forward to seeing what you can do then"

Ash: "So what have you been up to since I last saw you?"

May: "I went traveling around Sinnoh doing the contests there. After that I went to Unova, I was disappointed to learn that there weren't any contests there so I just went around sightseeing"

Ash: "Well that's a bummer for you I guess. How's Max?"

May: "Oh Max is here too for the tournament. We can meet up with him later. Also you said you ran into Brock earlier?"

Ash: "Yeah"

Ash begins to explain the events from earlier in the day.

Team Iron Hotel Room

Captain V finishes setting up a transmitter.

Captain V: "This is V to base. We are in position. Shadow Knight has begun an operation to claim the Mega Stones and Zero and Delta have begun scouting out for potential opposition. We have discovered six unknown individuals. On top of that many well known individuals have begun arriving in Kiloude. Our plans must be either accelerated or pushed back. I recommend pushing the planned assault date back to the last day of the tournament. V out."

V shuts off the transmitter.

Throughout Kiloude City

A loudspeaker activates and an official for the tournament and contest speaks up

Official: "And now we shall announce the names of all the people competing in this tournament"

Zero: "Time to get a good idea of who we'll be battling"

Delta: "Seems like you're getting too into this"

Zero: "Don't act like you're not looking forward to this"

Official: "We have Tobias"

Ash: "Tobias?"

Memories from Sinnoh come flooding back

Official: "Max Maple, Ash Ketchum, Clemont, Cilan, Brock"

Phoenix: "We've got the son of a gym leader in this tournament"

Eagle Warrior: "Along with 3 Gym Leaders"

Thunderstorm: "But do you even know if Brock is still a Gym Leader? I mean he spent 4 entire series traveling with Ash so how could he still be a Gym Leader?"

Eagle Warrior: "How do you know who spent how much time traveling with someone? Also what the heck do you mean by series?"

Official: "Edward Satori"

Around the corner of a building from Ash and friends Delta grabs Zero by the collar and begins shaking him

Delta: "*Whisper shouting* You used your real name! What the fuck is wrong with you?"

Official: "Benjamin Hirocho"

Delta releases Zero and rubs the back of his head while laughing embarrassedly while Zero just stares coldly at him

Official: "Terock Amet, Rocket Emat"

Zero: "Are you fucking kidding me?"

Delta: "How is Team Rocket still a threat to us?! Heck how are they even still around?! You'd have to be an idiot to not get those names"

Ash: "Can't wait to see how those guys do. Hopefully I get a chance to battle them"

Delta: "Ok well we've found an idiot"

Official: "Alexander Brutoni"

Zero: "So Shadow Knight decided to go with that alias"

Delta: "Makes sense, fairly new, not much history attached to it"

Official: "Vernon Sinclair"

Zero: "And there's V"

Official: "Jake, Ben, Patrick, Connor, Thomas, Annie"

Thunderstorm: "And there we are"

The official continues listing off names until all the participants are accounted for.

Official: "And now the participants in the Kalos' first contest. We have Serena"

Serena: "Oh, why did they have to announce me first?"

Official: "Edward Satori"

Delta: "You didn't have to sign up for the contest, so why did you?"

Zero: "Does it matter?"

Official: "May Maple, Dawn"

Ash: "Dawn's here too?"

The official continues listing off names

James: "Hey Jessie how come you didn't sign up for that contest?"

Meowth: "Yeah, seems like it would have been something you would do"

Jessie hits both of them on the head

Jessie: "It's because right now we have a job to do and we can't afford to be distracted by things like that"

James: "But you let yourself get distracted by it all the time when we were in Hoenn and Sinnoh"

Jessie hits James in the head again

Later that day

(A/N So this next bit was written by my friend who helps me come up with all of the ideas for this. Hope you enjoy)

Inferno Ops Alpha Team Hotel Room

Thunderstorm: It's finally time. After nearly 4 years of waiting we've finally got our supersuits. Now I can finally stop asking where my supersuit is, because it's right here. (Thunderstorm was referring to the color coded cases that held the teams gear. The red case was for Phoenix, the blue case was for Thunderstorm, the Purple case was for Wicked Shadow, the green case was for Gaia Knight, the cyan case was for Torrent, and the white case was for Eagle Warrior.) I mean seriously, since we came back I got a new outfit and now my first supersuit.

Torrent: Who is he talking about? And what does he mean by 4 years? We've only been here for at most a week. (Torrent questioned while grabbing his case.)

Phoenix: Just ignore it. (Phoenix grabs his case.) Hey Eagle. What does that note say about our suits anyway?

Eagle Warrior: (Eagle Warrior was looking over instructions explaining the suits.) Well, it says that we have to put on some under armor long sleeve shirts and pants and after that we put on our actual armor that'll protect us. (Eagle grabbed his case.)

Wicked Shadow: Yeah, I'm going to go change in a more private setting. (Wicked Shadow grabbed her case and walked towards the bathroom to change.) Warn me if our suits have anything out of the ordinary.

Gaia Knight: (Gaia Knight grabbed his case which is the largest of all of the cases.) Let's see what we're working with here. By the way, if anyone wants to make bets on who'll look the best, now's the time.

Everyone opened up their cases and changed into their gear by putting their under armor on first. Everyone had a long sleeve shirt and pants, but all of their colors were different. With Phoenix's outfit being all black, Gaia Knight had moss green, Thunderstorm wore navy blue, Torrent had blue, Eagle Warrior was wearing gray and Wicked Shadow walked out wearing dark purple.

Eagle Warrior: Okay, now about the armor …

Thunderstorm: (Thunderstorm runs past Eagle Warrior to check himself fully decked out in his armor.) Looking good. What do you guys think? (Everyone looked to see that Thunderstorm had a navy blue vest that covered his torso, blue chest piece that covered his front, back and shoulders. Thunderstorm also had blue bracers located on his arms, legs and thighs. Finally, Thunderstorm had a pair of blue gloves, blue running shoes and wore blue goggles over his eyes that had a strap on the back of his head.)

Torrent: So, what's going on here exactly?

Eagle Warrior: Okay, it explains it right here. (Eagle was reading from the manual.) The main part of Thunderstorm's gear is his under armor that's made to be wind and heat resistant for when he's running at his top speed. The pieces of blue armor are for protection in fights that'll protect him from guns and knives, but they made it light so that it wouldn't slow him down too much. Also the armor is conductive so it wouldn't inhibit his lightning abilities. Finally, the goggles are to protect his eyes from wind resistance.

Torrent: Okay, that all makes sense, but my question is why is the under armor and the armor itself different colors. The same can be said about all of us because it looks like the same could be said about all of our armor. (Torrent questioned looking at the mismatched under armor and armor.)

Eagle Warrior: Let's see, oh. Here it is. The reason that our suits are that way is to draw attention to the armor of the suits because they're the most heavily fortified spots of our suits. That's why our under armor is darker than our armor.

Phoenix: Well, that's fine by me. (Phoenix was now wearing his armor which had a black vest covering his torso, red armor in the shape of a Phoenix covering his chest and connecting to a V shape protecting his upper back. Phoenix also had scaly looking pieces of armor going down the sides of his arms and legs.) What's up with these pieces on my limbs? They're flexible, but not that solid.

Eagle Warrior: Let's see… (Eagle reads the manual more) now I get it. They're made to be flexible so that if you get injured in the field like your arm got broken or something the armor wouldn't be completely destroyed. That way when your healing factor kicks in you'd still have your armor to protect you.

Gaia Knight: Back to the point about how the bright armor was supposed to distract from the under armor I get that, but I can't even see my under armor. (Gaia Knight was referring to the fact that his armor was mainly big pieces of green armor that covered the majority of his body besides his head.) I guess that this means I'm the tank of the team then.

Torrent: If you're the tank I guess that makes me the rogue. (Torrent had a cyan vest over his blue under armor with a cyan hood over his head.) Simple, yet I do look devilishly bad ass.

Eagle Warrior: Don't forget the second part to your suit. This guide says that it's essential for your success in the field and why your armor is so light too.

Torrent: What second part? (Gaia Knight grabs what looks like a water cooler jug with some tubes attached to it and sets it next to Torrent.) What am I supposed to do with that?

Eagle Warrior: That's your water pack. You attach that to your back and the tubes to your arms so that you'll be able to have a large amount of water at your disposal no matter where the mission takes us.

Thunderstorm: Well, I guess instead of being the team's rogue you're instead the team's waterboy. Do you mind filling my bottle up before I head out on the mission.

Torrent: Nope. No way. I'm not wearing that. Literal waterboys have more self respect than wearing the water cooler on their back. I don't need to wear this crap.

Phoenix: Look, you have to admit that you need it. Thunderstorm, Wicked Shadow and myself can make lighting, shadows and fire respectfully on our own. Also Gaia's element of earth and Eagle's element of air are so plentiful that they're not likely to run out. However, you need water in order to use your elemental powers and while you can collect water from the air it'll take you too long to form a large amount in the field. You kind of need it to perform your best.

Torrent: Well, if water type pokémon can make large amounts of water at will why can't I do the same?

Eagle Warrior: That's because you're a human. While you do possess traits similar to water type pokémon the difference in your DNA makes summoning large amounts of water impossible for you. Heck, Vaporeon's cells are similar to water molecules while yours aren't. It's those differences that prevent you from acting like a water type pokémon.

Torrent: Fine, but it's still bull shit.

Gaia Knight: Let me help you put that on. (Gaia Knight put the water pack on Torrent's back and attached the tubes to his arms.) Okay I'm going to let go now be ready.

Torrent: Just let go already. (Gaia Knight let go and Torrent fell on his back immediately.) A little help?

Thunderstorm: Hey Eagle, what does your armor look like?

Eagle Warrior: Well let's see. (Eagle puts on a white vest over his gray under armor and puts on a white cape over his back.) Pretty simple. I have light armor so I don't have any unnecessary weight to hold me down and a cape to help with my air abilities.

Wicked Shadow: I guess that just leaves me then. (Everyone looks to see Wicked Shadow with a purple chest piece, purple bracers and a purple cape over her back.) So, any descriptions for my gear?

Eagle Warrior: Same as usual with the armor protecting your body, but your cape is custom made to shut out as much light as possible. During training they noticed that your shadows were less effective against brighter attacks such as Phoenix's fire or Thunderstorms lightning so the cape is there to prevent such things from weakening your shadows.

Wicked Shadow: That's good to know. It's also good to know that it looks nice.

Phoenix: It sure does. (Wicked Shadow looks toward Phoenix.) I mean that it's good to know that our gear is made to support our powers and still looks nice. (Phoenix got a little red in the face.)

Thunderstorm: You bet. We all look good and now that we all have our super suits it's time for the Sacred Knights to kick some bad guy but. After a set up mission that is.

Eagle Warrior: There's two more things. First, we each have belts that are used to carry any gear that we may need. (Everyone's belt was the same color as their case.) Second, besides Thunderstorm we each have a mask to cover our faces so nobody recognizes us. (Everyone but Thunderstorm had a domino mask the same color as their case color.)

Gaia Knight: How exactly are these supposed to protect our identities. They're barely covering our faces.

Thunderstorm: You've never read a comic in your life have you. Nobody ever recognizes a superhero wearing a mask. Heck superman never wears a mask and he's able to hide his identity by wearing glasses as Clark Kent.

Phoenix: (Phoenix looked around at everyone fully geared up.) Now we're ready to get the mission started.

Thunderstorm: "Ok so we have skinny green helmetless Reindhart from Overwatch, Raven from Teen Titans, Red suit Nightwing, Moonknight, me as comic book A-train wearing tv show A-train's outfit and (Thunderstorm looks at Torrent) Cyan… Aquamarine… Teal… whatever the fuck that color is Arrow with a water jug instead of a quiver. Tucker color, that's what I'm gonna call it"

Torrent: "What are you on about now?"

Thunderstorm: "References"

Torrent: "No one ever gets your references"

Thunderstorm: "Your lack of ability to break the fourth wall does not matter right now. For now, we must do our job. Adios"

Thunderstorm speeds off leaving behind smoke and fluttering papers

Phoenix: "I'll go and start the distraction. Eagle start disabling their security systems"

Eagle Warrior: "Already on it"

Phoenix: "Good"

Phoenix teleports out in a flash of flames and appears outside the location where the newly discovered Mega Stones are. He then makes some fireballs in his hand

Phoenix: "Alright, time to make a scene"

Back at the cliff

Shadow Knight: "Seems like some fire type has gotten a little feisty"

Through the drone Shadow Knight sees that several small fires have sprouted up around the building and surrounding areas. Shadow Knight's scanner begins beeping.

Shadow Knight: "Looks like Team Rocket will be here soon"

Back at the building

Phoenix activates his ear piece

(A/N Here is the second section my friend wrote for this chapter)

Phoenix: "Okay. Distraction is a go. Get in there Thunderstorm."

Thunderstorm: "On my way in. (Thunderstorm rushes into the building.) Also, are we not going to talk about the obvious fact that you're crushing on Wicked Shadow back at the hotel."

Phoenix: "What are you talking about?" (Phoenix asked flustered.)

Thunderstorm: "Oh come on. You were totally checking her out." (Thunderstorm got to the safe.) "At the safe now. Just give me a second." (Thunderstorm starts to enter every possible 4 digit combo possible to unlock the safe.) "I say that you should just go for it dude. I mean it's not like you have much else that you're dealing with."

Phoenix: "We are trying to take down Team Rocket. Remember, they're an organization that specializes in stealing pokemon."

Thunderstorm: "They're chumps. A ten year old can take them down and we all have super powers. We'll beat them in a week." (Thunderstorm got the right combo.) "I really wish that this was on a pedestal so that I can Indiana Jones this." (Thunderstorm replaces the Mega Stones with replicas containing trackers.)

Phoenix: "I'm assuming that the job's done."

Thunderstorm: "Job is done. But seriously. Are you going to ask her out?"

Phoenix: "Even if Team Rocket are a bunch of pushovers it's still not a good idea to divide my focus like that."

Thunderstorm: "Dude, superheroes always save the day and get the girl at the same time. I mean look at Spiderman. When he finished fighting the Lizard all that he could think about was that he couldn't be with his love Gwen Stacey because of the promise that he made to her dad. And you know what they did get together in the sequel while he was dealing with Electro. Just don't think about how that movie ended. Things between you and Wicked Shadow won't end up like that." (Thunderstorm met Phoenix outside.)

Phoenix: "You mean that Rhino scene that was hyped up in all of the trailers and just ending the movie on that part."

Thunderstorm: "No not that tease, I was referring to the death scene. You know you get what I mean."

Phoenix: "Yeah cuz taking relationship advice from a 2 movie trilogy is always ideal." (Phoenix turned away from Thunderstorm.)

Thunderstorm: (Thunderstorm rushed in front of Phoenix.) "Then how about this? If I take out all of the bad guys on this mission then you have to ask Wicked Shadow out. Deal?"

Phoenix: "Where's the logic in that deal?"

Thunderstorm: "Look. If I am capable of taking out a bunch of Team Rocket goons alone then it shows that they are pushovers and that the six of us together can totally take them out no prob. Besides, I'll be the first one in any way so it doesn't jeopardise the plan at all and if I mess up you can bail me out like always."

Phoenix: "I don't know?"

Thunderstorm: "Look, you said it yourself that Team Rocket is the main reason why you don't want to date anyone. So by showing that they're not that threatening means that you can relax and hook up with someone. Besides, what do you have to lose anyway?"

Phoenix: "You better bring your A game for the mission in that case. Now let's head out."

Thunderstorm: "I take that as a verbal agreement and you better follow your end of the deal when I wipe the floor with the bad guys." (Phoenix teleports away from the area while Thunderstorm speeds off. A van with some Team Rocket grunts inside pulling up a minute afterwards)

Meowth: "Alright the blame takers, I mean, transporters have arrived"

James: "Good, I currently have the guards distracted with a false alarm and the security will be down for the next five minutes"

Jessie: "We'll only need one"

Jessie and Meowth go in and place a device on the safe which hacks into the lock and forces it open. They then swipe the tracked stones and throw in their own replacement stones. They run out and hand the tracked stones off to the grunts before vanishing into the woods.

Meowth: "Hehe, now if anything bad happens to those stones da boss can't blame us"

Jessie: "Meaning we get all the credit"

James: "And none of the blame"

"Wobbuffet"

A few minutes later back at the cliff

Shadow Knight: "There you are"

He zooms in on the van with the Team Rocket grunts as it prepares to go by him.

Shadow Knight: "All too easy"

He pulls the trigger, hitting one of the wheels of the van, the power of the rifle sending it flying off in its entirety, causing the van to spin and flip and crash into a tree. He then pulls out a pistol and walks over towards the van, opening the back door of the van and looking around for the case holding the stones. He finds it and opens it up. He stares at the stones for a moment.

Shadow Knight: "Fakes… with trackers... but no microphone. Heh. Rookie mistake. I don't know who made you, but I can't have whoever did interfering with our plans. Time for me to make some plans of my own"

He collects the fake Mega stones, then proceeds to first open up the gas tank on the van and ignite it causing the whole van to be engulfed in flames. He then walks back to his spot and packs everything up before getting on his motorcycle and driving away as the van burns behind him.
