Hi. So this is my first Murdoch mysteries fanfic. I hope you guys like it. This is about if Murdoch had a daughter and what would have happened if she was a detective like her father. I hope you enjoy it. X

Murdoch was waiting around the police station. He paced and paced obviously looking for someone. Most of the constables thought it was for Crabtree or Higgins. Murdoch looked at his watch whilst tapping his foot. Crabtree soon noticed his boss doing this and went over to him to keep him company.

"Sir." Crabtree said, looking at him somewhat angry and disappointed at the same time.

"She's always late to everything." Murdoch sighed looking Crabtree in the face.

"She'll be here sir."

"I don't know this time George."

Crabtree patted his boss on the back. Murdoch cared for her more than any other, well apart from Julia. Crabtree couldn't think of anything else that could turn Murdoch's mind from a case like she could.

"I'll be in my office." Murdoch seemed to give up.

Crabtree wanted to say something but Murdoch was already gone. He had never known the detective to give up on her this quickly before. Higgins had noticed the two men talking so went over to his friend to see what was going on.

"She's still not here?" Higgins asked.

"No. Someone had better go and find her before the inspector turns up." Crabtree hoped that Higgins would get the hint.

"But I went last time!"

"Well do you want to help the detective or not?!"

"Fine but you owe me one."

Higgins put on his helmet and went out into the street. Crabtree rubbed his hands together as the door opened. It was a cold morning so he didn't want Higgins to be out for too long.

"Oh dash it!"

Samantha Murdoch was the daughter of Detective Murdoch and Doctor Ogden. She was very different to her parents, she was nearly always late and liked to use more brawn than brain.

"Oh come on Sam!"

She ran around the Toronto streets trying to make her way to the station without being seen. She loved her job but to the people she worked with it didn't look like it at all!

"Oh for goodness sake!" She sighed as she took another wrong step.

She took off her boot. It had already broken once and it was now falling apart completely. She hobbled around the next street trying to find the station. She couldn't believe it! She had been to the station so many times, how could she be lost?!

"Sam! Sam!" A voice shouted from behind her.

"Oh no!" Sam muttered as she turned to see Higgins behind her.

"There you are. I've been looking everywhere for you." Higgins said out of breath.

"Well you've found me now." Sam said looking around.

"Do you know how angry your father will be?"

"I think I do." Sam said a little bit worried.

"Come on let's go back." Higgins said, taking the young officer under his arm.

Sam usually fought against this but this time didn't mind. Higgins seemed to think she was mellowing to her new colleagues now instead of not completely trusting them. They walked along the streets covered with people and horses.

"Dad's going to be mad." Sam said under her breath, it was clear to Higgins that she felt awful.

"I'm sure he'll understand." Higgins tried to comfort her as much as he could.

"Yes but Inspector Brakenreid won't." Sam muttered hiding in her duffle coat similar to her fathers.

Higgins put his coat around his ears. That's why George didn't want to go out that morning. It was freezing! Sam didn't seem to notice the cold but that was one of the best things about her. She didn't mind what the weather was, she'd be there.

As they neared the station, Sam became more and more worried. She knew how mad her father would be and had heard the shouting coming from the inspectors office, anyone who was clever would stay away from that as much as they could.

"Ready?" Higgins asked quietly, trying not to get any attention from the officers milling around.

"As I'll ever be." Sam answered somewhat shaking, either from the cold or what was about to happen.

They both walked into the station. As soon as they walked in, they were stared at by every officer in there. Higgins tried to hide Sam behind him but every officer already knew who he had brought in. They then went back to work without a second thought.

"Do you want me to come with you? Try and stick up for you." Higgins suggested with a kind smile.

"No thanks. I think I'll be able to handle it." Sam patted him on the back.

Higgins nodded and went back to his desk he shared with George. George looked up and caught eyes with Sam. Higgins tapped on George's type writer and George got back to work.

Sam slowly walked towards her father's office. Luckily however, Murdoch wasn't in there. He was somewhere else thank goodness. Sam shook off the worried feeling and took her coat off. A suit and trousers were underneath with a detective badge attached to her belt. She rubbed her neck with her hand and then walked over to her desk just next to Higgins and Crabtree.

"He's not there." Sam reassured the two officers as they looked a bit taken aback that she was sitting down.

"Must be wherever the inspector is then." George gave her his usual smile.

"Yes. I hope it's for a while." Sam said leaning back in her chair.

"For your sake I hope it is." Higgins sighed.

"How was dad's mood earlier?" Sam asked George a bit worried about how much she was going to get shouted at.

"Not good. He's going to be angry. Well unless you have a good excuse." George shrugged.

"An excuse?" Sam chuckled.

"Yeah which you never seem to have." Higgins backed Crabtree.

"I do!" Sam retaliated.

George and Henry looked at each other. They smirked and then turned back to Sam. Sam had already seen them both laughing at her. They may have jokes between them but now she was being serious.

"I'm going to lose my job aren't I?" Sam asked with her head down.

George and Henry looked quite surprised at this response. They liked Sam. She was different to other detectives, especially Watts who was away on a fishing trip for the winter.

"No you're not." George tried to change her mind.

"I don't think your dad is that mad." Higgins backed George.

"Thanks guys." Sam smiled.

The door of the station opened and the three people heard the inspectors and Murdoch's voices. Sam got ready for whatever was going to come her way.

"So you see Murdoch whiskey and scotch are very different." Brakenreid finished his sentence.

"Right sir. I'll take that in mind." Murdoch said obviously confused how they had got into that conversation.

Murdoch was the first to notice Samantha sitting at her desk. Brakenreid soon also noticed the young detective sitting there. She wasn't looking at them and tried to keep her head down. Brakenreid whispered something in Murdoch's ear and then left for his office.

"Thank goodness." Sam said under her breath.

"Samantha." Murdoch's voice cut through the silence that had fallen in the station house.

George and Henry kept an eye on what was going on but looked like they were just working instead. They didn't like when the two detectives fought, especially when it wasn't Sam's fault. Sam looked up from her work.

"Hello dad." Sam tried to smile.

"My office now." Murdoch said walking to his office not even looking at his daughter.

"Good luck." George mouthed as Sam followed her father.

"Thank you." Sam mouthed back.

George and Henry along with half of the station watched as the young Murdoch walked into the office. They weren't expecting very much shouting but got ready for anything that was coming Sam's way.
