The Door
So during our most recent session the party managed to locate an abandoned restaurant to rest up and gather information from a downed enemy knight. While the group was getting answers about why their newest "ally" was their target the party's lizardfolk comes across a generic looking door with a set of keys on an office desk. The door was added in as a joke so when the lizardfolk (Azure) attempts to open it the DM (Me) has them roll a d100. It was a 20 so when he opens it a bolt of light slams against his chest and he is granted a vision of a dragon like humanoid roaring lightning into the night sky. He closes the door after a moment and tries to compose himself.
Azure then calls out to the party's 3' nothing Tabaxi (Tobias) who says there is something weird in the door which said cat replied "what? a broom?" Then he notices that Azure isn't a lizardfolk anymore but a cerulean dragonborn. Tobias shrugs it off then proceeds to the door and rolls a 92 and he opens up a door to the plane of fire... and promptly shuts it! Thinking he was seeing things he asks the now dragonborn if he saw the same thing which they reply they did not. Tobias tries again and rolls a 96...
"Welcome back to the fire plane," I respond as Tobias's player freaks out and shuts the door again.
With that tabaxi then hails over to their other party member, a female Kor (yes from Magic the Gathering) to examine the mystic door. The group then does some minor RP concerning the plot before the Kor walks over to the door. She opens it with a 72 and instantly the restaurant begins to flood as she connected the current plane with the water plane. A moment later the dragonborn and the Kor manage to close the door with bit of a struggle. The building is now has about a foot of water inside of it. Both the Kor and Dragonborn agree to never open the door again all the while Tobias is creeping toward Azure with the subtlety of a raging barbarian. The tabaxi attempts to grab the keys from Azure who looks straight at him and asks "you know I can see you right?"
Tobias pouts and wades through the foot of water but keeping his eyes looking in the direction of the eyes. The dragonborn figures that the cat is waiting for him to fall asleep so he can grab the keys so in response Azure attempts to freeze a section of the water after he dropped the item to the floor. The party now has an ice rink in the restaurant and everyone else can rest a little easier now that Tobias can't get access to the keys.
This was supposed to be a joke but it became the highlight of that particular session. I do and don't regret this now that I have had a few hours to reflect on the events during this tale.
