"Scout ahead I need to know where that carriage is"
It didn't take long for her to reach the bridge there she saw them, Meier being hit by the last rays of the sun was on fire as Charlotte held one of Borgoff's arrows to her throat,
"Dust now!"
Flying over head Dust released a loud cawing sound sonar that emitted in black waves causing the ground beneath their feet to tremble, as they stumbled to hold onto their balance. Selena leaped into the air reaching Meier and Charlotte in the nick of time and covering them with her cloak, taking out the flames,
"Inside the both of you now!"
Selena turned to Rampage
"Rampage come!"
Taking the reigns of the carriage, Selena rode them off the bridge and far from the action as the werewolf dealt with the remaining brothers. Rampage leading the way. An explosion erupted causing a massive wave in the waters. Dust flew overhead as the werewolf beast landed atop of the carriage,
"Take the reigns I must see to his wounds…"
"You…"
"No questions do as I say!"
Selena disappeared within the carriage,
"Than we'll go to the City of night and distant stars…when we go there, we can be alone and free to love each other, its true believe me, we will be there soon"
They both turned to the Dhampir
"City of Night and Distant Stars…Elder revealed to me that it is ruled by my father…a man that traveled long ago and shared his knowledge with the world and Vampire King…" Selena spoke
"Why did you help us?"
Selena looked away for a moment staying silent,
"You love him…"
She turned to Charlotte,
"We are condemned...born in both worlds but belonging to neither…"
Selena took out a vial, handing it to Meier
"Drink this…it will help you heal faster and ease the thirst"
Still in pain from the burns, Charlotte helped Meier sit up as he drank, he realized it was blood
"Don't worry its pigs' blood with some herbs I conducted myself…it won't take the thirst away but it will help ease it away…animal blood has helped me in the past"
"I thank you…princess" Meier looked down at her grateful
"Carmilla has been dead for ten thousand years, her ghost is what hunts the walls of her castle"
"That is what you meant by what you told us…"
Selena turned to Charlotte and nodded
"Do not believe what you see…"
"Master…do you hear?"
"He is coming…"
"The castle is near…I will stay here…"
"We are at the bridge…this is where I leave you…"
She turned to Meier
"Remember Meier, not all is as it seems…"
She opened the door and released a whistle, suddenly Rampage appeared beside the carriage, with ease and agility Selena mounted, closing the door behind her, they slowed down till she was at a stop at the bridge.
She could see it from here, one of many of her father's ships, perfectly designed, it would get them to The City of the Night, she had left Rampage and Dust at the bridge, not wanting them near this cursed castle. She knew, she felt Carmilla, she was everywhere, in everything as she stood at the base of the steps. She turned to see in the far corner hidden from view a desk, approaching she saw a thick book…
When D appeared from the shadows
"Selena…"
She turned to him,
"D…"
"Where are they?"
"I parted with them at the bridge, while Carmilla was welcoming them into the castle I snuck in…not that it matters, I can feel her…she's everywhere, in everything…she knows I'm here"
D approached her, startling her as he cupped her cheek, she watched as he lowered his head toward her, his eyes focused on her lips as tears escaped just before his lips could touch her, did he release a grunt. Looking down he saw one of her scythes piercing through his stomach
"You're not real…"
And like that his image was distorted, Selena looked up to see Carmilla; the Blood Countess, she narrowed her eyes
"My beautiful daughter…you're here at last…"
"Quit your mind tricks Carmilla…"
"Is that anyway to speak to your mother…"
"You brought me nothing but sorrow and grief all these years, you may have many titles, but mother isn't one of them. Your wickedness has been your own downfall"
Carmilla stared her down
"That bastard took you from my womb while I slept all because he refused to see that humans were and are nothing but cattle. Betrothing you to that bastard son of his! We were lovers once, I held title as Vampire Queen until he met that human bitch. How could he have chosen her! A mere human over me!"
"Because unlike her you are nothing but a heartless bitch with no sense of respect of life. Mina was a woman of intelligence, of science!"
Carmilla hissed
"Have it your way than, once I drain the life of that pathetic human of Meier's I'll drain yours and once again be whole!"
Selena unsheathed her scythes
"Ghost or not…I will make you burn in eternal hell"
But before Selena could charge at her, did she hear voices; it was Borgoff and Leila
"Looks like we have some uninvited guests…as much as I would love to stick around for our little family reunion my dear…I have some business to attend too"
Carmilla smiled, disappearing into the shadows.
"Meier…."
Selena used her vampiric senses and speed, flying through hallways and corridors, curtains flapping in the air as she flew past, when she saw him, he was stuck in an illusion of D, holding onto Charlotte, just as an enormous swinging ax began its way toward him.
Selena shoved him out of the way her scythes connecting with the axe, protecting her from getting sliced as Meier hit one of the marble pillars, shaking his head. With a roar, Selene sliced the ax in half before running over to him
"Meier…snap out of it!"
Meier looked down to see Selena
"Selena?"
"You must get to Charlotte now!"
"But…"
"It was illusion! Carmilla is feeding on your fears and desires! You must get back to Charlotte…meet me back at the ship!"
Now she had to find D and the others.
They parted ways halfway down the corridor, doors flew open as she sped through only to be stopped as flames and burning buildings greeted her when she saw him. Standing there, the little boy, covered in bite marks and blood
"You could have saved me!"
Tears filled his pained eyes
"Why didn't you save me!"
"Now you're just desperate Carmilla…do you not think I can see past your illusions!"
Selena growled continuing forward, passing by the crying child, the second set of doors burst open, seeing D, yanking Leila out of way just as a chandler crashed in the same spot she would have been,
"It's just an illusion…Carmilla's playing with us"
Selena approached them just as she heard her laughter,
"Excellent…what fun…I haven't had this much fun in centuries…you don't mind do you? It just makes things so much more interesting"
Selena turned to see her in the far corner, standing on the left side of the wall
"Your doing very well by the way, very well indeed"
"The woman…where are you hiding her?"
Carmilla narrowed her eyes before disappearing in a fog of bats, just as D dodged an arrow, both turned to see Borgoff
"Borgoff what are you doing we don't have time for this…"
"Leila…get away from him…" Selena warned
"That isn't Borgoff anymore…"
"What the hell are you talking…"
Leila turned to Selena giving Borgoff the opening to grab her, fangs lengthening, threatening to pierce her throat
"Drop your weapon Dhampir!"
Two light blasts shot out hitting Borgoff in the arm, causing him to release Leila as Selena turned to see Grove's spirit appear attacking a wounded Borgoff, they were losing time as she turned and ran out of the room, D running beside her, when she felt it
"Shit!"
Selena increased her speed unsheathing her scythes, blue flames coming to life as the double doors burst open, both stopped just as a white worm hole opened,
"Look she's coming! Carmilla!"
Powerful winds began to blow, as a dimension opened
"The spirit of Carmilla!"
Both walked toward the light, walking into the dimension when lightening hit them, throwing them on their knees, pain shot through them
"Dhampir Hunter! Your mother was human, but your father was a vampire and you're betraying his ancient blood. You side with humans against us." She spoke with fury in her voice as she shot another burning bolt of lightening
"Even my own daughter!"
Selena screamed as she shot her down with another hit
"Our people are facing extinction, and you are contributing to their demise. You stalk and kill your own ancestors, Dhampir."
She could feel her, just beneath her skin, they both could, their fangs lengthen, their eyes the color of crimson
"You should be ashamed!"
Selena for the first time in years did she allow her vampiric beast to surface, nails lengthened as the bolts got stronger with each hit, did it fuel her beast
"Your human self is your weaker self! Humans are nothing more than livestock, we prey on them as they prey on beast! This is the rule of nature!"
"That…is where you are wrong! Proven time and again Carmilla…not even the great Vampire King could save his own kind! He knew this more so than anyone else!" Selena's words slurred between fangs but rang true
"The Vampire King was a fool! He sided with humans which was his downfall! Join me daughter…the human's blood will be enough to resurrect me! We will rule!"
"Your time is coming to an end! Your kind must face extinction! You cannot survive! You must die! That is the rule of nature!"
"Ah…very strong words for a Dhampir. But you seem to forget that our spirits…are eternal"
"No Carmilla…nothing lasts forever…"
She could see it in her eyes,
"I knew better than to reason with your kind…I guess my only option is to use force"
Bolts shot from above, running through his entire body in excruciating pain, Selena felt it, in her body and soul
"No!"
D arched his back, screaming in pain, as Carmilla used all her force
"Who knew you would end up falling for your betrothed daughter…" Carmilla laughed
"I can feel it inside you, his pain is your pain…The Vampire King did well having his witch bind your souls together, its like killing two bird with one stone"
Carmilla laughed as she increased her power, his screams turned into a beasts roar, suddenly D was surrounded by a black shield, blocking the bolts around him and than Selena
Carmilla stared in shock as the dimension broke under his power, she turned just in time to see D's sword plunging into her heart.
Selena stood sheathing her scythes as she faced D and the spirit of Carmilla
"You truly are…the son of The Vampire King…even surpassing his own power"
Selena could see, his Left Hand, there a face on a cancerous looking lump, sucking the soul of Carmilla; The Blood Countess.
Soon everything was silent, all but D's heavy breathing as he tried to contain the beast within him.
He felt her cool hand over his
"D…we must leave…this castle will soon crumble now that she's dead for good"
It's coming to an end sadly, maybe if I can brainstorm and with more research I can come up with something to continue Selena and D's story
