Meier held her tightly in his arms as Leila pointed her gun at him, as he stood up with her in his arms
"Stop right there Meier"
Meier turned to look down at D
"I'm taking her back…back to her family who loved her"
"And yet…they would have kept her caged, like a bird with it's wings cut off…" Selena said walking up the steps to stand before him
"You knew this" she whispered
Meier looked down at the young Dhampir, who stared up at him for a moment
"I'm losing time…"
Meier turned to D, only for his red gaze to return to Selena as she placed a hand on his arm
"Trust me"
Meier turned and gently placed Charlotte on the marbled floor, as Selena released a loud whistle, suddenly Dust swooped in as she kneeled in front of Charlotte, removing her ring,
"Ravens and Crows are said to be spirit guides to those who pass…"
Dust perched himself right over Charlotte's chest, his long sharp beak, inches away from her lips, opening his beak, a beautiful swirling orb appeared, as fast as it appeared it disappeared within Charlotte's lips, Dust perched himself on Selena's shoulder as they watched intently, when her chest rose and she breathed in a lungful of breath.
Meier could not believe his eyes as Charlotte's amber eyes opened, blinking, he quickly kneeled beside her
"Charlotte?"
He gripped her small hand in his larger one
"My…Love…"
"Oh…Charlotte…my sweet Charlotte"
Meier hugged her tightly
"She is still weak from the loss of blood, everything you need will be on the ship" Selena handed him a small thin vile, holding a dark liquid
"It is my blood…once on the ship, give this to her, it will safely turn her, once you get to The City of Night, ask for Alexander Night…he is the prince, he will help you"
"How do you know all this?"
"A book I found…it belonged to him which he left, in his years here he had helped Vampires and Humans who shared your love to escape the judgment here on Earth…"
The castle began to crumble, squeezing his arm she gave him a sincere smile
"Go now you run out of time…"
Meier turned to D,
"I hope…he will open his heart to you…"
They watched as the ship took to the sky, in two days' time, they would reach their destination
"You know that reward money is rightfully mine, but hey I'm generous so I'll let you keep it this onetime"
Selena turned to D and Leila and chuckled as Leila mounted, turning she threw the ring at him which he caught in mid-air
"Goodbye…friend"
They turned to her just as she nudged Rampage into a gallop, speeding away in their own direction Dust, leading the way.
"You know…you shouldn't let happiness slip through your fingers Dhampir, at least with her you won't be alone. I would sleep better at night knowing you two are slaying monsters together" Leila commented as D nudged his horse into gear.
