I've seen your reviews, suggesting a compilation of one shots to do with this couple. Or a continuation with one of my shorter stories. I HONESTLY LOVE THE IDEA... BUT! I'm a mom of two. I'm also about to start working and planning a wedding for next year. I have zero time on my hands. Not like I used to.
This only has two chapters left. I plan on having them be my longest chapters this story has seen so they might take a while!
I also want to thank those who review and A HUGE SHOUTOUT for that person who reminded me that I haven't updated this since JULY.
Thank you. Seriously. You're reviews and thoughts on this means THE WORLD.
I appreciate you. Every single one. Sorry for any typos!
Her back was towards her friends, the shimmer of the tully dress sparkled when she swayed back and forth. Her lightly curled hair swooshed with her movements, tickling her back. Her lips parted as she stared at herself in awe. The off white dress made her tan skin pop like nothing before. She watched everyone's reactions, tears glistening on her bridal parties eyes, her own mother smiling back tears into a tissue.
The bridal consultant handed her a fake flower bouquet they had in the store.
"Oh my lanta."
"Stop it!"
"That's the one."
"My baby."
She heard it all at the same time, but she looked for one person's affirmation, she stood silent and stared hard and cold. Her heartbeat was in her throat when she stood up, eyeing her up and down.
"That…Is... Your dress!"
Everyone cheered.
She looked back at herself, fighting back her own tears as she fingered the detailed neckline of the sweetheart neckline, following the corset middle and finally the tulle skirt.
"This is my dress."
Tori fought tears as she stared at herself into the guest bathroom mirror.
That day her sister had visited from studying at San Francisco's fashion school, Tori and her mom Helen decided to grab brunch with Tori's friends who were also friendly with Trina. After Trina left she didn't really keep contact with people in Los Angeles so Tori's friends had adopted her as their own.
After one too many mimosas they decided to walk around West Hollywood where they found a bridal boutique and for shit and giggles they all walked in with Tori playing the bride act.
"Who's the lucky bride to be?"
"Well, technically not yet, but one day soon, I hope."
"Beck's a fucking moron for not asking already."
"Trina Faith!" Helen scolded.
"We're all thinking it, mom."
A bunch of nods and 'hell yeah's were heard in the quiet shop.
The consultant, Jackie, laughed as she looked at Tori, "well you can shop for one, and I'll give you the whole experience so you can see what to look forward to."
Jackie brought the group of girls more mimosas, and they were in no mood to deny them.
Tori stood at the altar, looking at her best friend and also the one who got away.
Her feelings and emotions were everywhere, looking at Beck and Adam who was patiently waiting, still, for an answer made her stomach turn into knots.
She droned out the whole rehearsal. She saw Cat's immediate family, her parents and brother had driven to Tahoe for the rehearsal. Tori said her hello's to Robbie's family too before she grabbed a champagne flute and snuck outside.
She downed half the drink before she heard the door slide open and closed, she felt a chill run down her back, she hugged her jacket closer to her skin.
"Surprised to see you out here." Andre's voice boomed behind her.
"Hey Dre, what's up?"
"Hey Tor, what's up with you."
Tori smiled sadly before finishing off her drink.
"Why aren't you inside enjoying the party with your wife?"
"Well, Robbie's mom got a hold of her and has not let her go. And I just finished a sick setlist, which you missed by the way." Andre nudged her shoulder, "I also saw that my best friend was missing and I only knew where to find you."
"Out on a balcony."
"Just like high school. Somethings just don't change, huh?"
"Why fix something that isn't broken."
"You are not broken but more like you're confused."
Tori sighed, she wished she wasn't such a transparent book in front of Andre. But of course they had been best friends all high school, till college, he made his own friends and so did Tori. They just couldn't get their schedules to line up together but they were always there for big things. Andre's first gig, Tori's first performance with their college dance team, Andre's engagement party to Danielle, Andre's wedding, Tori's final break up with Beck.
"Talk to me."
"Oh you know, same shit, different day."
"No Tori, talk to me. Not someone normal, not Cat, me. Dre."
"I don't know where to start."
"Start from the beginning of this love triangle."
From inside Beck had been looking for Tori on the low, going around to different places of the room, socializing and then excusing himself to 'talk' to other people. When in reality he was just eyeing the room, looking for her long locks.
He landed on the last place he would look, if she wasn't there then she had made her way back to their cabin, they had one more day before they were going to head back to the city, before he was going to give up living under the same roof as her.
"You're not going to win her back." Adam said behind him.
"Oh yeah, you sound pretty confident about that."
"That's because I am pretty confident about it."
"What makes you so sure you're not going to choke like so many years before?"
"Because I had her in my bed four days into this eight day trip."
'Yeah but now she's sleeping on the couch and I'm sleeping alone but wont be for long. Where is she now? On the couch because she knows she wants me but doesnt want to rub it in your ugly, fucking-"
"Cut it the fuck out!" Robbie said getting in between both hot heads, "this is my fucking wedding and not a dick contest. So chill the fuck out and let everyone fucking breathe. Let Tori fucking breathe, you fucking piranhas."
Everyone stood quiet. Cat was the first to slow clap before having the whole room erupt in applause.
"Robbie grew a dick!" Robbie's older brother, Sam yelled. Boys.
Adam scoffed as he shoulder checked Beck, heading the way to the restroom.
The restroom, he hadn't checked there. The girls bathroom was on the opposite side of the room, and he let his legs take him to where he needed to be.
Ella came out of the bathroom when Beck found where they were.
"If you're looking for Tori I saw her talking to Andre on the balcony." Ella said with a small smile. Beck didn't really know Ella, aside from her being a fifth grade teacher and being Brody's girl. Tori hit it off with her the moment they met and Beck was just too much of a dick to even try.
"Hey thanks," Beck said, Ella nodded and was heading back to the party.
Beck put a hand lightly on her shoulder, stopping her and making her turn around, "sorry i was such an asshole before. I was too caught up with my own shit and life that I took everything good in it for granted. Including Tori. I'm also sorry I never tried to get to know you before. I'm hoping we can change that. You and Brody both. I'd like to get to know you guys better."
Ella smiled and nodded, "good luck."
Beck took off, grabbing his jacket and headed to where the balconies were. When he reached them he saw Andre smoke a cigar, alone.
"Hey man. Have you seen Tori?"
"She took off man."
"What?"
"Went back to the cottage."
"How long ago?" Beck asked in a panic.
"Doesn't matter."
"No! If i leave now, i can reach her and talk to her, and get her to…"
"Doesn't matter man. She left back to LA. She's not going to be there. And they're expecting your speech next. You cant really leave."
"FUCK the speeches man, Tori needed to make a speech too! Cat wouldn't have let her leave. I can still cat-"
"It was Cat's idea to have her go. She needs space. Space alone in the comfort of her own home. She needs this Beck. Don't fuck this up because its not what you want. Take a step back and realize what you've done to her when all you've thought was 'what is best for beck'. You've broken her and now she needs to put herself back together before she jumps into something with WHOMEVER. You… Adam… The fucking bellboy. Hell whoever she chooses for herself next."
Beck stood there and took every single word, every single syllable Andre said and they felt like icicles stabbing his chest.
Has he really been that blind?
