Chapter ten:
"What appears to be the issue?" L questions with curiosity watching the blonde haired girl next to him.
"Light is planning to give up the Death note for a bit. To try to throw off anyone's suspicion of him. Giving up the Death note means that he will lose his memory until he touches it again." Misa explains glancing down worriedly as she knows that this is a big issue. One that she can't stop from happening without being suspicious to the man that they are trying to catch.
L brushes his bottom lip with his thumb in thought upon hearing this news. He turns spotting how worried Misa is over this. He moves his hand and places it on her own.
Misa blinks feeling a hand then turns to see what the raven haired male had done. She looks to his face feeling her own heat up in a blush. She wonders if the small blush on the others face is her hopeful imagination or if it really is real.
"We will make it through this." L promises to the female who nods her head to this.
Somehow everything about this has soothed all of her worries about the situation that they have found themselves in. She wants this moment to never end and a little shyly she turns her hand to hold his hand back. She feels her face light up a little more in a blush when he lets her and doesn't pull away. She looks down to their hands as she can't believe that this actually happening. She is actually holding hands with her idol.
The two are quiet for a few moments as though both of them are enjoying this little moment together.
As their quiet moments come to an end L is the first to break the silence.
"We will slowly back off of him. I'll make sure that he won't get suspicious about it. It'll help that he won't remember that he is actually Kira. We'll still meet up here and there though we both should be careful. Even without his memories he will remember what happens during the time he doesn't have them. You let me know when he regains his memories of being Kira. We will move forward from there when that happens. For now follow his instructions."
Misa nods her head in agreement to this.
The two spend a little time together in the back of the car before Misa pulls away knowing that they can't be together for too long right now.
"I guess I'll see you next time." Misa speaks calmly though she is regretting having to leave L for the time being. She so wants to stay at his side and be able to cuddle close to him. She tells herself in her head that maybe next time she'll get the chance to press close to him.
"Yes you will." L seems to promise to her as he lets her go. He watches her leave the car and their eyes meet for a final time this time before the car door is closed. He turns away as Misa walks off. He places the hand that she was holding to his chest. He is usually in great control over his emotions however he can feel his heart pounding in his chest. He can't stop it. His blush deepens as he imagines her pressing against him even if it is in search of comfort. He wonders to himself if next time they'll have that moment. He lowers his hand and turns to Watari who turns back to him. "Let us go." He tells the old man who nods his head then begins driving off. He glances out the window letting his mind wander though it keeps going back to the moment he had shared with the beautiful Misa.
Light pats the dirt of where he has buried the Death note. He stands up looking it over. He knows that no one will find it here which is why he picked it. He turns to look to Ryuk as the Shinigami towers over him by floating there. "Okay Ryuk. I am ready to give up ownership of the Death note."
"Well okay then Light." Ryuk agrees to this and nods his head. "I guess we'll see each other the next time you have the Death note in your possession."
Light can't help but smile as if saying see you later to a good friend. "Indeed we will." He agrees then closes his eyes. He shivers as he feels the memories of being Kira, using the Death note, slip away from him. He opens his eyes once it is done and can no longer see Ryuk. He glances around himself. "What am I doing here?" He then remembers being recruited by L to help with the Kira case though some memories seem to be missing. "The others might be wondering where I went." He starts to dash in a direction that he instinctively feels is where he knows he needs to get to.
Unaware of the Shinigami watching him as he leaves.
Things have been going okay as the group continues to look for the two Kira's unaware of the secret information that L is hiding from them. Though progress has been a bit slow lately.
On the other hand Misa has been continuing Kira's work as she awaits the time that she has to get Light to remember being Kira. She is currently at a photoshoot and puts her thoughts into her work. She poses first by leaning forward bending in half with one hand on her leg her other with her pointer finger on her bottom lip. She then changes poses when the picture is taken, this time she stands straight and moves one arm behind her head her side facing the camera adding a kissy face.
"The camera loves you!" The photographer taking her pictures tells her as she changes poses once more. He keeps snapping pictures with each change of pose from her. After a bit he lowers the camera that has a strap around his neck. He checks his watch as Misa stands normally since the camera isn't snapping pictures now. "Break time." He announces causing Misa to sigh happily.
"Finally." Misa says that under her breath so the others don't hear her do so. She heads to the trailer that they are letting her use as her own. She sits down on the stool beside the small table that is inside of the trailer. She opens a case file that she had brought with her to do during breaks, when she doesn't need to get an outfit change or get her makeup changed. She looks it over though she can't help thinking about the rather adorable raven haired male that seems to have stolen her heart. She glances to the hand holding open the case file remembering the warmth of his own hand on hers. She blushes then closes her eyes shaking her head. She needs to focus. She doesn't have forever to work on this case during the half an hour to an hour breaks. She opens her eyes turning back to the case file. She flips to the first file of a family member of the murder victim. She finds an older man who could be a grandfather though he is the father of the victim.
Though something about him seems wrong. He looks like he has a permanent scowl on his face. His eyes look dark and deep as though no emotion truly shines in them.
Misa looks to where this man said he was during the time of the murder that took place inside of his own home. Though she sees a note that none of the family can confirm this because they were elsewhere together. She wonders why the dad didn't go with the rest of his family to the mall, instead going to a small town just outside of the city, while the murder victim was home alone opting to stay behind. He eyes narrow as she feels like he is hiding more from everyone. She goes through the papers until she reaches the page with the pictures of the car the father was driving. She takes notice that the car looks rather clean. She doesn't see any bugs, dirt or grass on it. She narrows her eyes as it truly is suspicious. She goes to the interrogation page on the dad. She reads every line as he tells the story of him heading to the small town for a bit. She then notices that he mentions that he decided to clean his car when he got home because he didn't see the family van. "Or were you trying to cover up the reason that your car was so clean?" She questions to herself. She notices that the police did interrogate him further though had to let him go as so far they had no evidence that he did anything wrong. She goes to the pictures of the crime scene as well as notes. She sees that the murder weapon, a kitchen knife left in the victims chest, happened to have no finger prints.
So the killer either cleaned it or wore gloves.
She then notices something else.
The police didn't find any unknown fingerprints anywhere in the home.
Misa texts a good friend of hers hoping that the private investigator can follow the father as she cashes in the favour that he owes her. She asks that it not be made obvious that he is doing so. She gets a confirmation text and closes the file for now. She knows that her friend is much better at following someone than the police ever could be. She is sure that this friend of hers will be able to get information that the police might have missed, because he probably was cautious then.
Though now the father probably thinks that he is in the clear.
A knock comes to the door causing Misa to turn to it.
"Misa? It is time to get ready for the next shoot." A voice comes through from the other side of the door.
"Coming!" Misa calls back heading out of the trailer leaving the case file sitting where she has left it.
