Alex and Brennan spent their day decorating Alex's bedroom and awaiting for Booth to come over for dinner. Brennan couldn't wait to tell Booth the news. Alex was in her room, she took out a book bag that she had hidden under her bed. It was a bag she didn't want the light of day to see. She closed her door and began to unzip the bag, pictures of her biological family began to emerge. Old toys and trinkets also began to appear. Alex held the picture of her biological mother out, "I hope you aren't mad at me in heaven, but I truly think I was meant to be here with Dr. Temperance Brennan. You weren't a bad mother but if i'm being honest, you weren't really there either. So I don't have all the data to come to a conclusion." she said. Brennan had thought it was too quiet in their home. She made her way over to Alex's bedroom, the door was closed. "Alex, are you okay?" Brennan said by the child's door. Alex was shuffling her things into her backpack, "Yes, I'm fine." she yelled. She took her bag away and opened the door. "Are you sure?" Brennan asked while raising her eyebrow. Her playful look made Alex chuckle, "Yes, I am. I was looking at some old pictures." she said. Her smile an immediate frown, she knelt down to get her bag once more. "I'm not sure if my biological mother can hear me. But, I wanted to talk to her?" she said confused by her own statement. She pulled out her pictures. Alex was alone in a few as a baby and in the others she was with her parents. Alex handed them to her mom. Brennan took the pictures in her hand and smiled. "You are so cute. As a baby and now." she said.
"I told her I was hoping she isn't mad at me, wherever she is, I told her that I was meant to be with you." Alex said. Brennan smiled sadly. She knew the pain about not having her mother around anymore. "Alex, what you're feeling is very normal. I personally, don't believe in the afterlife, but lately I'm not quite sure what it is I believe anymore. I didn't believe in faith, but now that I have you, I do. As scientists, we focus on the facts and the evidence. But, I've been taught that some things can't be analyzed. Like love." Brennan said proudly. Their moment was interrupted by the knock on the door. Brennan kissed Alex's forehead. "Booth is here! If you'd like to continue to talk about this, just let me know, okay?" Brennan said and Alex nodded and continued to put her things away. She felt relief that she didn't have to hide anything about her past.
Alex walked up to the kitchen and saw her mom and Booth sharing a kiss. She chuckled loud enough to interrupt her kiss, "Hi Booth!" she said as she ran up to him, giving him a hug. Brennan put her hands to the mouth, she was excited, "We have news! Great news!" she blurted out!" Brennan grabbed a hold of Booth's hand and also Alex's. "The adoption papers were processed, approved, and we just have to set a court date for the adoption!" Alex jumped up and down. Booth picked up Alex and gave her the biggest hug while he gave Temperance a kiss on the forehead. "We should have a little gathering here! Afterwards, a celebration." Booth said as he put Alex down. Booth continued, "and we can even tell our friends about us.." as he put his arm over Brennan's shoulders. Brennan looked up to Booth, "I think that is a wonderful idea. What do you think Alex?" she asked her daughter. Alex's eyes were brimming over with tears, "I'd love that." she said. "Your aunts and uncles would love to be there!" she said. Alex looked at her confused and Booth could tell, "You aunts Cam, Ange and Uncle's Sweets, Hodgins, Wendell," he said, listing off their close friends, while caressing Alex's cheek. Alex smiled and nodded. She knew what he meant. She knew who her family was now. "This means Parker is gonna have to come over soon. He's been wanting to see you again, Bones and wanting to meet you, mini Bones." Booth said. "I would love to meet him too!" Alex said. After their dinner, Alex helped her mother and Booth clean up but soon asked if she could go to bed. The excitement of her day had caught up with her and all Alex wanted was her bed. Brennan was watching Booth dance around the kitchen while drying and putting the dishes away. She smiled, bit her bottom lip, and walked up to Booth from behind and kissed the back of his neck. Booth groaned and turned around to face his girlfriend. Their foreheads touched, both of their arms intertwined around each other's torsos, "It's always been you, Booth, Always." Brennan whispered. She continued, "My life began to change when you entered my life and then when Alex appeared, I finally began to understand the way you see the world. The way you love." Temperance took a breath and Booth continued to listen, intently. Instead of words coming out of her mouth she took one tiny step forward and placed her lips on Booth's. The kiss began tenderly and soon passion ensued. Brennan moved their kiss towards the wall and they both could feel their desires brewing. Booth stopped the kiss, for a moment, "Bones, I don't want to continue if you're not comfortable, if you're not sure…" Her hand moved to his chest and her other hand held his face closely to hers, "Booth, I'm sure. I want to make love….I...I love you." she said. Booth's eyes went wide and he flashed his 'Boothy' smile at her. "You have no idea how long I've waited for you to hear that." He said as he now held her face, "I love you, Bones." He continued the kiss and the couple slowly and quietly made their way to Brennan's room. She made sure to lock her door and the couple continued to relish each other's love.
