The next day the tiny family was in office. Alex was in deep thought once more. She was deciding whether or not she would fully discuss the sexual abuse she experienced. She knew the words would have a rough time finding their way out. She knew she would cry and she knew she didn't want her mother or Booth in the room. Alex felt her mother's hands on her shoulders and she looked up to see Dr. Sweets staring right at her, "Alex?" He said. Alex smiled apologetically, "I'm sorry. Yes?" She said, Sweets smiled, "It's alright. You might be wondering what you're doing here. I just want you to know this is a safe space." He said. Alex felt like she could trust Sweets already. He looked young, sweet, and the fact that Booth seems to like him too made Alex feel much better. He had referred to Sweets as her uncle before, "Booth mentioned you before, he said you were my uncle Sweets. You weren't at my post adoption party though.." Alex said. Sweets looked up at Booth. He was touched that he mentioned him as an 'Uncle'. Sweets chuckled, "Yes, I'm your Uncle Sweets. I apologize for that. I really wanted to go but I had an emergency session here at the FBI." Sweets said. "Booth and my mom say that you help them… so you're going to help me too?" Alex asks. Sweet sits back on his chair, "That's what I would like to do. Alexandra, why aren't you sleeping? Your mom says you've been having nightmares." he says awaiting a response from Alex. Alex takes a look at Booth and her mom. "I'm sorry, but am I able to discuss this with you alone? I just...don't.." Alex continued as she looked at the floor. Brennan looked hurt and Booth took her hand and squeezed it. Sweets wasn't expecting Alex to dismiss her mother so easily. Alex began to speak once more, "It's not that I don't love you guys. It's just, when you hear what happened, I know you won't be able to look at me the same." she said with the shame appearing on her face. Brennan got up and kissed Alex on the forehead, "I respect your wishes, but nothing will ever make me look at you differently. We will go. I love you." she said. Sweets was still very surprised at Dr. Brennan's maternal displays of affections. Booth also got up and gave Alex a kiss on the head, "You got this Princess." and walked away along with his girlfriend.

As soon as the door closed, Alex turned to look at Sweets and she took a deep breath. It was shaky. "My nightmares are always the same . I'm back in that house, the room is black, vantablack." she begins, "Vantablack?" he asks the young girl. Alex plays with her fingers, "Yes, it's the world's darkest color. It absorbs 99.96% of light. It was created in the UK." she answers and Sweets nods accepting the girl's answer. "It's always so dark but when he opens the door the sliver of light is so bright. Almost blinding and by this point my heart is racing, and he enters the door. His eyes are red and then flashes of him...touch-in-g m-e." Sweets sees the young girl close her eyes as the young girl answers. "I haven't spoken much about what he's done to me because I think it's very clear as to what happened. I just want to forget it. Please help me forget Uncle Sweets." she says with a tear coming down her face. Meanwhile Brennan and Booth are sitting in his office. Brennan is sitting down while Booth is rubbing her shoulders. "It's going to be just fine, Bones. At least she wasn't shy." Booth attempted to calm her nerves. She nodded and stood up and hugged him tight, "I don't know how I would have done this without you." she said. Booth just held her, "I'll always be here." he replied. Brennan looked into his eyes and kissed him. "Please spend the night tonight." she says. Booth returned the kiss, "I'll go wherever you need me to be. We need to make sure Alex sleeps soundly." he responded. She smiled and kissed him again, "Yes, we do."

Alex's session had ended and it was clear that Alex had broken down into tears but she had felt better. She let it all go. Sweets had left Alex in his office to give her time to collect herself. He walked over to Booth's office and Brennan immediately saw him and stood up, "How did it go? Did she talk to you?" she asked. Sweets smiled but this was a sad smile. "She did, Alex, she has endured trauma that is indescribable. I applaud her. She spoke with courage and while she did cry she went through with it. She asked me to help her. So that's what I'm going to do. With your permission Dr. Brennan, of course." he said to her. Brennan looked at her friend and hugged him which Sweets was incredibly surprised by. He was stunned. "Yes, yes you have my permission. Will you be meeting with her now? Regularly?" she asked quickly. Sweets was still recovering from the hug he had received. "Ye-s and yes. But, obviously with Alex as my patient she now has patient rights. She has informed me that one day she will disclose her dreams to you. When she's ready." he said. Brennan nodded, "of course. Can I go see her?" she asked and Sweets nodded. She walked over to his office and Alex was on the couch with her knees up to her chest. Brennan sat beside her and placed her hand on her shoulders. Alex looked up, her eyes were red, a little swollen. "I hope you aren't mad at me mommy," Alex whispered. Brennan kissed her forehead, "No I'm not mad honey. Not even upset. It's okay. I'm so proud of you." she smiled and Alex untucked her knees and hugged her mother tight. "Ready to go home?" Brennan asks and Alex nodded. Alex walked up to Sweets, "See you next week?" she asks. Her tiny voice barely breaks the sound barrier. But, Sweets heard her just fine. "Sure thing, lex." he said. Alex smiled as she was beginning to like all the nicknames she was acquiring. Booth placed his hands on Sweets shoulders, "Thanks, Sweets. Really." he said and Sweets smiled. He knew he didn't have to say anything to Booth.

Alex held onto her mothers hand as they walked up to their apartment. Booth had to go pick up Parker for their weekend together. Brennan opened the door and allowed Alex to go in first. Alex took a seat on the couch and pulled a blanket over herself. She laid her head onto the pillow and Brennan just watched her. Alex looked at her mother and smiled softly, "Mom, can we watch a movie? How about a Western one? I know they're your favorite." Brennan smiled and sat down next to Alex. "I'll watch whatever you pick, honey. You are so brave. Eres unica." she smoothed Alex's hair. Alex sat up and perked up because she heard her first language being spoken at home. Her lip quivered and she allowed a few tears to fall from her eyes, "Gracias, mommy. Te quiero mucho." she sighed and hugged her mom tightly. Brennan knew there was a part of Alex that missed her culture and some of her traditions. She knew she had to instill some of her old life into this one. She made a mental note to speak to Dr. Fonseca, the head of the Aztec department at the Jeffersonian. Mother and daughter snuggled up on the couch and watched a John Wayne movie. Just like Brennan did with her father.
