"I don't know what's going on," Cassidy put her hands in the air in mock surrender. "I was told to pick Aaron up and bring him home. That's it."

"He is my son. You aren't taking him."

"Jack, it isn't your choice. I'm sorry. I don't want to fight and I don't want to be in the middle. His mother wants him taken home; end of story."

"His mother can come here and pick him up when she's ready to talk about all of this!"

"Jack, if you and Kate are going to talk things out, you need to keep the baby out of it. He's innocent in all this and doesn't need to see either of you fighting. Especially over him." Cassidy sighed in frustration. She had hoped to avoid Jack. She didn't know what the fight was about or what would happen, all she knew was Kate asked for a favor and she owed her that much.

Jack thought for a moment, letting her words sink in. She was right, the fight should be away from Aaron. "Can Kate just agree to have dinner with me? We can talk about everything that happened.

"We both know that's impossible."

"What if I just come to the house for dinner? She doesn't even have to cook! I'll order pizza and we'll eat dinner as a family.

"Jack, be reasonable. There's no way it's going to happen that fast."

"I'm not waiting until tomorrow or the next day. I need to talk to her now. I'm going over there, Cassidy."

"What good would it do? You know she's not there!"

Jack stopped cold. "What did you just say?"

"She hasn't even given me details on if she was able to catch a flight or when."

"Kate left the hotel room before I did," Jack said, trying to sound calm but failing. "I couldn't get a flight right away. She's been home for a day or two. She probably feels uncomfortable around my mom right now. Will you just ask her?"

"Jack, Kate is still in Hawaii."

"That can't be…" he shook his head. "Her stuff was gone when I came out of the shower…"

"And she went to a hotel across the street, calmed down and ran back to your room only to find housekeeping cleaning your empty room. You left her in Hawaii."

"I have to get to her. I have to fly to Hawaii—"

"And if she's already on a plane? You can't go to her if you don't know where she is."

"She's going to think I abandoned her."

"Didn't you?" Cassidy asked.

"How will I—"

"I have no idea, Jack. I don't know how you can ever fix this," Cassidy admitted. She watched as Jack's face fell and she knew he was fighting back tears. "Why doesn't Aaron stay here? I'll say you wouldn't let me and then she'll come back here for her son."
