Booth and Brennan were having wine and were snuggled up on the couch watching a movie. Alex was tucked in bed sleeping soundly. "I am deeply upset that a 10-year-old girl told Alex I was not her real mother. It's infuriating." Brennan said as she looked into Booth's eyes. Booth rubbed his eyes, "I know, I couldn't believe that she would say that to her. I'm sure Alex did nothing to provoke her." Booth said. Brennan sighed, "No, she was reading. Reading. Courtney's mother seemed like she couldn't be bothered. She didn't even say hi to her child. It's heart crushing." she said. Booth kissed Brennan's forehead and she returned a kiss to his lips.

"You are a very good role model for her." Brennan whispered, "she listens to you. She loves you. I love you." she said, staring into his eyes. Booth placed their wine glasses on the table next to them, "Let me show you how much I love you, Temperance." he said as he picked her up and took her to the bedroom. She giggled loudly, "shhh, Alex is sleeping Bones." Booth whispered as she chuckled.

The next morning Alex had awoken to get ready for school. She walked over to the kitchen and made herself a bowl of cereal and turned on some cartoons. She couldn't stop thinking about her incident with Courtney, 'Alexandra Brennan,' 'Alexandra Brennan,' she kept repeating to herself. Alex knew her mom is her real mom, but she couldn't shake the sadness she felt. The reality of knowing that the blood flowing through her veins was not the same as her mothers. She attempted to take another bite of her cereal but could not stomach it. Alex was raised to never waste food. So, she made herself eat it. Which was not a good idea, she began to gag and ran to the bathroom to throw up. The sounds of her retching woke up Booth. He quickly scurried to the bathroom to check on his little girl. "Alex, what's wrong princess?" he asked as he rubbed her back. Alex took the cup of water Booth handed her and rinsed out her mouth. "I don't feel good. I want mom." she said with her lip quivering. Booth picked her up and walked into the bedroom, "Bones, we got a sick little girl here." he said as he placed Alex down on the bed. Bones turned around with her eyes half shut, "huh?" she mumbled. "I threw up mommy," Alex whispered. Brennan immediately opened her eyes and sat up, "Oh, honey. It's okay." Brennan said as she took Alex into her arms. 'She has some cold sweats, Bones. She may be coming down with something." Booth said as he sat down on the bed. Brennan felt Alex's forehead.

"I think we should stay home today. What do you think?" she asked, giving Alex a small smile. Alex nodded, "I'd like that." she said while her lip was still quivering. Brennan frowned with sympathy; she grabbed her cell phone to call Cam. She was not coming into the lab today. "Booth and I are going to the kitchen to make breakfast. You can stay in my bed. Try to rest, sweetheart." Brennan said as she tucked in Alex and kissed her forehead. Booth handed Brennan her robe and kissed Alex's forehead as well. "Close your eyes princess. You'll feel better soon." he said. Alex smiled and closed her eyes. The couple walked into the kitchen and Brennan saw the empty cereal bowl in the sink. "I think she ate already, Booth." she said as she pointed to the bowl in the sink. Booth raised his eyebrow and continued to take out the eggs out of the fridge. "Maybe she has a stomach bug?" he said. Brennan held two cups of coffee and handed one to Booth. "Maybe. Or she could still be thinking about her altercation with Courtney." she said as she sat down. "Bones, you make it sound like she got into a brawl." Booth said, chuckling as he flipped the egg in the pan. Brennan spat some of her coffee out and laughed. "It's funny because she's 10 years old. I'm sure she'd win either way." she replied in between chuckles. Booth loved hearing his partner laugh, he placed the eggs on their plates, along with their toast. "Here you go," he said, and Brennan looked up, "Thank you, Chef." she said with a wink. She puckered her lips, asking for a kiss, and Booth happily obliged. They sat next to each other eating and laughing. "If we have a case, will you call me?" Brennan asked. Booth grinned, "Even if we don't get a case, I will call you. Got to make sure the princess and the queen are alright." he said with a wink. Brennan smiled and placed her head on his shoulder. "I love you." she said, and Booth kissed her forehead and replied, "I love you too, Temperance."

Booth had left to go to work, and Brennan began to do laundry as Alex was sound asleep on her bed. She got dressed and sat next to Alex on the bed with her laptop propped up on a pillow. She decided to catch up on emails, grades, and her book. Alex began to stir in her sleep, Brennan heard her mumble, "Alex Brennan,' in her sleep. Brennan placed her laptop on her nightstand and leaned in. She kissed Alex's head and wrapped herself around Alex. "It's okay, I'm here Alex. It's mom." she whispered. Alex turned around to face Brennan, still in a deep sleep, she whispered, "I wish I came from you," and continued to sleep. Brennan sighed and understood what Alex meant. Brennan hugged her tighter and sighed, "Oh, Alex." she whispered.
