Kate rolled her eyes when Jack opened the door for her. She had invited Jack at the last minute, hoping he was busy. Instead, he dropped everything to spend the day at the pool with Kate and Aaron.

As Kate slid into the car, Jack let his hand press against the small of her back. She felt the heat of his touch and the electricity between them. Still, she pretended she felt nothing, which had been getting harder and harder to do.

"I spy with my little eye…" Aaron began "something green!" He clapped his hands in excitement. Jack and Kate shared one of those glances; this was Aaron's favorite game and was played the entirety of car rides unless he fell asleep.

"Is it the grass?" Kate guessed.

"No!"

"Is it your mom's beautiful green eyes?" Jack gave Kate an overly charming glance. She couldn't help but smile; he was trying so hard.

"It's that leaf."

"What leaf?" Kate asked, turning her to the backseat to look.

"We drive past it already."

"We drove past it," Jack corrected, glancing to Aaron in the rear view mirror. "But I can't believe we missed it"

At the pool, Jack watched as every man (and teenage boy) watched the way Kate walked to their spot and set everything up. She had a white sundress and white sunglasses on top of her head, holding her curls back. The way she doted on Aaron only added to her appeal. Even with things being rocky, Jack felt a sense of pride. She was with him. Everyone wanted her and he had her.

Kate took her attention off Aaron, watching Jack as he peeled his shirt off, exposing his bare chest. His swimming trunks were loose enough to show the muscles that reminded her of an arrow leading directly to his piece. His abs were chiseled and his bulging biceps had her trying not to drool.

"You okay, Kate?" Jack smirked mischievously. "You look a little flushed…"

"It's 90 degrees out here. I guess I would be," she laughed. "But, that reminds me…" she crossed her arms across her chest, slowly removing her sundress. She was left with only a hunter green bikini that matched her eyes. He stared helplessly at the thin strings that formed small bows on her back and hips. "What's wrong? You look like you've seen a ghost…" To add insult to injury, she grabbed the sunscreen and after covering Aaron in it, she rubbed it into her skin. She craned her neck, tempting Jack as she ran her hand over her chest, massaging the sunscreen in. "Think you could get my back for me?" She said softly.

"I'll do you if you do me." He wagged his eyebrows at the innuendo, making Kate roll her eyes even more. He made sure to massage her back, running his fingers down her spine, noticing the way her breathing changed as she relaxed under his touch. "I want you," he whispered, his lips against her neck. The sensation left the hairs on the back of her neck stand up.

"Mommy, can we go now?" Aaron groaned, still playing with his toys, oblivious to the sexual tension.

"Let me put sunscreen on your father," she said softly. "Maybe he'll do the same for you and we can get in the water…"

"Hey, wanna see something funny?" Jack asked Aaron. When Aaron nodded enthusiastically, Jack whispered "wait right here."

He grabbed Kate tightly against him and threw them both in the pool.

"Jack!" Kate yelled midair. When he didn't let go under the water he felt her legs naturally wrap around him the way they always had when they'd spent time alone together in the pool. When they came up, he locked eyes with her and thought for a moment they were going to kiss. He went into auto pilot, tilting his head and cupping her face. She leaned in slowly and twisted his nipple before splashing him and swimming away.

Jack watched her with Aaron in the shallow end, trying to teach him to swim and failing miserably.

"Can I?" Jack asked once he swam over.

"Please? I can't do this," she said softly. He hated that look of defeat she got; he hated the way she always second guessed her parenting skills. It was the one thing he'd change about her. That and the fact that she wasn't his right now. He had wanted her since their first encounter. He lusted after her. He was intrigued and curious. He was unable to look away from that face. She had singlehandedly kept him sane on the island. She had kept him alive; he had lead the entire group but his every move was based on a promise he'd made himself to keep her alive.

"It's supposed to be done as a family," he whispered. "You don't have to do it all alone." She nodded but said nothing.

By the end of the day, Aaron was able to be dunked underwater and doggy paddle. Kate felt herself getting weak in the knees. Jack with Aaron had always been her weakness. She had been abandoned by an amazing father only to be replaced by an abusive one. Giving Aaron a life that was better than she dreamed for as a child was her top priority. Plus, it didn't hurt that he was handsome and chiseled and his touch was addicting. It had taken all she had to refuse his advances for a kiss; she didn't know how much more she could take but she wasn't going to give in. Not this time. Despite her stubbornness, she knew that she still loved Jack and wanted him back, but leaving her in Hawaii wasn't something she could just forgive.

Could she?
