"You must be freezing," Kate whispered once they were in his truck. "You're shaking…" she reached to the backseat, grabbing a heavy thermal blanket. She leaned against him, her back against his chest as they curled up under the blanket while the car warmed up. She guided his hands under her shirt, letting her warmth heat his hands. She let out a small gasp when she felt him harden against her.
"I'm sorry… you're beautiful and—" he stammered. He stopped abruptly when he felt her hands against him, releasing him. She kept her back to him as she lead him inside her. She moved slowly, letting him hold her as she took control. She could feel the vibrations on his chest from his soft moaning, a sensation that she found satisfying. He cupped her face and kissed her as they both hit their peaks. After, neither spoke or moved for a few moments.
They drove home in silence, Kate still wrapped in the crook of his arm with the blanket over. She considered asking him if it bothered him to drive with his arm around her but they'd done it before. And more than that, she wasn't ready to leave his grip.
Jack pulled up in Kate's driveway and helped her slide out of the drivers seat once he was out. He walked her to the door, focusing his attention on every detail of the exterior of her home. The flowers they'd planted still bloomed each spring. The stepping stones up the walkway that he had positioned. She slipped her hand into his once the door was unlocked and lead him inside.
"I'm sorry," Kate finally whispered.
"It was warmth and the heat of the moment…"
"I'm not apologizing for having sex with you," she narrowed her gaze suspiciously. "Should I?" She started to worry it hadn't been what he wanted. When Jack shook his head no she continued. "I overreacted about Hawaii. It was a miscommunication and you had every right to assume I left. That's all I do," she realized glumly.
"You didn't leave. You stayed. For me," he reminded her. "You don't owe me any apologies. For anything." Suddenly, Jack realized what it was that Kate was really saying. What Kate might not even know she should say. "I didn't trust that you would stay," he realized. "I underestimated how much I matter to you." He let out a loud sigh, "Kate—"
"Can we just stop apologizing to each other?" She asked with a nervous laugh. "I just want to get to the kissing part."
"I can do you one better!" He grabbed her so quickly she squealed and laughed in delight as he carried her towards the bedroom.
The end.
