FADE IN:
INT. CAVENDISH MANNER - LIBRARY - DAY
A long, brown haired girl, age 16, with blunt side-bangs and a side ponytail and wears a white t-shirts with brown shorts, sit in front of a desk with her head laying on an open book. She also has a long lock of hair on the left side of her face with crimson eyes and pale complexion. Her name is ATSUKO KAGARI, aka AKKO. She sits across a girl, age 16, with platinum blonde hair with side-swept bangs and tea-green highlights. She also has pale skin, light blue eyes and wears a black tank top with gray shorts. She is reading a book. Her name is DIANA CAVENDISH.
DIANA
Akko. Please sit up. You're ruining
the book even more.
Akko sits up.
AKKO
But I'm so~ bored. It's summer
vacation. We should be out at the
beach or stroll around town eating
ice cream or... doing something.
DIANA
We are doing something. We're studying.
(beat)
You do know that is why I agreed to
let you stay here over the break,
right?
AKKO
Of course... I just thought we
could do something together. That
all...
Diana closes her book.
DIANA
Tell you what... I have a copy of
professor Finlin's test. If you get
at least a B-, then we'll go the
beach or something.
An elderly woman with blue eyes and brown hair picked up on an impeller, walks in with a Package in hand. Her name is ANNA. She wears a loose black uniform with white buttons and a black belt.
ANNA
Miss Kagari, I have package came
for you.
Akko stands in examined as the chair falls over.
AKKO
A package! It must be from my
parents.
Akko runs over to Anna and takes the package from her.
AKKO (CONT'D)
Thank you Anna.
Akko walks to the table and sets the package down.
AKKO (CONT'D)
(quietly)
I can't believe I forgot about it.
(out loud)
Hey Anna. Is there internet
connection here?
DIANA
Akko. I can grantee that...
ANNA
There is.
Diana stands up and looks at Anna shocked. Akko begins to open the package. Diana walks to Anna.
DIANA
What? Anna are you serous?
ANNA
Yes. After your last visit, Daryl
had it installed in the manner.
Says that she will help the manner
in the modern way.
AKKO
(excited)
YATTA!
They turn to see Akko who looks like she is ready to burst in excitement. Anna turns to leave.
ANNA
I should go tend to the garden.
Anna walks out as Diana looks back at her. Diana sighs then walk back to Akko.
DIANA
Akko, what has you so excited?
Akko holds up a card in front of Diana's face. She steps back
in surprise.
AKKO
(excited)
Sword Art Online! It comes out
today!
Diana takes the card.
DIANA
Sword.. Art.. Online?
AKKO
It's a VR MMO. It's the first game
to used the Nerve Gear to it's
fullest.
(gasp)
You should play with me.
Diana hands Akko the card back. Akko takes the card.
DIANA
Absolutely not. You know I don't
fancy modern technology, Akko.
AKKO
Come on, Diana. You are literality
taken out of this world and into
another where you don't have to
worry about your problem.
(beat)
At least try it for one hour.
Please...
Diana see Akko with big puppy eyes. She blushes slightly and quickly turns away.
DIANA
(thinking)
Darn it Akko. Again with the eyes.
It hard to say no with those.
She turns to Akko and still see the puppy dog eyes on her.
DIANA (CONT'D)
(thinking)
Damn it.
(to Akko)
Okay... but for ONE hour.
Akko perks up.
AKKO
Yay.
She puts the card back in the box and grabs it.
AKKO (CONT'D)
Come on. Lets get you set up.
She jogs out of the library with the package in hand.
DIANA
Wait! I didn't say now...
Diana sighs as she follows.
DIANA (CONT'D)
(thinking)
That girl. First she hits me with
the puppy dog eyes and then she
goes off and sets up that thing.
Well, at least my life isn't boring
around her.
INT. CAVENDISH MANNER - DIANA'S BEDROOM - DAY
Diana sits on her bed with a NerveGear on her lap. She looks at Akko, who is sitting in front of her desk with two laptop on the desk. One with a Shiny Chariot theme with a NerveGear connected to it, and the other with a SAO theme with a cable connected to the NerverGear on Diana's lap. An MMO stream plays on the Chariot theme laptop.
STREAM
On today's MMO Stream, we'll be
covering the internationally famous
Sword Art Online, AKA SAO!
DIANA
Akko. Can you tell me what to
expect from this.
Akko stands and walks to Diana.
AKKO
It's one of the best places to
escape to. It's a world were you
fight monster with swords and
stuff. The beta so fun.
DIANA
Right... and they gave you this for
playing the beta?
AKKO
Kind of... The one I'm using is
from the beta. The one you have is
from when I pre-ordered it. I
wasn't confident that I was going
to get in the beta, but I did. And
I was the BEST player in the game.
DIANA
And they gave you that...
(points to the SAO theme
laptop)
For being the best.?
AKKO
Yup. They had an event, only for
the beta tester and I won first
place.
STREAM
...I wanted a copy, Only ten
thousand copies were sold in its
first printing. It sold out online
in seconds...
Akko looks at the laptop and sees the time reads 12:55.
AKKO
It's almost time. Put your
NerveGear on.
Diana puts her NerveGear on as Akko quickly put her's on. Diana lays on her back as Akko climbs on her bed lays next to Diana, on her back, with the wire going around Diana's head.
AKKO (CONT'D)
To dive in, first, you need to be
calm and relax your mind. One you
do that, just close your eyes and
say two words. After that, you will
automagically dive into the game.

(closes her eyes)

Diana stares at Akko as she dives in game. She sighs as she closes her eyes and relaxes.
DIANA
Here we go... Link Start!
INT. CHARACTER CREATOR - DAY
After signing in with the account Akko made for her. She found herself in a black void with a mirror and a customization menu. She fines a randomize button and press it. Her reflection shows a woman with greenish shade of teal for her eyes, with pink eyeshadow. She has short, lavander hair with a wavy hairstyle. She press the "complete" button and teleports out.
EXT. FLOOR 1 - TOWN OF BEGINNINGS - PLAZA - DAY
Diana teleports in the center of the town of beginnings in knee high sock with black skirt and shirt, with leather boots and breastplate, with a sword on her back. She looks around in amazement at what she see. Her eyes fall on a girl sitting on the edge of a fountain. The girl has short, red tone, hair that is parted to the middle with bangs framing the sides of her face and curving in, and red tone eyes. She wears knee high sock with black shorts and shirt, with leather boots and breastplate, with a sword on her back. Diana walks towards her.
DIANA
Excuse me... Are you Atskari?
The girl gets up.
AKKO
DIANA!
Akko hugs her tightly.
AKKO (CONT'D)
I'm glad you dived in with me. I
was worried that you left me here
by myself.
Akko releases her, looks at her and chuckle.
AKKO (CONT'D)
You look like professor Croix.
DIANA
And you weren't kidding when you
said you look like Chariot.
Akko takes Diana's hand and runs to the stands.
AKKO
Come on! Lets get you a weapon. The
weapons here are better then the
starting one.
EXT. FLOOR 1 - TOWN OF BEGINNINGS - WEAPON STAND - DAY
Akko and Diana stands in front of a weapon stand with Diana scrolling through the weapon menu and Akko going through her menus.
DIANA
They're so many to chose from. I
don't know which one to chose.
AKKO
It's more of a preference. Like me,
I did a little bit of kendo in
middle school, so I stuck with a
one handed sword.
DIANA
I see. Then I guess I should pick a
rapier. I took fencing classes,
with Andrew, growing up.
Diana picks the rapier and selects the confirm button. Her Col goes down to zero. She closes the menu.
WEAPONS NPC
Thank you for your purchase.
AKKO
Come on, Diana. Lets go.
Akko grabs her wrist and sprints down the street.
DIANA
Hold on. Were are we going? How do
I use my weapon?
AKKO
I'll tell you on the way. We're
gonna meet up with my friend from
the beta. He's in the fields right
now.
EXT. FLOOR 1 - TOWN OF BEGINNINGS - WEST FIELD - DAY
Diana and Akko walks through the field. Diana has a rapier on her hip and Akko as a one handed sword on her back.
DIANA
Wow. This looks amazing.
AKKO
I know, right. I thought the same
thing.
Akko turns and spots a pirate looking man, with maroon strait long hair with a red bandanna, on the ground, holding his crotch. Above him is a man that looks like a fantasy anime protag with black short hair. Akko sprints to them with Diana following.
DIANA
Akko. Hold on...
AKKO
KIRITO-KUN!
The one standing turns to see Akko running towards them, with an arm waving and someone following her.
KIRITO
Atskari-chan.
Akko jumps on Kirito as her brace himself so to not fall over. She wrap her arm around him as Diana catches up to her.
KIRITO (CONT'D)
Whoa!
AKKO
It's been so long! How have you
been? How is Suguha-chan? Is she
still...
DIANA
Akko!
Akko lets go of Kirito and backs up. She giggles.
AKKO
Sorry.
KIRITO
It's fine. I'll answer all of that
later. Who's your friend, there.
Akko turns to Diana.
AKKO
Oh. This is my classmate... um...
What did you put as your username?
DIANA
Diana.
AKKO
(beat)
Really.
DIANA
This is my first time playing a
game. What else could I have used?
AKKO
I don't know... Anything but Diana.
KIRITO
I'm going to assume, based on both
of your interaction, that is your
real name...
DIANA
It is.
KIRITO
Ok. Just to let you know that is
kind of dangerous, using your real
name. Anyways, I'm Kirito.
(points to the other guy)
And this guy that followed me is...
The other guy shoves Kirito out of the way.
KLEIN
My name is Klein and I'm a twenty
two year old man, single, and I'm
looking for a girlfriend. Would any
of you young lady...
DIANA
(annoyed)
Sod off!
Klein recoils back as both Kirito and Akko look at Diana in surprise.
DIANA (CONT'D)
(annoyed)
I have to deal with people like
that at every event that I'm
suppose to attend and I will NOT
deal with people like you, here.
Silent.
Klein bows to Diana.
KLEIN
I'm... I'm sorry. I shouldn't have
done that.
Silent.
AKKO
So~ Klein. What were you doing on
the ground, holding your crotch.
KLEIN
Oh... Kirito was telling how to
play the game and one of those...
(points to a boar)
Hit me in the crotch.
KIRITO
You do know you can't actual feel it,
right?
DIANA
Really? That's amazing.
KIRITO
Anyway. Like I told you, you need
to do the initial motion input to
activate the sword skills.
AKKO
(quietly, to diana)
Pay attention.
Kirito picks up a rock, pulls back to throw it and pauses.
KIRITO
The system will ensure that
the technique connects. When you
pauses, you will feel the skill
begin to activate. After that, let
it explode. Like this.
The rock glows blue then he throws it. It hits a boar. The boar charges at him, but Kirito grabs it tusk to stop it.
KIRITO (CONT'D)
Try it Klein.
Klein draws his sword and pulls back, then pause. Kirito kicks the boar onto its back and jumps out of the way. Klein's sword glows blue and Klein charges at the boar as it got up. Klein slashes the boar and it explode in blue glass particle.
KIRITO (CONT'D)
Congrats, however, that boar's
about as weak as a slime in any
other game.
KLEIN
What? Really? I thought it was a
mid-level boss or something.
AKKO
Sorry Klein. That's how it is.
KLEIN
Aw man! Way to kill my joy, you two.
AKKO
Come on, Diana. You try it.
DIANA
Oh... Ok.
Diana steps up and picks up a rock. She pulls back to throw it and pauses. The rock glows blue then she throws it. It hits a boar. The boar charges as Diana draws her rapier and pulls back and pauses. The rapier begins to glow and she lets the charge go. She charges at the boar and kills it. It explode in blue glass particle.
AKKO
Way-a-go Diana.
KIRITO
Ya, That was amazing.
EXT. FLOOR 1 - TOWN OF BEGINNINGS - WEST FIELD - EVENING
Diana and Akko sit at the edge of a cliff with both Kirito and Klein standing behind them.
DIANA
This is amazing.
KLEIN
I agree. A view like can only be
from a full drive game like this...
I mean, I'm guessing. This is my
first full dive, after all.
KIRITO
Then this is your first time
playing a game with NerveGear?
KLEIN
Ya. I rushed out and bought the
hardware to play SAO. I was really
lucky to get one of the ten
thousand copies. But both you and
Atskari were luckier to get into
the beta.
KIRITO
Actually, Akko is the luck one. She
got both the pre-order AND the
beta.
KLEIN
(surprise)
Wha... Really!? That's amazing. I
heard the pre-order didn't make it
past the first hour. It was at
midnight too.
DIANA
Really?
(to akko)
What were you doing up at midnight,
Akko?
AKKO
(sheepish)
I jumped out of a tree trying to
fly on a broom. I woke up soar and
I couldn't go back to sleep, so I
check the website and saw a count
down for the pre-order. I was able
to get through the overloaded
server and get pre-order.
DIANA
You were trying to fly like
Chariot, weren't you?
AKKO
Of course. This was before I
applied to Luna Nova.
KIRITO
And you got accepted. That's even
more luck.
AKKO
Yup. The school the Chariot both
went and is teaching at. Yes
please.
KIRITO
She teaches their?
AKKO
Yup. She's even my mentor.
KLEIN
Hold on... Chariot... Like shiny
Chariot?
AKKO
Yup. I look up to her as my idol
and mentor.
KLEIN
That's crazy. I have a cousin that
a big Chariot fan.
AKKO

KLEIN

Anyway, I'm a log out for now. I
got a teriyaki mayo pizza with
ginger ale on the side with my name
on it. I'll log back in in a hour.
KIRITO

I'm meeting up with some friends.

AKKO
Sure. We'll all be glad too meet
them.
KIRITO

AKKO
(to Kirito)
You're going! No excuses!
KLEIN
Wow! Okay. I'm gonna before your
girlfriend rips your head off.
AKKO
(embarrass)
I'm not his girlfriend!
KIRITO
(embarrass)

KLEIN

Klein walks way. Diana looks at Klein, annoyed, as he opens his menu.
KIRITO
(to Akko)
Why did you drag me into it.
AKKO
He's your friend. You should meet

KLEIN (O.S.)
Hey guys! Their's no logout button.
Akko and Kirito looks at Klein confused as he walks back to them. Diana opens up her menu.
KIRITO
It's in your settings.
KLEIN
Ya, It's not there.
DIANA
He's right. It's missing.
Akko and Kirito opens their menu and the setting tab. They fine that the log off button is gone.
KIRITO
That's odd.
AKKO
Maybe it's a bug.
KLEIN
I hope so. I spent over two
thousand yen on that meal...
My money... My pizza... I don't
want it to go to waste!
KIRITO
Calm down. Try calling the admin.
AKKO
We've tried. We're not getting a
response.
DIANA
Isn't there an emergency logout?
KIRITO
No. There wasn't one in the manual
either.
AKKO
Man... This will cause a serious
problem for the game in the future.
KIRITO
Well, they could just shut down the
server and log everyone out.
A BELL CHIME is heard and everyone is teleported.

The Plaza is filled with players being teleported in. Diana, Akko, Kirito, and Klein are teleported together.

Wha... What happened.
KIRITO
A force teleport. But why.
KLEIN
Maybe its to address the missing
logout button.
AKKO
Ether that or its a welcome
ceremony.
DIANA
If that's the case, then it a
messed up ceremony.
RANDOM PLAYER
Look! Up there!
Everyone looks up to see the sky become overrun with red. Blood like liquid seeps through the sky and stops half way to the ground. I figure is form from the liquid and become a hooded figure.
KAYABA
Players. Welcome, to my world. I am
the sole person who can control
this world. I am the "God" of this
world. I... am Kayaba Akihiko.
(beat)
Some of you have already noticed
that the logout button is missing.
That was not an oversight.
(beat)
I repeat. It was not an oversight,
but an intention. No one on the
inside nor the outside can remove
you from Sword Art Online. If one

Everyone opens their menu and sees a mirror. It materialize in their hand. A blue light engulf players. After the light fades, the players looks different.
DIANA
Akko?
Akko turns to Diana, who looks like what they did in the real
world.
AKKO
Diana?
Akko looks back in the mirror and see what she looked like in
the real world.
KIRITO
Who are you?
KLEIN
Who are you?
Akko turns to see a 14 year old boy with a girlish face with black short hair and dark grey eyes. In front of his is a 22 year old man with spiked brownish hair and eyes with a slight beard on his cheeks and chin.
AKKO
Kirito?
Kirito and Klein turns to Akko
KIRITO
Akko?
KLEIN
Wait... YOU'RE Akko... Then...
(turns to kirito)
You're Kirito...
(turns to Diana)
And you're Diana...
KIRITO
Then... You're Klein...
KAYABA
With that... I wish you luck.
The hooded figure turns back to liquid and seeps back into the sky. The red fade back to the sunset skybox.
Silent.
KIRITO
Akko. Grab Diana and lets go.
Kirito grabs Klein's wrist while Akko grabs Diana's hand.
KIRITO (CONT'D)
Let's go, Klein.
Akko and Kirito runs out of the plaza with Diana and Klein in toe as the plaza explodes with SCREAMS of terror.
EXT. FLOOR 1 - TOWN OF BEGINNINGS - ALLYWAY - EVENING
Akko stands with Diana in the ally with Kirito and Klein as Kirito tries to convince Klein to join him.
DIANA
(Scared and Angry)
You said it was safe to come here.
You said nothing bad was going to
happen. Look at where we are now,
Akko!
AKKO
I know... I'm sorry. I didn't know
he would do something like this.
DIANA
(anger)
YOU DON"T KNOW ANYTHING!
YOU DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT
WITCHCRAFT! YOU DON'T KNOW ANYTHING
ABOUT TRADITION! YOU DON'T EVEN
KNOW HAVE TO BE A FRIEND! YOU JUST
BROUGHT ME HERE FOR SELFISH REASON!
AKKO
Normally, I would yell back, but I
know that you are just scared. I am
too. But if you follow us, then we
can get the best stuff first. I
know this game, you can trust me...
And if you don't, then you can
trust Kirito.
Diana looks behind Akko and see Kirito looking at her with a worried expression and Klein running the corner. She looks back at Akko and see a concern look on her face. Diana sighs and nods her head. Both Akko and Kirito perks up, then Akko turns to Kirito.
KIRITO
Alright... Lets go.
EXT. FLOOR 1 - TOWN OF BEGINNINGS - WEST FIELD - EVENING
All three sprint down the field.
AKKO
(thoughts)
Don't worry Diana. I won't let you
down. I'll get us out of here. We
will go back to the real world live
our lives again. I'll make sure you
get out. I'll make sure you get to
be the head of the Cavendish
household. I'll make sure you get
to restore your family's name. I'll
make sure you live.
