VISION
In Edinburgh, they toured the castle. They walked up Arthur's Seat and looked over the city for a long time, not saying anything at all. They went on a tour of the underground, where guides with funny costumes talked about the plague, and Wanda crinkled her nose and clung to Vision's arm at every mention of rats. They spent an entire day in bed. They saw a camera obscura, which showed the whole city upside down. Mostly they saw each other, smiling in front of all of these strange backdrops.
On Calton Hill, Wanda ran her fingers along every monument. Sunset draped the world in the most astounding yellow, and every building in the city looked like it was made of gold. Wanda looked even more beautiful there than Vision had ever imagined.
Their world had been peaceful for the past two months. What remained of the Militia unceremoniously disbanded and was relegated to obscurity. Finally, they got to spend a full week together, interrupted only by a reoccurring twinge of pain in Vision's head. The mind stone was acting up, but it wasn't enough to bother him. Nothing could really bother him when he was with Wanda. He wanted to tell her as much, but hadn't found the right words.
Vision had been back to New Jersey several times, mostly to Westview. Wandering down a street on his most recent trip, he stumbled across a house for sale. It had a large lawn, impressive windows, a few extra bedrooms for guests, or kids. A place to grow old. He bought it.
He touched the property deed in his pocket as Wanda settled into bed at their hotel suite.
"You've spoken about finding a home," Vision said.
Wanda sipped at her tea and flipped through the pages of a book Vision had been reading. It was a love story.
"Home," Wanda said. "Home is anywhere I'm with you."
Vision left the deed folded in his pocket. He said, "I entirely agree." Really, he had been thinking about that little gazebo in Westview, and how last time he dreamed, he dreamed that they were there.
Still, there was time. They were in Edinburgh for another night. Then, there was the rest of the world to see. Vision sputtered into his human skin and threw open the curtain, just so he could see it the city in its golden afterglow. Behind him, Wanda chuckled at something she had read, and Vision knew he had it all: Wanda and the World.
