Dawn of the dead
Isa wasn't sure if she would ever see her friends again. With each floor they climbed, getting farther and farther away from the crowd of soldiers and doctors, she understood that the man who was dragging her to an isolated spot didn't want to take her to the lieutenant.
- W-where are you taking me? - She asked scared looking for a way to escape.
The man ignored her and, when he reached the fifth floor, crossed the corridor to the last door. When Isa opened it, she found herself in a spacious room containing a metal cabinet, a red sofa and a table full of papers with a lamp and a stone bust of a man. The little sign indicated that the room was probably the principal's, and after they walked through the door she was thrown to the floor. She used her arms, still tied, to keep herself from hitting her head, and then she understood. She could no longer hold back the tears as she realized what was about to happen.
- P-please… - She begged. The only thing she could do was beg.
The man just responded with a scary smile as he propped his gun against the wall near the door and took off his helmet. He kept his eyes focused on the girl as he slowly unbuttoned his pants.
- Let's have some fun.

As soon as the cigarette butt hit the ground, Carlos instinctively crushed it with his foot, not taking his eyes off the street in front of him. The noise was getting louder, so much so that Marcos stopped talking and also started looking for the source, probably the longest amount of time he had ever been quiet.
- Where is this coming from? - He asked breaking the silence.
- I don't know, but it looks like those things. Get ready to shoot.
Both soldiers were silent pointing their guns at the street, waiting for something, anything to appear. They didn't have to wait long. Carlos was relieved when he finally saw the source of the incessant sound, but only for a few seconds. The only walker he saw appear began to multiply as more and more appeared. Wide-eyed, he didn't think twice as he fired and told his partner to do the same.

After they have their blood collected, blood pressure measured and photo taken; the four were taken to a small room that used to be a warehouse still full of boxes and shelves where they were sitting.
- Please! PLEASE! - Kaique, desperate with what he witnessed, begged for his life. - I CANNOT BE INFECTED! I DON'T WANNA DIE!
- And do you think any of us do?! - Danilo yelled at the man. - Now shut up!
- But it's true, isn't it? We really are infected. - Sasha said still crying. - We can transform at any time then. What if-
- I don't think it works like that. - Amanda said. - If that were the case, we would have already become one of them, I think that only when we die the virus is "activated".
- So we just need not die? At the moment it's kind of difficult. - Danilo said showing his hands tied.
- I would appreciate it if you tried, at least until-
- YOUR BROTHER WON'T COME! - Sasha yelled, tired of the girl's insistence. - HE WON'T COME TO SAVE US! WE'RE GONNA DIE HERE!
- With that attitude, we will.
- YOU-
They were interrupted when the door was opened by three soldiers.
- Can you shut the fuck up?! Come on, get up.
- N-no, p-please… - Kaique begged once more as he was lifted by force.
Amanda stood up watching the man who was once her teacher and couldn't help but feel…pity. As much as he was an asshole, he was just scared. Amanda knew what fear could do to a person and now he was terrified. Once again they were lined up and forced to walk down the corridor, but the noise of gunfire stopped them.
- What was that? - The brunette asked.
- Probably some dead at the main gate, just keep walking. - The soldier answered it with a push.
Amanda heard the shooting continue. If it was just a few wanderers they wouldn't need to shoot as much. She couldn't hold back her smile as she imagined that André had something to do with it.
—
- Keep moving and keep behind them. Use them as a shield. - The brunette said in between the noises of gunfire to his friends.
It was right there. Right in front of them. Finally they reached the building. Now all that was left was to enter. André held Ana's hand tightly so that the girl kept moving while some walkers around her dropped dead. There was still a few meters to the wire fence, but he could see that some walkers were already clinging to them trying to get inside. Thanks to the noise of gunfire more and more joined the attack making the situation increasingly desperate for the soldiers. When he was already near the fence, the walkrer he was using as shield was shot down and he could see Murilo, Rodrigo and Guilherme waiting for them.
- And now? How do we get in? - The blue-eyed boy asked.
- I don't think we need to wait long. - Rodrigo said pointing to the fence gate.
The wire fence was useful for measuring the perimeter and preventing 15, maybe 20 walkers from going over. But with 60 of them crowded together the gates that were kept closed only by a thin metal chain began to give way. The soldiers were too terrified to the point that they missed several of their shots, in less than a minute the chain gave way, the gates were opened and the walkers entered.
- It's our chance. Ready? - André asked his girlfriend who had calmed down and dried her tears.
- Yes, let's go.
—
- This sounds like a lot more than a few walkers to me. - Danilo said to the soldier as they entered one of the rooms, the sounds of muffled but persistent gunfire could be heard.
- This is none of your business, now up against the wall.
- Better worry about yourself. - One of the soldiers carrying Kaique with a goatee and light eyes said.
Amanda examined where they were and felt her blood run cold. They were in a rectangular room where one of the long walls had chains like the one around Silvio's neck, 4 of them exactly. On the far wall was a table with notebooks and a camera supported by a tripod.
- What are you gonna do with us? - Amanda asked in a whisper.
- Well, your friend came back after he died. Will you too? - Another one with Asian features asked with a sick smile. - Put the old man first, I can't stand to hear him crying anymore.
- NO! - Kaique shouted trying to run, but the goatee hit him in the leg.
- For God's sake, stop crying and face death like a man.
Amanda and the others were pushed to the wall while Kaique was put in chains on the opposite wall. Sasha sobbed loudly as she buried her face in her hands not wanting to see what was going to happen. Danilo felt his hands shake and his breathing was uneven, so did Amanda. The Asian soldier turned the camera on and after making sure it was in the right position gave a signal to the others.
- Please… please… - The professor, now chained to the wall completely defeated, pleaded in a whisper. - I'm sorry… I'm sorry…
Nobody knew who he apologized to. With the soldiers or with them? He didn't have a chance to say who, and in the next moment the goatee-bearded soldier aimed his gun at the man's chest and pulled the trigger.
