After ADTTB I swore I wouldn't write again but here we are…
Have some more crap~
Trying something different this time...
Despite the picture, this fic starts around season ⅘
(intro inspired by s5ep5-'Malcolm films Reese')

They turned onto Jefferson street and Reese keened, with a bounce in his step, towards the aforementioned tree.

Malcolm adjusted the cap on his head and followed.

"This is it," Reese announced, patting the tree affectionately.

"So...how does it work?" Malcolm tried his best to sound optimistic and genuinely intrigued despite the inner conflict that was eating away at him.

"You just wish right into here." He motioned to a large cavity.

Malcolm peered inside, half expecting to find a squirrel or another inhabitant.

"Go on, try it," Reese smiled.

"Um, I hav- I think you should go first. I mean this is your tree and all…"

"You're right." Reese nodded, seriously. "There's a great tree by the park. You should take that one. It's right by the area where I like to watch sky kittens."

Malcolm wished the lens in his hat weren't working.

Reese leaned into the tree and whispered "I wish Malcolm and I will be friends forever."

Reese smiled and Malcolm smiled back.

Malcolm smiled because it was a sweet gesture but it made his skin crawl with something he couldn't explain.

"I'm so glad we can talk like this with each other. Maybe we can be each other's wishing holes." Reese raised his eyebrows in inquiring excitement.

"Haha, yeah," Malcolm responded, mustering the best expression of happiness he could at the moment.

...

Reese eventually forgave his indiscretion, and after the rightly merited jabs about Shirley, he was ready to forgive himself as well.
But he couldn't see Reese the same way as before.
Every time Reese did something stupid or violent, in the back of his mind he flashbacked to his older brother, wide-eyed, and innocent-looking, describing a cloud's resemblance to a rabbit.
That was the day he started seeing his brother as a human being.
