"Enough!" Everyone froze, though the boys would say they just got caught up in the moment. Blossom swept her glowing eyes to her baby sister, her gaze fierce.
"Come here." Bubbles wordlessly obeyed, knowing she was in trouble. Blossom sighed, cupping her face when she got close enough. Bubbles's eyes were still a flaming red, but the veins in her eyes had disappeared.
"You're too far along, aren't you?" Bubbles nodded with a whimper, clinging to her sister. Buttercup snorted, wiping off bits of concrete.
"I say we just kidnap them. They know too much!" She cackled like the villains in the cheesy horror movies, eyeing the boys. Blossom rolled her eyes, waving a hand to dismiss the idea.
"No. We're all adults here. We'll discuss this like civilized people." Bubbles let go, immediately cozying up to Boomer.
"You'll stay with me, won't you?" Boomer blushed, rubbing his neck in embarrassment.
"Yeah, of course."
"Hold it! You owe us an explanation pinky. We're not all simpletons." Butch nodded in agreement, but his eyes never left Buttercup's tantalizing form. Buttercup flipped him off, shifting on her feet.
"So obviously we're vampires. You guys are our mates and we won't pressure you to turn right now, but it would be best if we turned you soon. Especially for Bubbles, since she's drank from Boomer multiple times now. For Buttercup and I, we'll be fine as long as we're near you for now." Blossom said it like she couldn't be bothered with any further details, but Brick gave her an unimpressed look, crossing his arms. Butch, meanwhile, had his eyes sparkling.
"When are you gonna feed from me Butterbutt? Is it like in the movies where you feed while you have se-"
"No! Ugh if you'd shut up you'd be perfect!"
"True. Talking isn't the only thing I can do with my mouth." He wiggled his eyebrows and she rolled her eyes, smirking.
"I hope you're as good at other things as you are at running your mouth." Butch paused, his hands twitching at her words. That seductive look in her eyes wasn't helping matters either.
"I'm sure you've heard about me sweetheart." Buttercup's mood soured at the reminder. She frowned, no longer in the mood to play. Butch wanted to kick himself for his misstep. Blossom decided to pick it up from there, figuring they'd overstayed their welcome.
"If there aren't any actual questions then we'll be leaving. Bubbles, grab Boomer." Bubbles giggled and mock saluted, throwing Boomer over her shoulder. Brick grabbed her arm, stopping them.
"Boomer isn't going anywhere! Buttercup tried to cut him up and Bubbles was licking his wounds like a pyscho."
"Oh don't be such a drama queen. You're lucky I stopped her before she sucked him dry."
"You can suck me dry anytime!"
"Let go Brick, before I lose my patience. You know what we are now, do you really wanna push your luck?"
"Aren't we your mates or whatever? Doesn't that mean you can't hurt us?"
"So you're ready to spend eternity with us then?" Brick let her go, stepping back.
"Well no. Honestly if Bubbles didn't still have fangs and red eyes I wouldn't believe any of this nonsense. How did you even turn into ones? You were normal when we were kids." Blossom sighed, rubbing her temples.
"The professor went crazy one day and turned us. We're not sure who turned him." Brick narrowed his eyes, invading her personal space.
"Did you kill him? Is that why we never see him around anymore?" All the girls froze. Blossom bit her lip, lowering her head in answer. Buttercup and Bubbles came between them, hissing.
"Shut up about things you have no business asking Brick."
"Yeah! We didn't ask to be turned into monsters! Blossom protected us. If she hadn't killed the professor we would've died!" Brick snorted, crossing his arms but stepping back.
"Murder is murder no matter how you justify it. Isn't that what you always used to preach?" Blossom twitched, while Bubbles and Buttercup glared harder. Buttercup grabbed Bubbles, stepping back to be beside Blossom.
"We're done here for now. We'll let you think about what we've said." Blossom was eerily silent as the girls left, refusing to look at Brick any further. Butch whistled, absently kicking Boomer who'd been dropped to the floor before the girls left.
"All the brains in the world and that's the line you decide to go with. Real smooth." Brick ran a frustrated hand through his hair, wishing he was wearing his cap.
"What did you expect me to say? She was being hypocritical, acting like what she did was okay because she had a good reason. She gave me no such understanding when I killed Him." Butch sobered at the mention of their other parent, if it could even be called that. Mojo was no saint, but he had been much better to them. Boomer winced as his chest started to sting as it healed, finally getting up.
"No, but they probably beat themselves up enough over it without you saying that. Especially Blossom since she's the one who made that dumb rule." Brick walked over and threw his long forgotten bagel in the trash, heading back downstairs.
"Whatever. I'm not done getting answers anyway."
Blossom didn't say a word as the girls returned home. Bubbles was too busy getting herself back under control to notice, but Buttercup knew what was bothering her. She didn't say anything as they followed Bubbles down to the basement, where they kept the IV. Bubbles sighed as she laid on the bed, feeling more like a science experiment the longer she stayed still. Blossom hooked her up, smiling apologetically when she placed the face mask over her mouth.
"I can't trust you awake in this state. I'll wake you up when we've gotten more of Boomer's blood for you." Bubbles huffed in understanding, her eyes drooping as the anesthetic slowly worked through her system.
Blossom played with the ends of her hair, shifting on her feet. She refused to look at Buttercup as her conflicting emotions battled on her face.
"Maybe there had been another way. I could've knocked him out...or tackled him to the floor...or something." Buttercup placed a comforting hand on her shoulder, frowning.
"You did tackle him. He overpowered you, that's how we got bit in the first place. He's was on a rampage, there was nothing else we could have done." Blossom buried her head in her hands, the guilt of killing the Professor overwhelming her.
"Brick was...right though. I said all life was precious...that everyone deserved a second chance but...when it came down to it...I took the easy route."
"Blossom...no-"
"I did! I prioritized my own life...I didn't want to die...I didn't want you two to die...and he wouldn't stop drinking from Bubbles and...he wasn't our Professor anymore...I...I couldn't..." Buttercup pulled her into a hug as her sister dissolved into gut wrenching sobs. She rubbed her back soothingly, blinking rapidly to prevent her own tears from escaping.
"Brick was just being an ass as usual...but I'm sure he didn't mean it like that. And it won't be as painful for them. It'll be fine." Her voice wobbled a bit, but Blossom appreciated what she was trying to do. As they pulled apart, she sniffled as she rubbed her eyes, erasing the evidence of her weakness. She laughed weakly as she lightly tapped her sister's arm, turning to head upstairs.
"You're such a softie BC." Buttercup scoffed, even as the tears began tracking down her cheeks.
"I don't know what you mean."
