Bubbles was a mess as she wailed in the park, unable to get a handle on her emotions until the sun began to set. When she finally managed to get home, Buttercup was the only one there. One look at her baby sister, and she was furious.
"What the hell happened to you? You look like death warmed over." Bubbles's eyes were red rimmed and blazing crimson, but the rest of her vampiric features hadn't made an appearance. She collapsed against her sister, recounting the disaster of an afternoon. Buttercup listened quietly, torn on what to do. On the one hand, she had the mind to tear Boomer a new one, while on the other she could understand his point of view. Turning into a vampire was a heavy decision, and they couldn't take it back once it was decided. So all she could do was continue stroking Bubbles's back as she fell apart in her arms.
"It doesn't sound like he rejected you completely though, so there's still hope that he could come around. Butch wasn't jumping at the thought of turning either, but he didn't outright oppose it. We just need to give them time." Bubbles pushed her away, her expression shifting from heart ache to anger.
"How much time?! We weren't given time to make our decision! Everything's falling apart, and it's all his fault. I hate the Professor for forcing us into this, and I hate Boomer for not being able to accept it!" Bubbles was shouting by the end of her rant, growing more and more furious. Buttercup stayed where she was, her hands twitching by her side.
"Bubbles, calm down. You don't mean that, you know better than anyone what forcing this decision on the boys will do. There's no point in spending forever with someone when they didn't want to! Do you want Boomer to hate you for turning him?" She stopped short at the thought, but her anger and frustration returned soon after.
"Of course not, but I'm starving and I miss him and want him by my side more than anything. But he called me a monster. How could he call me that? He doesn't deserve to choose when we didn't get to. I don't want to wait anymore. None of them should have to think so long and hard about being with us when they've made it clear from the beginning that they want us just as much as we want them. Why are they resisting us? If they want to think about it, they can do it here." Bubbles turned away, preparing to leave. Buttercup rushed to stop her, yanking her arm back and slamming the door closed.
"No, this isn't right. If we force their hand instead of letting them come to us, we'll never know if what we have from that point on is real. I won't live like that, and I won't let you do that either." Bubbles scowled, done arguing with her sister. She threw a punch, kneeing her sister in the face when she doubled over.
"I'm going to get him. I won't force him, but I need to be near him until he makes his decision. And I won't let anyone get in my way." She threw the door open after kicking Buttercup out of the way, but slammed to the ground shortly after. Buttercup had grabbed her ankle, yanking her back inside.
"I won't let you do anything that could put you or the boys in danger. You've crossed the line and ignored the rules long enough. Quit acting like a spoiled brat long enough to think this through! You think he'll accept you with open arms if you burst into his home and try to take him? Wake up!"
"Shut up!" Bubbles kicked her in the face until she let go of her ankle, cracking her knuckles. If Buttercup wouldn't let her go without a fight, she'd beat her until she couldn't get back up. Buttercup spit the blood out of her mouth, rolling her shoulders before slapping Bubbles across the face. Bubbles hissed but didn't have time to retaliate as Buttercup landed blow after blow on her body, determined to beat her into the ground. Bubbles curled in on herself, blocking the blows as she waited for her opening. It came when Buttercup reared back. Bubbles turned and grabbed her shoulders, head butting her. Buttercup swore and grabbed her nose, knowing it was broken. Bubbles bucked her hips and rolled them over, raining her own punches down. Buttercup hit her with her laser vision, launching green orbs of energy at her. Bubbles wasn't able to dodge all of them, forgoing a force field to release a sonic scream. Buttercup groaned as she held her ears, stomping the ground to stop her from continuing. Electricity crackled around Bubbles as she rushed forward, but Buttercup dodged at the last minute, risking the shock to grab her wrist and slam her to the ground. Bubbles screamed as her wrist broke, whimpering as Buttercup held her injured wrist at an uncomfortable angle.
"Give up before I stop messing around. We both know you can't beat me." Bubbles slumped, the pain beginning to overwhelm her. Buttercup released her with a shove, glaring down at her.
That's the scene Blossom came back to, utterly confused.
"The hell? Why were you fighting?" Neither of her sisters answered, both glaring at anything but each other. Blossom sighed, rubbing her temples. Whatever it was about, it was obviously over now.
"I explained everything to Brick. He said he'd help convince his brothers, but he's not ready to be turned. I can start feeding from him and see how that goes before we try anything else." Both her sisters turned their glares to her hearing that, jealousy strong in their hearts. Boomer had looked at Bubbles like she had the plague, and Butch hadn't been that receptive to the idea either, despite making jokes about it. Blossom wisely said nothing else as she crept past both of them, opting to hide in her room given the atmosphere.
I was only gone for a few hours. What in the world did they argue about?
