Summary: Sebastian's insecurities about his relationship with Bella become a cause for concern and drive Blaine into bringing one more person into his inner circle.
Note: Since a lot of "admissions" are made in this chapter, I have titled it Confessions as an homage to Day 1 of Seblaine Week 2021, in which I am not participating this year.
I guess I should give a Star Wars spoiler warning but the movies are over 40 years old so, this is the best you get.
Warning (Tag Added): Prior to the beginning of the 1st chapter, I listed 5 items that were either changes to canon or IRL events I would bring in. This chapter brings in the one dealing with Marley. I understand IRL it is technically a case of he said/she said. This will be Team She Said. If that is a problem for you, thank you for reading until this point.
Reminder: I gave all the Hendersons names that started with J except Molly and Mary (and of course Nana). The women married into the family so they didn't get the J memo. With the Martin family, I really wasn't paying attention and just threw out names willy-nilly. I haven't mentioned them much (except Sissy as one of Bella's friends) but between Bella's birthday and Blaine's music, these names will be more in use. I'll try to reintroduce them slowly.
And finally: I know I have a reader who is a hardcore Tina fan, so, my apologies for making her a villain. It was initially supposed to be Dave betraying both Blaine and Sebastian, but I loved the way he grew throughout the story. That's when I went to Trent for Sebastian and was going to go to fall back on Rachel for Blaine. But, not only is she overly done, I couldn't do that to Bella. It was never going to be Sam, Marley or Carol. Coop's not around and Pam doesn't know the full story of Blaine's money but she knows enough to not do something stupid. That left Tina.
I promise, next story like this, she'll be the hero.
For some reason, Blaine texted Sebastian and asked if he would mind going to get Bella from the Henderson's without him. Sebastian hoped it was because he was already working on the Impossible song. More likely, Blaine was relaxing with his feet up on one of the tables, surfing the internet, enjoying a cup or two of the coffee he believes he's so cleverly hiding in the Warblers' Coffee Bar.
Damn, he missed coffee…especially this morning. At least Nana would be happy to see him dragging his tired ass into her kitchen. Maybe she would take pity on him, even though Blaine had filled all of them, and Nell Martin, in on the No coffee for Sebastian rule.
How could he love a man and hate him so much at the same time?
When Sebastian pulled up to the farm, he was surprised Bella wasn't on the porch ready to greet him. However, she might be saying goodbye to the horses. They weren't coming back to the farm until Friday for her Big Birthday BBQ Bonanza. Everyone had had so much fun at the Flash/Supergirl finale, Bella wanted something similar for her "group birthday party" only…
More bigger, Daddy and Ash. And more cake. Lots of cake! Big, big cake…I love cake soooooooo much.
Since it was also their Star Wars Day, it was going to be a Star Wars themed party complete with costumes, an outdoor showing of Episode IV: A New Hope, and of course, a huge "Death Star Chocolate" (a play on "Death by Chocolate") cake. Blaine had even made him watch Solo, the one Star Wars movie not on the list, so that he had some idea of the character whose costume he'd be wearing. Han was kind of an ass (typecasting much?) but he figured if Luke and Leia were twins, and Blaine and Bella were going as Luke and Leia, Han would get the girl.
This was the one and only time he was ok with that because Bella was definitely his girl.
Any thought he might have been entertaining that everything was fine left the moment he entered the kitchen. The clue wasn't who was missing but who was there.
"Mornin', Sebastian. Coffee?"
Jackson Henderson was what people called a Man's man…tall, rugged and handsome with hands of leather from working the land since the day his father first took him out on the tractor when he was two. John once told Sebastian the only three reasons his father would come back to the house early in the day were Christmas, life (births of children, grandchildren) and death (Jackson's father and youngest son, Jordan). The notable exception was when his mother, Nana, had her stroke…and apparently today.
"No, thank you. Jack, where's Bella?"
"She's in the living room. Somethin' happened that got her upset and I wanted to talk to Blaine and you bout it before you got her. Is he not comin'?" Jackson motioned for Sebastian to take a seat at the kitchen table which was the last thing he wanted to do. He also knew 1…he respected Jackson Henderson enough to hear him out and 2…if Bella was upset, he couldn't be, or he had to at least act like he wasn't.
"I'll take that coffee." Once Sebastian was seated he told Jackson "No, Blaine is in the middle of something. Tell me what happened and I'll call if I think we need him."
"No offense, Seb, but you've only been playin' daddy for a few weeks. Blaine is Bella's Daddy." Sebastian wanted to scream at the comment. He was NOT PLAYING! "But since this is more bout you, I'll let you decide."
Huh? "What the hell does that mean?"
"Bella had a dream last night that woke her up. She said it wasn't a bad dream, but she was yellin'."
Sebastian took a sip of his coffee (oh, how I've missed you) "Bella, hasn't had bad dreams since she got Dalton. Was he with her?"
"Yeah, and like I said, she told Mama it wasn't a bad dream, and also the man in her dream was nice. She doesn't even remember any of this. That happens with kids sometimes, the not rememberin' wakin' up at night or any dreams they had."
"Then what's the problem?"
"She said she was yellin' at the man to tell her his name because all she heard him say was K. That's the name of your boyfriend that died in the accident, right?"
In the breakthrough he experienced realizing Blaine and Bella were K, Sebastian had completely forgotten the cover story of Kevin being K was out there. "Yes, but you said Bella didn't remember any of her dream or telling Nana about it."
"She didn't but…" for once, Jackson Henderson didn't look larger than life "she accidently overheard Mama, Mary and Molly talking bout your dead boyfriend K this mornin'. I'm sorry, Son. She got real upset, saying somethin' bout how you lied just like Not Papa so now she can't have cake for her birthday and she really, really loves cake. I think that's it. Do we need to call Blaine?"
YYYEEESSS! He wanted to scream. Their perfect bubble was popped before they got a chance to bring Bella home and she got the chance to "organically" realize she's his daughter. But damn it, he was not playin' daddy, and if he was going to prove that to people, especially Bella, he couldn't run to Blaine every time shit got hard. "No, take me to her."
As they walked to the front of the house, Sebastian's anxiety grew. How bad had this been for the women to call Jack? Then it hit him…Nana. If Bella was upset and Nana felt it was her fault, they probably needed Jack to calm Nana down. Once that happened, it was most likely his decision to stick around. He was extremely protective of his mother.
Her stroke left her with a sometimes entertaining lack of verbal filter, but it was due to no control of her emotions. Sebastian understood that completely. He was better but sometimes could still sense the misplaced anger he felt towards Blaine. He couldn't let himself be taken over like that again. There was too much good in his life. And one of the best was sitting on Jimmy Henderson's lap with Dalton, watching a horse jumping competition on the TV. She looked so small, and she was small, but you never thought she was. Bella's personality usually doubled…no, tripled her lack of stature, filling whatever room she was in.
Again, that voice in his head screamed to call Blaine.
And again, he told it No. "Hi, Monkey."
"Hi, Ash."
Jimmy sat Bella and Dalton on the couch and turned off the TV before following his grandfather out. Sebastian thought to pick Bella up and put her on his lap but decided against it. Better she came to him so he sat on the other end of the couch. "Your daddy's working on some music stuff and asked me to get you and Dalton. I can do that or I can take the Smythe-mobile back to your daddy and he can come back to get you. Or, we can talk why you're upset."
He got a shrug in response. It was a start.
"Ok, how about I tell you what I know and maybe that will help. Grandpa Jack told me you overheard Miss Molly, Grandma Mary and Nana say some things about me that you didn't know and that made you upset because we love each other and you thought you knew everything about me." Bella pulled Dalton closer, signaling to Sebastian he was on the right track. "But we don't, do we?"
"You know all bout me" Bella whispered.
"I know very little about you."
Bella let go of Dalton, who ran to Sebastian (to be fair, the toddler was practically strangling the kitten). She inched a little closer to him but stopped to give her infamous another head stare. "You know all bout me" she repeated, this time with the stubborn determination Sebastian was far too familiar with.
"I don't know where you were born except NYC. I don't know why your name is Isabella. I have a good guess why your middle name is Samantha. I don't know your first word, although I bet it was Dada. And I have a million other things I don't know but want to. I can keep listing them or I can tell you about what you overheard. Your choice."
The little girl scooted back to her corner. This told him what they would discuss, he just had to figure out how. She was far too young to understand the concept of soul mates…and Blaine would kill him if he went down that road. Whatever he said had to be a stripped-down version of the truth.
"You know I hurt my hip when I was in a car accident, and that I hit my head real hard too."
"That why you go sleep 2 days."
"Maybe? Uncle Doctor Paul and the other doctors don't know for sure. But Monkey, when I hit my head, I forgot a lot of things and some I still don't remember."
"For reals?"
"For reals. And something I don't remember at all is the accident. I just know what people told me. One of those things was my best friend in college, Kevin, was driving the car and he died."
"Nana say his name K and he your boyfriend."
There it was. He got it out of her…"This is where it gets complicated, even for grown-ups. I only remembered Kevin being my friend, not my boyfriend. I did remember loving someone named K very much but I couldn't find him."
"What happened?"
"I got very angry and very mean."
"You?"
Sebastian appreciated the disbelief in her tone. "Yes, me. People knew I lost my love but since the name Kevin starts with the letter K, they assumed he was K and I didn't…donner une baise to keep explaining he wasn't."
"You talk Frenchie when you say no-no words."
"Oui, and one day I'll teach you…as soon as I can run from your father." There had to be more going on in Bella's head. She had followed his explanation but there was nothing to give insight into the comments Jackson made about her ship and not being able to have cake. "What else can I tell you?"
He barely had his question out when she had hers "Why you no tell me and Daddy bout K?" When he laughed at her, she got mad. When he wouldn't stop, Bella walked across the couch and punched him in the arm. "Not funny!"
She kept punching him until Sebastian realized how genuinely angry she was. He wrapped her in his arms, holding tight as she fought to squirm away. "Stop it, Monkey! First, you know the No hitting rule. And second, tell me the name of the notebook your daddy always has when he's working on music. The one that had You+Me in it?"
Bella grunted and twisted and then suddenly came to a full stop "K notebook. Daddy know K? That you have love in your heart for K?"
"Yes, he's known since a few days after you guys got here."
"Why no tell me?"
"Because you, Isabella Samantha Anderson, might be the smartest kid in the whole universe, but you are also a little girl. The outside world is scary right now and if you were any other little girl, I'd say your world should be full of rainbows and butterflies and pretty dresses. However, you, my darling Monkey, should have a world full of superheroes and Jedis and Disney Princesses and horses and white fluffy kittens. There should be lots of swing sets to climb on and rooms full of art supplies and all kinds of music to sing and dance to." Sebastian loosened his grip and turned Bella to face him. "I didn't tell you about K because when I did, I had to tell you about how my friend died and how I can't remember things. I love you and I didn't want you to be scared or sad."
"Ok" Bella slid out of his arms and off the couch. "Come on, Dalton. We go home."
Sebastian's head hadn't spun like this since the accident. It was like the last half-hour didn't happen. He tried to think of something to say to shed light on the change in attitude, but all that came out was "Monkey, Grandpa Jack said you said you couldn't have birthday cake."
"I can now."
"You can? Why?"
"Can't say. Won't come true."
They packed up and said their goodbyes, taking extra time with Nana to prove that Bella was fine. She was skeptical until the soon-to-be 3 year-old went into a 10-minute soliloquy on her visions for her birthday cake. After Bella finished and had run off to say one last goodbye to the horses, Sebastian kissed Nana on the cheek and told her…yes, her ship had sailed, but she'd have to keep it secret until Friday. They were going to tell Bella first at her dinner tomorrow night.
"She don't know?"
"I thought she did when Molly told me about Monkey running around here yesterday yelling your ship had sailed. Finding out about K must have put doubts in her mind but now that she knows Blaine knew all along, she'll put it together pretty quick. Our girl is damn smart."
"And she got herself a backup plan."
"What backup plan?"
"Sometimes I be forgettin' your cute ass grew up all fancy over there in Paris and not like no normal kid."
Was that supposed to be a compliment? "Very fancy. I grew up running through the halls of the Louvre where my Mère was curator. When this is all over, I'll take you and show you just how fancy."
"Ain't getting' me in one of them damn flyin' tin-cans" Nana laughed, but Sebastian could tell she was intrigued by the offer. "And whatcha missed out was a good old-fashioned birthday cake. Birthday cakes are made for two reasons…candles and wishin'. That baby girl has plans to be wishin' for only one thing come Friday."
"A horse"
"No, you fuckin' idiot…you!"
The ride back to Dalton was non-stop word vomit of Bella's time at the farm. Most of the focus was on the horses and time with her friends but she was also extremely excited about the eggs they were bringing back with them. It was the first time she had gone to help fetch them and hadn't broken any.
When they got to the main building Sebastian noticed Blaine's patio doors were open. He was sure they were closed when he left and Blaine was supposedly in the Warblers Commons. However, when he and Bella walked into the apartment, through the patio, they immediately found out that wasn't the case.
"Sam, I have people on it. Marley's agent has people on it. They'll find out who leaked the story. You take care of Marley and Miss Rose…No, if it was someone from the hospital the story would have hit the press before Miss Rose was released…Sam…Sam! You're not breaking quarantine when Marley is pregnant and Miss Rose was just cleared of the virus…Yeah, welcome to being a responsible parent. Speaking of, I don't want you going after Mercedes either. Bella's my daughter, I'll handle it."
"Ash" Sebastian was snapped out of listening by Bella pulling on his pant leg "Let's go."
"No, let your daddy finish talking to Sammy." He unzipped her bag and dumped the contents on Blaine's bedroom floor.
Bella gasped as she stared at the small mess in horror "What you do that for?!"
"Put your dirty clothes in the wash basket and everything else where it belongs so Mr. Neat Freak doesn't have a meltdown. I'll sneak into the kitchen to put the eggs away."
Oh, he had absolutely no intentions of sneaking. "What's going on with Sam and why are you here and not at the piano?" Sebastian asked as he put the eggs in the fridge.
"Where's Bella?"
"Perfecting her Blaine Warbler 2.0 OCD by putting her stuff away the minute she walks in the door." He wasn't going to admit to his role in what she was doing. It had just been a ploy to get a few minutes of toddler-free discussion. "So?"
"A couple of gossip sites somehow found out Supergirl's mother caught the virus so now the internet is slamming Marley from all sides, good and bad, especially since both Marley and Miss Rose have ties to Sue through McKinley."
"Miss Rose does?"
"She worked as the lunch lady the year Marley went there."
"And Sam is ready to fight whoever gave this to the press."
"Yup. But that's not all."
Before this went any further, Sebastian decided he had to take care of the morning's earlier business first. "I've got something to tell you too."
"Bella finding out about K? I heard."
"You heard? How?"
"Jimmy called"
Jimmy called Blaine? That was unexpected. "I didn't tell her we're soul mates if that's what you're worried about. And I didn't tell her we're together. The whole finding out I had a dead boyfriend debacle threw her off of her ship sailing. Her main issue was she thought I was hiding K from the two of you…especially you."
"How did you convince her I knew?"
"Asked her the name of the notebook you work on music with."
Blaine smiled, looked back toward the bedrooms to make sure the coast was clear, then gave Sebastian a quick kiss. "Brilliant."
"Thank you. I hadn't thought about my letting people believe Kevin was K. That's something we'll have to deal with, but when we have more time. What else happened here?"
"Kurt had someone post a birthday video for Bella on the New Directions Facebook page."
"Daddy!"
Adult conversation time ended as the men turned to find Bella (and Dalton, of course) standing in the hallway. She ran toward Blaine, jumping up into his embrace the moment she reached him, only to discover there was a problem.
"Daadddy, you have fuzzy face" the new arrival whined. "I can no kiss it."
"Then give me his kisses" Sebastian walked over and took Bella from Blaine's arms, swinging her around in the process.
"Bas, stop!"
Both Sebastian and Bella jerked their heads around to see Blaine standing frozen, tears beginning to fall. "Hey, B, I'm sorry. I know you missed Monkey last night…"
"No, it's not that."
"Then what's wrong?"
"Nothing's wrong…it's perfect."
Sebastian looked at Bella who shrugged. She didn't get it either, but she had an excuse. She was 2 days away from being 3 years old. What was his excuse besides Blaine could be overdramatic at times and thus impossible to read when he got emotional? He made a quick mental note to NEVER repeat that out loud before admitting "We don't understand."
"You walked over here and took Bella from me without worrying about balance or weight distribution or pain. And then you spun her and probably didn't once think of falling. Look how far you've come since our first night when you insisted on carrying her to your apartment. When we had to carefully balance her on your good hip so you could counter-balance with your cane. Hell, I had to open the doors. I bet you could knock down all the doors now." Blaine walked to them and took Sebastian's hand in his. "I am so proud of you."
"I so proud you too, Ash." Bella hugged his neck while peppering kisses on his cheek.
For all the talk of how well Sebastian was standing, he could feel his knees begin to buckle. Last night he declared Blaine and Bella his Soul Mates. However, he would always remember this moment as when they became his family. A real and forever family. There was no way he wasn't letting them leave Dalton without a plan for their future together firmly in place. "I couldn't have done it without the two of you."
"You could have, Bas."
"No, I couldn't." Sebastian squeezed Blaine's hand, in place of the kiss he wanted so desperately to give him. "I proved that. So much so, the people I thought cared about me wanted to put me in a rehab center. But you two walked in here and said No, we're going to make you take care of yourself whether you like it or not. And I know I wasn't the most appreciative…"
"You call Daddy evil murder-bot and say lots of Frenchie no-no words bout veggies and ex-cises and…" Bella began the list for Sebastian only to be interrupted by her father.
"Wait" Blaine stepped back and focused on Bella "How do you know Bas is saying no-no words when he's speaking French?"
"I hear you say it. Ash gonna teach me when he can run."
"Ash is gonna what?" Blaine asked with his arms now folded across his chest and a cocked eyebrow.
"That was a seeccret" Sebastian reminded the tattle-tale.
"Oopsie"
"Yeah, oopsie." Sebastian put Bella down. "Ok, we have swimming scheduled first on our Ash and Monkey Fun Day. Why don't you go get your brush and all the bands Miss Molly gave us so we could do your swim hair? And get out Dalton's toys so he's ready to be by himself. And take your time so your daddy can yell at me about the Frenchie words."
Blaine picked Bella up to stop her. "What do you mean her swim hair?"
"The double braid around the top of her head so her hair isn't in her eyes when she swims."
"I know that" Blaine sighed as his daughter's hair was as much a frustration for him as his own. "But Molly always does it for a reason. I can't. I can't even French braid."
"Ash can" Bella stated matter-a-factly, looking up at her father.
Blaine dropped her (gently) and walked closer to Sebastian. "When did you learn to braid her hair? And why do you never do it here?"
"The mornings I take Monkey to the farm when you're working in the Music Center, I've just been staying a little longer to learn how to do the braids. And I don't do it here because I love her wild, curly hair (like yours, he mouthed so Bella wouldn't hear). The braids are for either the farm or pool. No big deal. Monkey, go get your stuff."
"No"
Attention turned back to the little girl who wasn't budging. "Isabella Samantha Anderson, Bas told you to do something so you do it."
"No, I wanna see v'deo."
How? She couldn't have overheard them…could she? They had been careful. Sebastian stepped toward Bella but Blaine put his hand up and took over. "What video?" he asked, hoping to get an unexpected answer.
"Not Papa v'deo"
Damn it!
Sebastian wouldn't be silenced this time. "Monkey, I don't think that's a good idea. At least not until your daddy and I watch it."
"No, Bas" Blaine said while smiling at his daughter. "Bella's right, it is her video. But that doesn't mean you have to stay."
"How dare you say that to me!"
Sebastian didn't yell, Bella didn't even hear him, but Blaine heard him loud and clear. "Sweetie, Daddy's laptop is in the Warblers Commons, so why don't you get your swimming stuff ready so you and Bas can go swimming right after you watch the video. And don't forget about Dalton."
"And time so you yell at Ash bout Frenchie no-no words. Come on, Dalton. Let go find your squeaky mousies." She didn't have to call for the kitten anymore, he literally did follow her around like a puppy, but it had become a habit.
Once they were gone, Blaine turned back to Sebastian "Bas, I…"
"You don't get it." Sebastian dismissed him, walking toward the kitchen, although he didn't know why.
"No, I don't" Blaine countered. "And I won't until you explain it to me."
Blaine did have a point. Sebastian hated when that happened. He had to turn around and face him like an adult. "This is hard for me because it's about feelings I don't understand and anger I still have problems controlling. And I swear B, now is not the time to go into how I should have been seeing a shrink…"
Blaine held up both hands "Hey, woah, not going there. And you're feelings are real and valid. All I'm saying is I can't help you with them if I don't know what they are."
Shit! Now Blaine was being reasonable. He wanted to be anything but reasonable! "I know you're not 100% sold yet, but I know in my heart you, me and Monkey are Soul Mates. That means she's my daughter too, but the world is never going to accept that. One look and everyone knows she's your daughter. With Hummel, she called him Papa. It doesn't matter what I do, I will always be the guy who came in after…the "Step", even if I was to someday adopt my own child."
"Bas…"
"Jackson told me I had only been playing daddy a few weeks. And did Jimmy tell you, when Monkey thought I was hiding K, she said I was A liar like Not Papa? Those I could almost live with but you dismissed me. You told me I didn't have to stay. How is the world supposed to see me as her parent if you never will?"
Blaine ran to him, muffling his cries, deciding if Bella saw them the truth would just come out. "Bas, I'm so, so sorry. You have been more of a parent to Bella in the past few weeks than Kurt was in her whole life."
Somehow, the much taller man had his face buried into the crease of his lover's neck. "God B, she told me I knew everything about her and I started listing off the things I didn't know to prove her wrong. The list was so long."
"We'll fix that. I promise."
"Ash? You ok?"
Ok, new plan. "Laugh" Blaine whispered.
"What?"
Blaine began to laugh hard. "He's fine, Sweetie. We were just laughing about Sammy and Marley's surprise for after your birthday dinner tomorrow evening."
"Yeah, Monkey" Sebastian wiped his eyes, bumping Blaine as a thank you for the recovery. "They're going to be really, really surprised."
Bella put her brush and the box of bands on the coffee table. Then she put her hands on her hips and stomped her foot. "How come I can no know surprise?"
"Because surprises are seeccrets and you have problems keeping seeccrets, don't you Miss Tattle-tale about Frenchie no-no words" Sebastian reminded her.
She dropped her hands. "Oh, yeah."
"Well, if you think you can keep a different surprise, I have a suggestion. I got a call from Mr. Roger and all the deliveries are ready to come out of isolation. That means all the presents for your birthday party are ready to be brought in and wrapped."
"Yay!"
Bella had never had a kid's party before. They didn't really know people with kids in NYC. Plus, she was so young, and Kurt was Kurt, that they just had dinner with people and those people brought gifts for Bella. There would be a cupcake later when Burt and Carole visited for her to smash her face into for the yearly picture.
When Blaine explained what a birthday party was, he said it was like Christmas, but just for her. Bella didn't like that. She told him she had lots of toys and clothes already. So, she asked everyone to give gifts to her new friends instead because They were super-duper nice and helped her and Daddy lots staying away from bad bugs…and there was horses!
Blaine was so proud, that was the day he got her the 2 horses for her birthday…totally ignoring the facts he had no idea how to care for them and nowhere to house them. In fact, he had nowhere to house him and Bella (and Sebastian?) either.
He should probably start looking into that.
"So, my suggestion is we change plans. You and Bas go get the gifts and bring them back so we can wrap them, but leave the other boxes there. Miss Nell already has our costumes so she can iron them. Then after lunch and your nap, we can ALL (emphasis on all) watch the video before you and Bas go swimming and practicing your dance for Uncle Dave and Uncle Doctor Paul's wedding."
"What you do, Daddy?"
"Daddy is going to make a call then Daddy is ready to write the Impossible song."
30 minutes later Blaine was waiting in the Warblers Common for the person he texted to be able to get on Zoom. This was a big chance he was taking but he had already taken one that morning. How was Sebastian going to react when he found out he had given Xavier 2 of his Stanley Anderson paintings? One was collateral to fund an intensive search for Thad, or technically, his theory Thad was the third passenger in Sebastian's accident. The second was to cover what he was about to do.
The video was a disaster. Yes, he had watched it and no, Sebastian didn't know. Kurt obviously made it before their Zoom call yesterday and Mercedes flat out stated she was posting it because he was preventing Kurt from getting on social media…which was true, but how did she know?
Burt had some explaining to do.
On top of all this was the news about Miss Rose. Thankfully, she was already back at Pamela's house and the press didn't have the address. The problem was Sam was so livid, The Blond Chameleon, NightBird's usual partner in solving these mysteries, was worthless. Energy Man, Sebastian's new persona, was good for Comic Acting Day but not actual "crime-fighting". That's why he needed a spy on the inside of the New Directions.
NightBird just couldn't believe this was his choice.
When the caller finally accepted, he just turned on the Zoom, not saying anything, wondering how long it would take for her to recognize the background.
"Well, well, well, Hobbit, I'll admit you're the last…Holy Fucking Shitballs! You're at fucking Dalton!"
"Good to see you too, Satan."
Santana took a drink from a coffee mug, never taking her eyes off Blaine. "You've got a fire in your eyes I've never seen. Something's going on with you and it's more than that stunt Lady Hummel pulled this morning."
"Did you have anything to do with it?"
After shaking her head, Santana put down the mug. "No, but I did obviously know about it. I tried to talk Brit out of participating but if you remember from the wedding, she's all about the Klaine." Blaine's scoff didn't go unnoticed. "I could tell everything wasn't all fairies and unicorns at Finn's dedication."
"Dave said as much. He thought you, Kitty and Quinn figured it out before I slapped Kurt."
"You going to tell me about that?'
"Nope"
"Then why am I still talking to you?"
*Ding*
"Check your texts."
*picture of Blaine, Sebastian and Bella at the farm*
It took Santana a moment to respond because she had to recover her phone once she dropped it. "You're with Smythe" she hissed excitedly, trying to keep her voice down so her wife didn't hear.
"Yep"
"Are you with-with him?"
"You haven't earned another question. It's my turn."
Santana sat back with a Cheshire Cat grin plastered to her face. "You are so doing him, but go on."
There was no turning back now. "I need a spy inside the New Directions totally loyal to me. Anything we discuss would stay between us to include Sebastian, Brittany and Sam. I'm willing to pay you…$2 million, $5 million if you find the proof I need."
"Are you kidding?" When Blaine shook his head, Santana excused herself, went to the bedroom door and called out to Brittany that the Zoom with her mom was going to take a while before locking the door. "My parents are not handling quarenting together well and Mom calls a lot to bitch. Brit likes to stay out of it."
"So, you're in?"
"You walked me down the aisle, Anderson. We're kind of bonded for life but I didn't say I'm in. I want to know what I'm getting myself into."
"Mercedes may have posted Kurt's video but Tina's behind it and watching it, I think she had help…Ryder."
"Like Hudson 2.0 from the New New Directions, Ryder? If you want shit on him and Tina, ask Kitty. She was there with you."
"And Artie. Remember, Kitty dated Artie and wasn't a fan when he married Tina. Not only that, I also think Tina and Ryder are behind the leak to the press on Miss Rose. San, Marley didn't stop contact with the New Directions because she got famous. She stopped because of Ryder."
"We all had bad break-ups…"
"Cooter"
Santana stopped cold. No further explanation necessary, although she did wonder how Blaine knew. "Kitty would kill the bastard. Does Artie know?"
"About Ryder?"
"About his fucking wife!" Santana yelled, pounding the desk. She then yelled out some Spanish to keep alive the charade she was speaking to her mother.
"He knows I suspect her of giving Kurt my private Zoom number although she denies it. When we spoke this morning, he was going to threaten to tear apart her computer but I told him to drop it."
"Why?"
Blaine sighed, losing his assertiveness for the first time since logging on. "Because I was hoping to have you so I could spare him at least that."
"Fine" Santana took her hair down only to pull it up again. "Keep your money. Auntie Snixx is getting to the bottom of this."
"In that case"
*Ding*
"What the hell did you send me Anderson? Oh, please tell me it's a porno of you and Snarky Warbler."
"Fuck you"
She didn't drop the phone this time, even with all the laughing she was doing. "Why the hell is he making that face?"
"I told him Rachel was Bella's birth mom. We'll talk soon but I have to sign off. I have a song to write."

Notes:
Blaine is having Sebastian watch Star Wars in chronological (not release) order so he would know Luke and Leia are twins from Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. But Seb will have to watch Luke and Leia not knowing in Episodes IV-VI and the yuckies (the kiss) that comes with it.
Reminder: After the accident, Sebastian let the outside world believe his college roommate Kevin was K. He thought he'd figure out the real K once the concussion wore off and could correct the misunderstanding then, he just never got his memories back so he didn't. It hadn't been an issue for him until now.
I am well aware Sebastian was not told everything Bella told Nana about the man in her dream.
Reminder: Blaine is essentially broke until HIS BIRTHDAY (a month in story time) and he can get his hands on his full inheritance. That is why he had to put the paintings up as collateral to pay for the search for Thad and what he planned to pay Santana. How he came up with the money for this extravagant birthday Bella is about to have will be explained.
Cooter was Beiste's husband in Season 3. Santana was part of the group of girls who found out he was being abusive.
