Chapter 3
BLACKWATER
(Vienna)
I was sitting outside when Iris walked up to me.
"Hey, hun we're having a meeting they got the first piece of the weapon. Aris said she needs you." She said. I stood and followed Iris inside. Everyone was gathered and Aris was in the middle with Jason.
"Good Vienna you're here." She flew over to me.
"Yes, can I help you with something?" I asked quietly.
"You see Vienna I know your brother Joshua. We need to find him to decipher this text. Do you have any idea how to find him?" Jason asked.
"First off how do you know my brother?" I asked.
"He and I used to do archeological digs together."
"I see well I've been thinking of ways to find him but I know there's only one person who can help us find him and to find her we'll need help."
"Do you wish to bring people with you Vienna?" Iris asked me.
"Yes but only a few Jason you can come with," I said.
"Me too please I'm so bored," Elizabeth said.
"Okay Elizabeth, just don't irritate anyone," I said.
"Good luck getting her to not annoy anyone," Jasmine said.
"Hey, Jasmine I've been working on being much more pleasant to be around," Elizabeth said.
"Vienna I have your suit ready." Hank said.
"Oh but I don't fight." I said.
"Just get the suit or Hank will cry he loves making those things." Elizabeth said. I shrugged and followed Hank to his lab. My suit was navy blue it has white wave symbols on it. It was a bodysuit that covered my feet.
"Since you control water, your suit can withstand high-pressure water, and it's of course waterproof." He said.
"Thanks, Hank," I said.
"Where are we headed?" Elizabeth asked me once I returned to the living room after getting dressed.
"The Caribbean Islands," I said.
"Um none of us know how to fly the blackbird," Elizabeth said.
"Oh, I do," Jason said. So we boarded the ship and lifted off. I was nervous as we flew. Messing with my shoulder-length black hair.
"Don't worry we'll find your brother." Elizabeth said.
"That's not what I'm worried about." I said honestly. When we landed I led Elizabeth and Jason to a nearby wharf.
"The Caribbean is actually a prime place to-"
"Jason, don't start or I will burn your mouth off," Elizabeth warned. I walked to a boat called sea witch.
"This looks like a pirate ship." Elizabeth said. I rolled my violet eyes. I opened the cabin doors. Inside sleeping in a chair was Wade. He had light blonde hair with the back tied in a bun and his face had stubble from not being shaved. He was wearing a sleeveless light blue shirt, and black pants with belts around his waist his ear had piercings. He wore brown boots I could tell since his feet were propped up on his desk.
"He's hot is he a pirate." Elizabeth asked.
"No, but I am a light sleeper." He said opening his sky blue eyes. "Aye Vienna It's been a while." He said.
"I need your help." I said.
"First tell me who the blonde and the nerd are." He said. Taking his feet off his desk.
"That's Jason and Elizabeth." He stood and walked up to Elizabeth and kissed her hand.
"Name's Wade." He said.
"Okay, are you sure you're not a pirate?"
"What's this about Vienna?" He asked.
"I need help finding her."
"Aye, you've come to the right place." He said putting on his brown long coat.
"Wait how can he help us."
"The girl we're looking for he and her are enemies of sorts."
"Been hunting her a while."
"You see Wade's a mutant too he has invincible skin. He hunts dangerous things."
"Wait this person we're looking for is dangerous."
"Aye," Wade said.
"Come on guys he even talks like a pirate!"
"Well I ain't no pirate, now let's head out luckily I know where she is." He said walking out of his cabin. He went up to the top of the ship.
"He even has a ship wheel." Elizabeth said.
"It's a helm damn you're pretty but annoying." He said. Elizabeth looked like she was about to punch him.
"Did you know pirate ships date back to-"
"Shut these two up and get me some whiskey Vienna before I throw em overboard." Elizabeth was about to open her mouth but Wade cut her off. "And I ain't no damn pirate." He said. I grabbed Elizabeth and Jason's hands and led them below deck.
"Just help me find some whiskey." I said.
"Should he be sailing while drinking?" Jason asked.
"He's fine, he's a pirate." I said. We all laughed together.
"I found it." Elizabeth said. We headed back up. I looked to see we were headed towards an island. I gave Wade the whiskey he took off the cap and drank it.
"She lives in the caves on this island." He said. We laid anchor and took a rowboat out there. There were sharks swimming in the water. Elizabeth held onto Wade who was scowling the whole way there. When we got on the island a storm was rolling in we quickly got into the caves.
"She knows we're here." Wade said.
"I guessed that much." I said. We went deep inside the cave. Elizabeth lit the way with fire in her palm. We finally got to a wide cavern there was a pool of water in there.
"Alright, we have to go in it's deep." Wade said.
"Okay, I'll make an air bubble." I said. We went in the water I made a bubbled for us so we could walk on the ground. There was an entrance that looked like a palace. We walked in and climbed some stairs. Then we reached a throne room of sorts. There laying on the throne was Raina, my sister.
"A mermaid." Elizabeth squealed.
"I thought they were only legend." Jason said. She had black soulless eyes and long black hair that floated above her head because of the water. Her tail was deep black with navy fins. She had on a silk like bra. Her nails were black and she had black lips.
"Hello sister, Wade." She said.
"Vienna she's your sister are you a mermaid too?" Elizabeth asked.
"No my sister made a deal with the sea demon." I said glaring. Around her neck was a necklace with a blue gem it had red on the bottom.
"This better be good little sister I don't like being bothered." She said. With a wave of her hand the water left and I didn't need to hold up the air bubble anymore. Her tail turned into two pale legs that were covered by a black dress with two slits on the side. Her feet had blue heels on. She ran her hand through her hair and it dried instantly turning wavy. Her eyes were now normal and blue.
"I need your help."
"Is that why you brought my enemy with you?" She asked raising an eyebrow.
"Wouldn't call us enemies Raina." He said smiling.
"Needless to say what do you need sister?" She asked crossing her legs.
"I need help finding Joshua."
"What do you mean is he alright?" She asked.
"He's missing."
"I see I guess I'll help but only because I care about my brother." She said. She got up off the throne.
"Follow me." She said. She led us to a chamber that seemed to be a place of ritual. In the center was a pool of blue water.
She kneeled down by it and looked at it. Her eyes turned red and an image appeared an underwater base.
"He's there." She said. She looked worried.
"I'm coming with you." She said.
"Alright," I said. We left the cave my sister changed to a more moveable outfit she called it. Black shorts with a blue shirt attached to the back of them and a short sleeve white blouse with a black corset over it, fishnet stockings, and black pumps.
"I wish I could make clothes appear." Elizabeth said. We got on Wade's ship heading towards the underwater base. I saw my sister standing by the side of the ship looking at the water.
"How've you been Vienna?" She asked.
"Do you actually care?" I asked back.
"Yes, it's been years since I've seen you."
"Then maybe you shouldn't have made yourself into a monster," I said before walking away from her.
(Raina)
I looked back at Vienna when I noticed Wade going into his cabin. I turned and walked inside as well.
"After this is over I'm going to kill you." Wade said.
"Is that so?" I asked sitting on his desk.
"Yes." He said opening his whiskey. I walked over to him.
"Aren't you tired of chasing me?" I asked taking the whiskey from him and looking him in the eye. He snatched the bottle back.
"Nice try Raina I know what you're doing." He said.
"And what's that?" I asked.
"Messing with my head." He said. He then pulled me close to him.
"You see Raina the problem is I know you if I didn't maybe your mind games would work, but I do know you the real you." He said before walking past me.
(Vienna)
"What happened anyways?" Jason asked me.
"She was just like me a mutant with the ability to control water. We would compete at who was better. I was always more skilled. My brother Joshua was a normal human but he loved us both. One day Raina and me got into a fight and she left. When she returned she wasn't the same you see she made a deal with the sea demon. She would have power but everything that she did would add up. That necklace around her neck is a meter of sorts it starts out blue when it turns red she reaches her capacity then she must kill someone or the sea demon will kill one of her loved ones. One time she reached red she told us if she didn't kill someone Joshua would die. Joshua was willing to pay for her stupidity but she couldn't stand that so she killed someone saving our brother. After that Joshua never looked at Raina again I never looked at her again. So she left us living in the ocean." I finished. Then I heard clapping behind me. I turned to see Raina.
"Spoken like a true hero Vienna." She said.
"That's the truth."
"You wouldn't know anything about truth." She said.
"I know more than you. You take innocent lives."
"I don't have to listen to this." She said before jumping back into the ocean. Suddenly a giant wave boosted the ship in the right direction.
"Tell that sea witch to be carful." Wade yelled. I went and helped move the waves soon we got to the place we needed to be. My sister resurfaced back near the boat.
"What's the plan this base is huge and my mirror waters aren't very specific?" Raina asked.
"I'll take Elizabeth with me, Wade you go with Raina, and Jason you stay here we need a lookout and Aris won't be happy if you get injured."
"Alright stay save." Jason said I nodded and took Elizabeth's hand.
"I just love how much water we have to go in." Elizabeth said snidely. Wade jumped in near my sister. They dived and I followed after I led Elizabeth to the right side of the place.
"We'll cause a distraction, find Josh." My sister said.
(Raina)
I took off my necklace and started putting it around Wade's neck.
"What are you doing?"
"It'll help you breathe under here without me having to babysit you." After it was around his neck I pulled him to my eye level.
"Don't lose it!" I said before letting him go. I then went to the entrance and forced the door open with water. Men in suits came out and started firing at us.
(Vienna)
I got Elizabeth and myself inside the base which Elizabeth was glad was dry. We reached a big door that was locked.
"Finally I'm useful." Elizabeth said heating up the lock before pulling it off. We reached a room with a huge cell in it. There sitting was my brother I ran up to the cell.
"Joshua!"
"Vienna."
"Wow, you two look alike." Elizabeth said probably commenting on our similar hair and eye color. Elizabeth burned the cage open and I hugged my brother.
"How'd you find me?" He asked.
"Raina." I said.
"I see." He said then the base shook us all.
"We should go," Elizabeth said. I led us all out and floated us back up to the surface.
(Raina)
I saw Vienna leaving with Joshua and speedily swam over to Wade I grabbed his hand and swam us to the top. I jumped out the water and instantly switched back to my legs landing on the ship.
"Get us out of here." I told him. He ran to the helm.
"Vienna get this boat moving." I said. While I pushed the men after us away from the boat she got the boat moving and I helped ignoring Wade's complaints. When we reached the shore we relaxed. We then ended up by this huge airship.
"Josh I wish it was in better circumstances that I found you but we need your help." Vienna said.
"What is it?" He asked.
"The Earth is under attack and we need your help." Vienna said.
(Vienna)
After explaining everything I looked to Raina and Wade.
"Thanks for your help both of you."
"Hold on sis we may not get along but if what you're saying is true then I'm not going back to wait for you guys to save the world. I'll come with you'll need the extra muscle."
"Aye, I'll come as well I have to follow this witch." Wade said.
"Alright everyone on board." Elizabeth said.
Once on Jason gave a picture of the hieroglyphs for Josh to decipher. Elizabeth sat by Wade and I sat by my brother. My sister sat at the back of the plane away from us. She looked down at the sea as we took off.
"I've got half of it say's something about molten rock." Josh said.
"Probably a volcano." Jason said before our ship was hit by something. We shook and Elizabeth screamed.
"We're being attacked." Jason said.
"Can we shake them?" Elizabeth asked.
"No." He said.
(Raina)
I looked at my sister and brother before getting out of my seat. I went over to Wade.
"I'm going to need my necklace back."
"We're not near any water what are you going to do?" He asked.
"Save my brother and sister just give me the necklace." He took it off and handed it to me. I looked around the shaky ship before finding a cooler I took a bottle of water.
"Open the hatch nerd and whatever happens keep flying." I said He nodded and opened the hatch. I ran out seeing the ship behind us.
(Vienna)
"Raina!" I yelled as my sister jumped out the flying ship. I then watched Wade unbuckle his seat belt.
"What are you doing!" I yelled.
"Making sure she doesn't kill herself thats my job after all." He said and I nodded.
(Raina)
I landed in a roll on top of the airship. I then quickly opened the water bottle and controlled the water to cover my hands. I then touched the top of the airship. It started to shake and I jumped off it before it exploded. I fell quickly towards the ground and closed my eyes when I felt someone grab me. Then I felt impact I rolled through the ground before stopping on something soft that kept me alive. I opened my eyes and looked down to see Wade under me. I felt his arms wrapped around me.
"I was hoping to get rid of you." I said.
"Sorry to burst your bubble." He huffed out.
"Are you hurt?" I asked.
"Do you care?" He asked.
"To be honest yes I actually do," I said getting off him. He looked at me strangely.
"Somethings off about you."
"I've had time to think."
"You could have died you know."
"I know, wait to ruin my moment of true heroism." I said looking around it was desert.
"We'll have to hoof it." I said.
"Raina."
"Yes."
"What were you thinking about in that cave of yours?"
"What I've done if it was worth it."
"Was it?"
"Maybe." I said I then turned my heels into flats and started walking.
"Let's find some water." I said.
(Vienna)
"I deciphered it." Joshua said.
"Great, Elizabeth call someone," I said. She dialed on her phone.
"Hello, Jasmine put your phone on speaker."
"Okay Joshua whats the message."
"A place of magma hot. Look in this spot. Where molten rock flows and there was once grey snow."
"Probably Pompeii." Jason suggested.
"Well send people to check it out." Aris said.
"We did it mission success." Elizabeth said.
"Lets hope it was worth it." I said looking out my window.
