*Blossom*
"Brick you're scaring me, what happened?" She tried again.
Brick tried his hardest to fight back a tear that was trying to escape his eye but the tear rolled down his cheek as he blinked. "Blossom, I got to go." He said. Blossom was confused, "go? Go where?" She asked, none of this was making sense to her.
"I made a deal with Berserk to leave you alone." Blossom was catching on to what was about to be said next, "but I need to leave you. It's the only way." He choked.
"No! No. No, this is not happening." She stepped back starting to pace around the room.
"It is. And you can't come after me." Brick continued, avoiding eye contact with his girlfriend...his ex girlfriend.
"Brick, you're not thinking straight! You can't go with her because she's threatening to kill me" Blossom begged more than stated as she walked towards and and cupped his face in her hands but that just made Blossom tear up. Blossom could see it wasn't easy for Brick to see her upset but she's not going to lose him.
"I refuse to give you up!" Blossom barked. Brick looked at her in the eye before speaking, "Bloss, please. I have to." Brick said as he slowly removed Blossom's soft hands from his face. The pink Puff noticed a duffle bag across Brick's shoulder, "where will you go?" She asked.
"Away from here. Like I said, don't come after me. This is it for us" with that Brick zoomed out the window leaving a red streak behind him.
"Nooo!" Blossom screamed after him but she did not fly after him. She watched him as the red streak disappeared in the dark skies. Blossoms eyes teared up as she curled up on the floor begging to herself, "please."
The pink Powerpuff would often think about that night playing in her head over and over again. "Orders up!" Blossom heard the harsh ding from the bell and snapped back to reality before carefully being passed the hot plate by the chef behind the hatch on the wall which separated the diner to the back kitchen. The pink eyed waitress walked towards the one customer that was in the diner, "chicken club sandwich with a side of fries" Blossom smiled before placing the hot food in front of an elderly man. The man folded his news paper before winking, "could you please be a lamb and refill my soda?" The man asked as he passed his empty glass to the waitress. "Right away, sir" Blossom smiled.
As Blossom refilled the mans drink she started day dreaming in the process. It's been nearly 5 months since Brick left and how the emotions have been so cruel towards her, she will never understand. Before graduation the school had agreed to let the pink Puff resit her biology test and she passed with success. However, her cheating scandal is all over her personal record which no good university would accept but Blossom and the Professor had a talk and agreed if Blossom took Honors Chemistry at Townsville Community College the Professor would help Blossom with vacancies at his workplace. Chemistry was easy for Blossom as she was raised by a scientist and it was a huge advantage considering the Professor is high in his field. There was hope for Blossom yet. "Here you go, sir" the girl said politely as she sets down the elderly mans drink.
I wish Bubbles and Buttercup were here...she thought to herself as she desperately missed her sisters. Bubbles managed to get into Megaville University studying fashion about the industry, designs and colours etc, she loves her class. The blue Puff moved away early in September to Megaville City and got a dorm. She also managed to get a driver's license and a car because Megaville has lately brought out a new law that the city does not allow super humans to use any superpowers, that includes flying or fighting evil - everything gets handled by Megaville Police. On the other hand Buttercup got into Rivington Campus which is located in Stormville. Stormville is on the opposite side of Megaville City, luckily there's no restrictions for Buttercup to use her powers if she needed them. Buttercup moved out as well and she is currently studying English Literature...go figures, Buttercup. Stormville is maybe a 10 minute fly to Glassville which is where Butch is studying at Glassville University to become a mechanical engineer. Butch and Buttercup's relationship is still strong as ever of course, I'm really happy for them.
Once again Blossom snapped out of her day dream when she heard the door opening for another customer. She turned her head to see it was Boomer. He was wearing his usual jeans and blue polo and he beamed a smile towards Blossom as he made his way towards the counter bar to place his order. Boomer didn't go to any fancy college or university, instead he stayed home taking a gap year with the education and got a full time job as a social youth worker. The job really suited Boomer, if anybody knew what these poor kids were going through it was him as he probably has experienced worse. "What's up, pink Puff?" Boomer greeted as he pulled out a stool from under the counter and took a seat.
"Nothing special, I finish work in half an hour. You want the usual?" Blossom asked as she took her notepad and pen out of her front pocket of her apron.
"Nah, honestly don't worry about it I'm about it meet Nelly in a bit so we'll probably grab something together." Said Boomer. Boomer and Nelly Jackson have been dating for about 3 months now. Since Brick left he took all of the Berserk drama with him. It took Nelly awhile to get use to Berserk not being around, the poor girl was physically traumatised with her threats but Boomer has been there for her since day one, even when the rest of us didn't believe her. They make a very cute couple, I'm happy for Boomer. "I thought I'd drop by and see how you're getting on" said Boomer.
Blossom smiled and replied, "yeah same old same old, different day. It's been a quiet life for the last few months"
"Quiet is a relief. Trust me" Boomer stated
Blossom giggled before putting her pen and notepad back in her apron pocket. "How is Brandon getting on with his brothers in Villetown?" Blossom asked. The pink Puff has really had a liking towards the green Rock, he's fair and honest. Wish she could hope the same for Bradley and Ben.
"Don't even start, they're having issues with business" Boomer said as he used his hand to scrap out the excess hair from his face.
"Oh I didn't know they all ran a business, what kind of business are they running?" Blossom asked out of curiosity. Boomer raised a brow hoping Blossom would get the message "...oh..drugs?" Blossom whispered to clarify. Boomer nodded and smiled slightly towards Blossoms innocence.
"Basically, I think they've got some competition which is slowing things down. Everyone's in competition with each other when it comes to dealing in Villetown, there's different types of high that people crave and currently the issue with the Rowdyrock is that their stuff isn't meeting people expectations" Boomer shrugged.
"You know quite a lot about these things" Blossom commented
"Been hustling since I was like fourteen, I know the game quite well" The blue Ruff replied. No wonder Boomer is good with these youths, he probably already knows what they're thinking or what their next move is before they do it.
"Speaking off Villetown, have you heard anything from-"
Before Blossom could finish her sentence Boomer shook his head, "he's disappeared from the face of the earth. Her too" Boomer answered. Blossom wasn't sure if that's what she wanted to hear or not.
There was a brief silence before Blossom spoke, "A quiet life is a boring life." She stated
"A quiet life may be a boring life but it's definitely safer" Boomer finished before standing up and tucking in his stool. "I gotta head. Take care of yourself, Bloss"
"You too, Booms. Thanks for stopping by" she waved.
"Anytime" Boomer smiled before taking his leave.
The next 30 minutes of Blossoms shift flew in by the time she cleaned down for her colleague coming in. She glanced at the clock and it was 7.58pm on the dot. Before she knew it, she heard the bell on the door alerting new customers coming in ring. Blossom turned her head towards the door to see her colleague Jennifer has came in for her shift. That's the one thing Blossom loved about working or trading shifts with Jennifer, she was never late. Jennifer was slightly older than Blossom, maybe 20 years old at the very most. She had medium length hair which she had tied up in a neat bun. She has lovely blonde hair and big brown eyes that any boy would be lucky to fall head over heels for.
"Good evening Blossy, how was your shift?" Jennifer asked as she hung her coat up and put her apron on.
Blossom thought carefully before answering, "quiet and boring"
"Uh, tell me about it. I'm here until 2am I'm hoping it goes in quick" Jennifer moaned.
"I did majority of the cleaning for you so there's not much left to do" Blossom said as she took her apron off and folded it away in her handbag and put her jacket on. "I'm off tomorrow, I hope Beckie doesn't leave this place a riot for me to walk into the following day."
"I'll put her in her place if she does" Jennifer giggled. "Thanks for helping out with the cleaning, you're such a star"
"No problem. I'll see you in a few days" Blossom called out
"- Oh Blossy! I nearly forgot there, last night about 10 or 11ish there was a blonde guy that came in here and asked for you by name"
"Aw that'll be Boomer. He already stopped by earlier on."
Jennifer nodded before serving a customer, "enjoy your day off tomorrow, lovely" she waved.
Blossom smiled back in reply and left her work.
Blossom noticed how dark it was getting nowadays, suppose it's mid October but it's not cold yet. Blossom loved the fresh crisp autumn scent in the air, it reminded her of starting a new year at school, Halloween and pumpkin spiced lattes. She decided to walk home as she enjoyed viewing the trees and see the leaf change colour to an orange/yellow/red tint.
As Blossom walked home she took her time with each step she took. No doubt the Professor would be working late and she hated going home to a quiet house, no sisters to annoy her. Blossom was too use to hearing Bubbles cry over something or Buttercup breaking something. Now it's just...silence. The Professor asked me if I wanted a dog to keep me company but keeping a dog is a lot of work to look after, especially with my schedule if I'm not working, I'm in college or if I'm not doing both then I'm sleeping. There's simply not enough hours in the day...some other times I feel like there can be too many hours in the day, depending how lonely I'm feeling. Spencer was really good to keep me company...until I seen her for who she really is.
However, if I could I would repeat senior year of high school all over again, including the biology test because if that didn't happen then Brick wouldn't of happened...maybe he would still be here if it didn't happen. Life is too short for ifs and buts. I need to stop feeling sorry for myself! She thought to herself.
When Blossom arrived home she took a shower and changed into her pyjamas. She sat on the couch and her phone starting ringing. She looked at the screen to see it was Bubbles and Buttercup requesting for a video chat. She answered so happy to see her sisters "what's the gossip biatch?" Bubbles greeted pouting with a peace sign. Buttercup and Blossom screwed up their face in disapproval "seriously, Bubbles...biatch?" Buttercup questioned. "It's the 'in' thing now, Butterz" Bubbles replied back.
"Is biatch even in the dictionary?" Blossom asked
"Unfortunately." Buttercup sighed as she used the palm of her hand to rub her forehead
Bubbles sighed in defeat, "you guys are such weirdos! I'm trying to say what's been going on?"
"I understood that question" Buttercup giggled knowing she's already annoyed her sister in less than 10 seconds. "I was talking to Butch a little while ago he said he seen Princess at his campus"
"What could Princess be studying at Glassville University? Did she even go to college?" Blossom asked
"Apparently she was 'inspired' by Boomers graduation speech about taking a gap year and not rushing into stuff etc" Bubbles replied
"Boomers helping young people to stay off the streets, what is she doing for a gap year?" Blossom piped
"She's gonna open up a store somewhere in New York, it's all over her social media" Bubbles answered
"Yeah with her dads money." Buttercup rolled her eyes. "I'm gonna see Butch in a little bit actually we're going to meet halfway"
"You're so lucky you guys get to fly! It's been WEEKS since I used any of my powers." Bubbles huffed in frustration
"We're rooting for you baby blue" Blossom cheered
"I don't even know how you're coping with the idea" said Buttercup as she opened up a bag of chips.
"I mean it's not all that bad, people will never know when I'm using super hearing or x ray visions but flying has been the toughest to avoid. I mean, I flew for every single day of my life and all of a sudden I just can't do it anymore. It's definitely been a challenge but nothing that I can't handle" Bubbles stayed positive.
"That's the spirit, Bubbs." Buttercup cheered "what's been going on in the life of Blossom" Buttercup asked
"Well still got that summer job...that was meant to be a summer job" Blossom giggled. "I'm a month in my Chemistry course."
"How's that coming along, have you met anyone yet?" Bubbles asked
"Still early days, we're just all just getting to know one another. But goodness gracious, wait until I tell you about Beckie that started in my work a couple weeks ago she leaves the place in absolute mess" Blossom gasped
The girls giggled
"Same old same old Blossom" Bubbles teased
"Yeah you know me. Quiet and boring"
By 8.45am the following morning Blossom made her way towards her college. It was a really nice place with so many nice folk at different ages in their lives. On the way in to the building she spotted a leaflet advertising for chess tryouts for Wednesday afternoon that's the day after tomorrow Blossom thought to herself, she had nothing planned. She took the leaflet and tucked it away in her handbag may as well make an effort Blossom was already speaking to her classmates but it was still early days to fully know each other we all chit chat every now and then.
By the time Blossom got into her class she saw her lab partner already beat her to it. The girl was really tall, taller than Blossom about 5'8 maybe 5'9 she always wore cute pink dresses which suited Blossom's fashion taste. The girl reminded Blossom of her youngest sister Bubbles, she wore her hair in two pigtails long and blonde she had sparkling angelic blue eyes and every now and then she would sometimes behave like Bubbles. Blossom got on so well with this girl.
"I see you beat me to it again, Dee Dee" Blossom greeted
Dee Dee looked up from her phone to see her lab partner "you know me, Bee. Somebody's got to keep you on your toes." Dee Dee said as she locked her phone and tucked it away in her jacket pocket. "Whatever you say, Barbie" Blossom teased
"No need to be hasty, Chucky" Dee Dee laughed. Blossom laughed with her, she got on well with Dee Dee the girl had good banter. "Speaking of, remember when I dropped you home the other day and my little brother was in the back of the car?"
Blossom thought for a moment, "oh yeah, Dexter" she remembered
"He is totally, like, obsessing over you! It's gives me cringe how a creature like him thinks he's got a chance with you" Dee Dee shivered
"Isn't your brother like twelve?" Blossom asked as she took a sip of her coffee
"Fifteen"
Blossom spat out her coffee making Dee Dee laugh so hard.
"I'm glad to see we're all in a chippered mood this early on a Monday" Professor Clark called out as he settled at his desk. Professor Clark was a quite a young man in his mid 30s. He's British and and constantly drinks tea, I mean who drinks that much tea in one day? "How was everybody's weekend? Hope you all behaved" he joked.
Professor Clark closed the door behind him and took his jacket off. "Alright class, we're going to dive right in. Who here can tell me a non-slippery metal? You can get two types"
A few people already had their hands up including Blossom. "Yes, Jacob" he pointed "Mercury" "sadly not"
"Yes Blossom" "Gold" Professor Clark nodded "yes, well done"
"Alright one more, who can guess it? Charlie" "Steel" "not quite. Anyone else? Dee Dee" "iron" "nope but good guess"
Professor looked around "Yes Mac" Mac was a cute. He had brown hair and dark eyes, quite tanned looking. He was tall maybe 6' at least he usually wore a long sleeved t-shirt, a normal t-shirt on top of that and most of the time had a backpack on. "Copper" Mac answered.
"Yes, well done. Alright gold and copper are the elements we will be looking at today and learn how and why they are non-slippery types of metal" Professor Clark started his lecture.
Blossom only has on class on a Monday morning, Tuesday afternoon, Wednesday morning and all day Thursday and Friday. She was glad to know once she finishes early on a Monday morning she has the rest of the day free. "So what's your plans now?" Dee Dee asked Blossom "I'm gonna go back home and sleep it's unbelievable how tired I am right now." Blossom yawned.
"Hey Blossom" the girls heard someone call from behind. The girls turned around to see Mac with his notebook and pen "hey, uh, I saw you understood the lesson really well but I was wondering if you could help me out with question 5 I'm kinda stuck." Blossom and Dee Dee gave each other a look and Dee Dee beamed a smile, "Yeah Blossom could totally help you out, that's why her hair is so big. It's full of knowledge" Dee Dee giggled before skipping away.
"I don't get it..." Mac looked confused
"It's a joke, sorry don't mind her. What's up, Mac?"
"Uh, I just couldn't get this one bit where it says why copper is a non-slippery metal, I couldn't quite understand the way the Professor explained it." He blushed
"But then again Mac, you already know why it's a non-slippery metal don't you? Since your answer in the class was copper metal..." Blossom pointed out crossing her arms as she tilted her head to the side slightly.
Mac started blushing uncontrollably "I uh" he couldn't even start his sentence.
"Listen Mac, I think you're very cute and a really sweet guy. But I'm just not ready to start dating right now" Blossom said as she looked at the ground, feeling guilty for breaking the news to Mac. For a couple of weeks she's been seeing him looking at her every now and then. Other times he compliments her answers 'Nice one Blossom' he would say. She saw this coming but didn't know it was going to happen this fast it's too soon she told herself. What if he comes back? She thought for a split second and quickly shook the idea out her head.
"Oh, I'm sorry-" Mac started to apologise
"No, don't apologise I'm just not in a good pla-" before she could finish her sentence her phone started ringing, she looked for her phone in her bag while trying to explain to Mac why she can't date him, stop being rude she told herself until she saw it was a Jennifer calling her. That's weird, she would never call unless it's an emergency usually she texts. "I'm sorry, Mac my works calling I gotta take this, I'm so sorry"
"No worries. I hope everything's alright" he waved.
Blossom thanked him as she answered the phone to Jennifer "Hey, Jennifer are you alright"
"Not really Blossy I'm at the dentist right now, I'm in agony my wisdom tooth needs to be taken out" Jennifer cried. She sounded like she was in pain. "I really hate to ask you this Blossy cause I know you said you were off today but could you please cover my shift tonight? I don't think I can make it in"
"Of course not a problem. What pattern are you on?" Blossom would cover any shift for Jennifer because she knows Jennifer would do the same if she needed her.
"I'm on 8pm-2am"
"Consider it done, I just finished class so I'll go home and take a little nap for tonight. Don't worry Jennifer, have some rest and I hope the feel better soon" said Blossom.
"You're such a star, thank you so much Blossy. I hope it's a quiet night for you"
"Take care. Bye" Blossom said before she hung up. Well it is Monday today. It'll be quiet & boring.
